Chapter 103 - His Answer

The silence stretched—

But it wasn't empty.

It was filled with everything that had happened.

Every moment.

Every choice.

Every time they had almost lost each other—

And did.

Zhen Wei looked at her—

Really looked this time.

Not past her.

Not through her.

At her.

And what he saw—

Wasn't the same person who had walked away.

There was still fear.

But now—

There was something else too.

Resolve.

"You said you were scared," he began.

Lian Hua nodded slightly.

"I was."

"And what happens when things get difficult again?"

The question wasn't harsh.

It was necessary.

"Will you leave again?"

Her chest tightened.

Because that—

That was the real question.

This time—

She didn't look away.

"No," she said.

The answer came quietly.

But without hesitation.

Zhen Wei's gaze sharpened slightly.

"…you're sure?"

"I can't promise I won't be afraid," she admitted.

A pause.

"But I won't run from it again."

Silence.

Because this time—

She wasn't saying what felt right.

She was saying what she had chosen.

"I don't want to lose you again," she added softly.

The words landed differently now.

Not emotional.

Not desperate.

Just true.

Zhen Wei leaned back slightly.

Exhaling slowly.

Because this—

This was the moment.

He had every reason to say no.

Every reason to protect himself.

To walk away.

But—

"I don't trust this easily," he said.

Lian Hua's chest tightened.

"I know."

"And I won't pretend everything is fine."

"I'm not asking you to."

Another pause.

Because this time—

They weren't rushing toward comfort.

They were standing in reality.

Zhen Wei looked at her again.

And then—

He made his decision.

"…we try again."

Her breath caught.

Not because she expected it—

But because of how he said it.

Carefully.

Not fully open.

But not closed either.

"There will be conditions," he added.

She nodded immediately.

"Okay."

"No running."

"I won't."

"No avoiding problems."

"I'll face them."

A final pause.

"And no leaving me to deal with everything alone."

Her eyes softened.

"…I won't do that again."

Silence.

But this time—

It felt different.

Not fragile.

Not uncertain.

But… rebuilding.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Zhen Wei stood up.

She looked up at him.

For a moment—

Neither of them moved.

Then—

He extended his hand.

Not pulling her in.

Not forcing closeness.

Just offering.

A choice.

Lian Hua looked at it—

Then at him.

And this time—

She didn't hesitate.

She took it.
