Chapter 3 - Choice

Quash was taking shower in the common bathroom because he had come downstairs to wash his sweaty cloths and the bedsheet. His bathroom didn't have washing machine.

Right now, after throughly washing his body with soap and scrubing like he has some beef with his skin, he got out while drying his hair with a towel. His upper body was naked, he just wore a pant. He exited the bathroom and arrived into the dining room. The house was empty.

His parents had recently died on a mission overseas. Quash was devastated and locked himself in his room. Every moment remembered him of them. He loved them very much.

Even after awakening his past life memories, he still felt the same pain. But he could cope better because of his adult mindset. He could function properly while still suffering inside.

"What the hell~? Why does that sound so edgy~"

Quash couldn't help but chuckle at his own thoughts. He shook his head and went inside the attached kitchen to cook something for himself. He was very hungry. He felt like his stomach might eat itself.

No matter how much he is hurting, the world won't wait for him to heal. So he just needed to suck it up. No one's gonna listen to him complain. No body has the time.

Quash checked the fridge and decided to cook simple pasta. He put water to heat and prepared other ingredients in the mean time. There was some shrimps, he took them out and prepared it. Then chopped garlic and presley for scent and flavour.

Then he added a pan to the stove. When it was heated, he added oil and fried the shrimps with garlic until golden brown. A strong scent of garlic wafted into the air. The silent kitchen was filled with sizzling sound. Then he added milk and waited before adding salt and sugar to his taste.

He used Tongs to take out the pasta of the boiler, shaked of the excess water and added them into the milk. He then mixed them well and added persley at the end as plating. When it was ready, he quickly cleaned everything and went to the living room other side of the dining room.

The curtains were all pulled, making the room appear rather dark, he put the plate of pasta on the small table in front of the TV and went to pull the curtains away to let lights in.

His parents definitely didn't want their son to grieve so much that he loses meaning in life. After pulling the curtains away, he opened the sliding door to the courtyard for ventilation.

After that, he turned on the TV and started eating the pasta. The channels here wasn't much different from Earth's. News about casualties, about how celebrities farted and how it smelled, who the rising stars were. The only difference was, the celebrities were mostly Hero's that can bring waste to cities as easily as breathing.

Quash changed the channel to something he enjoys, MagiCraft videos.

In the novel, this was the reason he always felt that Quash's life was full of wrong decisions. He liked MagiCraft and had some decent talent for it but still chose to walk on the path of Knight to impress a girl who doesn't even like him.

His parents didn't say anything and let him chose his own path. They were supportive of whatever he did.

A smile involuntarily spread on his face when he thought of them.

But regardless of everything. Now that he had his head straight and isn't vainly chasing after someone who has no interest in him, he would like to pursue his own path.

And to do that, He needed to go to the Academy City. In the novel, he got into the Duxford Academy. A Knight academy ranked 20th in the Academy City among the numerous Academies.

Elina and Alan managed to get into the Fruma Academy, ranked 1st in the Academy City. He forgot about their individual rankings but them getting into that Academy was testimonial of their overwhelming talent.

Even though he got confirmation from Khahum that he could do anything he wanted, he still wanted to go. Despite there might be danger and drama regarding his changes in attitude.

"It would be sin towards all my transmigrated brothers if I don't. Hehe~."

Quash thought with a chuckle. Quash couldn't entirely trust the novel for concrete data because it was probably based on the most optimal timeline of the events in this world. Not a certainty.

He could use some knowledge as foundations fro future preparation for trouble but that's about it.

For now, he needed to get stronger in Knight Path for the time being.

For two reasons.

One, there was only two months before the entrance exam. Alan and Elina was training was training intensively and they all agreed to not gather and surprise each other with their growth. A competition on who grows the most. That's why he hadn't gone to them when the news of his parents death arrived.

Reason two is actually the main reason. He didn't have an energy storage to store Magi and hadn't laid out his Magi Circuit. He doesn't have the time nor the resources. With the amount of wealth his parents have left him with, he won't have any problems for the rest of his life but in the supernatural world, that amount can barely give a person a head start. So he can only wait until he got into a good MagiCraft Academy.

Quash finished his pasta, turned off the TV and went to wash the plate. He needed a plan for traning. For that he opened his status window which he forgot even existed. The status window is a natural phenomenon of this world that just shows data. Nothing more. Some people who has given up on getting stronger because of of mediocre talent forget that this thing even exist because it is of no use to them.
