Chapter 113 - Choosing Sides

There comes a point—

Where standing in between is no longer possible.

Where silence becomes a choice.

And neutrality—

Stops existing.

Zhen Wei didn't go to the office that morning.

He went somewhere else.

His family home.

The air inside felt the same as always—

Controlled.

Ordered.

But today—

There was tension beneath it.

His father sat in the main room.

Already expecting him.

"You came," he said calmly.

Zhen Wei didn't sit.

"This ends today."

No greeting.

No formalities.

Just truth.

A pause.

Then—

His father set his cup down.

"You're still being unreasonable."

Zhen Wei's gaze didn't waver.

"You're targeting her directly now."

"And?"

The single word landed sharply.

"This has nothing to do with her," his father continued.

"It has everything to do with you."

Silence.

Because that—

Was the foundation of everything.

Zhen Wei stepped forward slightly.

"Then deal with me."

A pause.

"Leave her out of it."

His father studied him.

Long.

Carefully.

"You're asking me to step back," he said slowly.

"No," Zhen Wei replied.

"I'm telling you to."

The room went still.

Because this—

Was no longer negotiation.

This was confrontation.

Across the city—

Lian Hua sat at a small desk in the shop.

Documents spread out.

Papers.

Forms.

Her eyes scanned every line carefully.

Because this—

This wasn't emotional.

This was legal.

"I spoke to someone," Chen Kai said, stepping inside.

She looked up.

"…and?"

"They said you can fight it."

A pause.

"But it won't be easy."

She nodded.

"…I didn't expect it to be."

Because easy—

Was never part of this.

Chen Kai hesitated.

Then—

"I'm leaving the shop."

The words were quiet.

But they changed everything.

Lian Hua froze slightly.

"…what?"

He met her gaze.

"Not immediately," he clarified.

"But soon."

A pause.

"I think… it's time."

Silence filled the space.

Because this—

Wasn't about rejection.

It was about direction.

"…because of me?" she asked softly.

Chen Kai shook his head.

"No."

A small pause.

"Because I need to move forward too."

Her chest tightened.

Because she understood.

"You've already chosen your path," he added gently.

"And now I need to choose mine."

Silence.

But this time—

It wasn't painful.

It was… acceptance.

"…thank you," she said quietly.

For everything.

He gave a small nod.

"You'll be okay."

And for the first time—

She believed it.
