[Disciple Might Guy has set a Training Mission]
[Training Mission: Obtain First Place in the Ninja Academy Practical Combat Exam]
[Reward: Determined based on mission completion level and strength growth during the mission period]
Looking at the system windows that suddenly popped up, Makoto fell into deep thought.
Although he didn't know exactly what had triggered it, the result was excellent.
Two training missions, plus the rewards from exam rankings. By the end of the semester, his chakra would definitely break into five digits.
Unfortunately, the practical combat exam wouldn't allow a tie for first place. A clear first and second would have to be decided.
That meant one of the missions would inevitably receive a worse reward.
"What if one of them had an 'accident' and couldn't take the exam… then completed the task next semester instead?" Makoto seriously considered the possibility.
He hesitated slightly.
He was confident he could make that happen.
However, he couldn't guarantee it would be the optimal solution. After all, this was the first time two training missions had appeared simultaneously. Up to now, Makoto had assumed each disciple could only have one training mission at a time.
If one disciple delayed the task until the monthly exam next semester, then there would be nearly three months where no new training missions could be triggered.
Extending the mission duration might increase the base reward, but would it really be more profitable than completing more missions overall?
According to the training mission trigger mechanism, it was also possible that the disciple who finished second place, unwilling to accept defeat, might immediately trigger another mission to obtain first place.
After thinking it over, Makoto decided to play it by ear.
For now, the priority was planning the next training enhancement program for Obito and Guy.
After all, regardless of the final ranking, greater improvement in strength meant greater rewards. That part wouldn't change.
Tuesday Morning — Ninja Academy
Mitarashi Anko hummed an unknown tune as she happily walked toward the Ninja Academy.
She had taken leave from school on Monday, and together with the weekend, she hadn't attended classes for three whole days.
Three days without hearing Makoto-sensei's lectures or playing with her good buddies.
So today, Anko was especially excited to go to school.
"Will Makoto-sensei think I was sick and ask about me? Did Kotetsu and Izumo win the prize money from the competition? I can't wait to find out."
The more she thought about it, the more she looked forward to school.
"That's Mitarashi Anko, right? One of that 'genius trio'."
"Yeah, I remember her. She got second place in the last practical exam."
"Second place in combat—that's pretty strong. Too bad she's… a bit strange."
When Anko reached the area near the academy, more students began appearing, and she noticed quite a few of them staring at her strangely.
"Does nobody ever take leave at the Ninja Academy? Did the whole school really hear about it just because I skipped a day?"
Still muttering to herself, she walked toward Class 1 of the first grade.
The closer she got to the classroom, the more strange looks she noticed. Gradually, she began to feel that something was off.
When she entered the classroom, she immediately spotted something unusual.
Hagane Kotetsu and Kamizuki Izumo weren't chatting like usual. Instead, both had their heads buried on the desk as if they were asleep.
Normally, when Anko arrived, the two of them would either be discussing how to deal with Kotetsu's troublesome cousin, or talking about girls they had met.
Just as Anko was about to return to her seat and wake them up, a girl she was on fairly good terms with called out to her.
"Anko, you've become pretty famous in the Ninja Academy these past two days."
The girl covered her mouth, trying hard to suppress her laughter.
"Huh? I haven't even been at school these past few days. Don't tell me I became famous just for taking leave?" Anko scratched her head in confusion.
"Was the chair-summoning ninjutsu your invention?"
Still holding back laughter, the girl asked another question.
"The chair technique? You mean the Enemy Confusion Technique? I guess so. I developed it together with Kotetsu and Izumo," Anko answered.
The girl finally burst out laughing.
"Hahaha! You should just ask your two best buddies."
Anko grew even more puzzled.
"Kotetsu, Izumo, did you two not sleep last night?"
She tried waking them.
But you can't wake someone who's pretending to sleep.
No matter how many times Anko called them, the two remained motionless, as if they had fallen into a deep sleep.
A normal girl might give up at this point—or poke them with a finger.
But Anko was not a normal girl.
After confirming they were pretending, she simply punched each of them once.
"Are you two hiding something from me?" she asked suspiciously.
Knowing they couldn't keep pretending, the two finally opened their eyes.
"It's all Kotetsu's fault!" Izumo immediately sold out his friend. "He embarrassed himself on stage and dragged us into it!"
He quickly explained what happened during the weekend competition.
"He even shouted our full names loudly in front of everyone. That's unforgivable!"
Standing beside Anko, Izumo angrily condemned Kotetsu.
Anko's fists clenched tightly.
So that was it.
She had thought skipping one day of school couldn't possibly cause such a big commotion.
Turns out Kotetsu had embarrassed himself publicly and dragged her reputation down with him.
Seeing Anko cracking her knuckles, Kotetsu hurriedly exposed Izumo's own scheme from yesterday.
"Don't believe him, Anko! Izumo's the real traitor. Yesterday he suggested that since you weren't here, we should just blame everything on you and say you invented the technique!"
Anko: …
She slowly turned her gaze toward Izumo.
Her eyes were now full of killing intent.
Yesterday she had even thought that if they won the prize money, they should treat her to dango.
Yet these two "good brothers" were stabbing each other in the back.
"You're both terrible! You're getting beaten together!"
Anko grabbed Izumo with one hand and Kotetsu with the other.
Feeling guilty, the two could only run for their lives.
For a while, the classroom became even more lively.
The chaos only ended when Makoto-sensei arrived.
"Makoto-sensei, my reputation has been ruined. I'm no longer 'Genius Anko'—now I'm 'Talent Anko' instead," Anko complained gloomily.
"Well, as long as no one calls you incompetent, it means everyone still recognizes your strength," Makoto said with a smile.
"I still think 'genius' sounds better."
"Then prove it with your strength next time."
"If I do well on the exam, will I get dango?"
"If you perform well."
"Yay!"
The moment she heard there would be dango, Anko's gloomy mood vanished instantly and her smile returned.
Just then, the class bell rang.
"Class begins."
Makoto started today's lesson.
Patiently and tirelessly, he explained the three basic techniques taught at the Ninja Academy.
[Lecture Completed]
[Evaluation: A]
[Reward: Water Release: Water Formation Wall]
[Under your guidance, the students of Class 1 have greatly improved in ninjutsu. Reward obtained — Academy Three Basic Techniques (Mastery Level)]
After class ended, in addition to the usual lecture reward, Makoto received an unexpected bonus reward.
"So rewards don't come only from teaching classes," he thought in surprise.
After more than two months of teaching, this was the first time such a reward had triggered.
Although it was only the Three Basic Techniques, they were now at Mastery level, which was still quite useful in actual combat—even if they were originally meant for academy students.
Thinking about it, Makoto found the logic reasonable.
After all, this was a Teacher System, not purely a Master–Disciple System.
If he consistently taught a group of students and their abilities improved, it was only natural for the system to give him rewards.
"If I taught higher-level ninjutsu, would the rewards improve as well?"
That was his first thought.
The idea was good, but impossible to implement for now.
According to the Ninja Academy's rules, aside from Ninjutsu Theory, the only techniques allowed in practical classes were the Three Basic Techniques.
Makoto could understand the reasoning.
Each class had forty students, and everyone had different innate chakra attributes.
You couldn't expect a chūnin instructor to know ninjutsu for all five nature transformations, nor could you ignore the students' learning abilities.
For Makoto, however, this wasn't really a problem.
Not only did he know many ninjutsu, he also possessed the Teaching skill, and his natural teaching ability was already quite good.
But for the sake of his personal safety, he absolutely couldn't reveal that much.
"Maybe I should apply to the Third Hokage and take over Class 1's taijutsu lessons as well."
He felt he should start paying more attention to the students who weren't his disciples.
He remembered that Class 1 students often complained about their taijutsu instructor, saying the class was both boring and poorly taught.
If Makoto personally handled their taijutsu classes, their combat ability would definitely improve faster.
After lunch, while thinking about how to strengthen Class 1's overall strength, Makoto returned to the office.
Inside the office, something was happening again—
the same situation that had occurred last month.
