Chapter 76 - 76: The Weight of the Present and the Ancestral Blood-Feud

The Himalayan valley, once a sanctuary of hidden beauty, had been transformed into a cosmic forge. Above, the sky didn't just bleed—it tore open. A massive, charcoal-grey rift pulsated with the rhythm of a dying star. From this void emerged two figures whose very presence caused the reality around them to flicker like a dying candle.

They were the Grand Inquisitors of the Origin—the lost brothers of Arthur, uncles whom Aiden had only known through the hushed, fearful whispers of history.

"So... this is the 'Sovereign' that has the Void-Mother so concerned?" the elder brother hissed. He held a scythe forged from 'Yesterday's Sorrows'. The blade didn't reflect light; it absorbed hope. His eyes glowed with the cold, calculated blue of the Architect's original code. "A tired boy, clinging to a life-force that is barely flickering at 40%."

Aiden wiped the golden blood from his lip. His Sovereign Armor was cracked, the transparent light pulsing irregularly. He felt the Soul-Ring on his finger. It wasn't vibrating anymore; it was humming a low, predatory frequency, recognizing the ancient threat before it.

[WARNING!]

[Life-Force: 37.5%]

[Enemy Power Level: ERROR (Beyond System Limits)]

[Detection: 'Architect's Ancient Code' identified in targets.]

"Father..." Aiden whispered, glancing back at Arthur.

Arthur's face was a mask of agonizing conflict. The brothers he had mourned for eons were now the executioners sent to claim his son's head. "Aiden, be careful!" Arthur roared, his voice cracking. "They do not use 'Internal Effort.' They are the pure manifestation of the System's judgment. Their weapons are fueled by the essence of Time itself!"

Without a word, the younger brother stepped forward. He carried a hammer that looked like it was carved from a collapsed white dwarf star. Its name was 'Tomorrow's Regret'.

He slammed the hammer into the ground. The shockwave wasn't physical—it was temporal. The very ground under Aiden's feet began to dissolve into memories of what could have been.

"Forget your future, nephew!" the younger brother laughed, his voice a distorted echo. "In the shadow of Tomorrow's Regret, there is no path forward. Only the crushing weight of the 'What Ifs'."

The Psychological Siege

Aiden felt the mental strike immediately. It was a cognitive virus. He saw visions of Ananya falling, of the Seven Kings betraying him, of his mother being erased from existence. Every fear he had ever harbored about his destiny became a physical weight, pressing him down into the dirt.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION: Mental Breach Detected!]

[Status: Paralyzed by 'Future's Fear']

[Resistance: 0.01%... FAILING]

"No..." Aiden grunted, his knees buckling. "The future isn't a cage... it's a choice!"

He reached deep into the Soul-Ring. He didn't look for power from the Earth this time. He looked for the one thing the Architect could never code: The Porter's Resolve.

"Soul-Ring Multiplier: 100,000,000x ACTIVATED!" Aiden's roar shattered the temporal fog.

[CONCEPT: 'The Absolute Present' multiplied x100,000,000!]

Suddenly, the world turned grayscale, except for Aiden. By multiplying the 'Present Moment,' he had effectively stepped outside of time. The regrets of tomorrow and the sorrows of yesterday could not touch someone who existed solely in the Right Now.

Aiden moved. To the Inquisitors, he simply vanished.

CLANG!

Aiden's bare hand caught the head of the star-hammer, 'Tomorrow's Regret'. The friction ignited the air, creating a vacuum that sucked the oxygen out of the valley.

"What?! You dare touch 'Regret' with your bare hands?" the younger brother gasped.

"I don't fear what hasn't happened yet," Aiden said, his violet eyes burning with a terrifying clarity. "This isn't System power. This is the weight of every porter who ever carried a bag through the mud just to see the sun rise. This is Internal Effort!"

With a sickening crunch, Aiden squeezed. The 'unbreakable' hammer began to spiderweb. The concept of 'Regret' was being crushed by the reality of 'Effort'.

The Scythe of the Past

Seeing his brother falter, the elder Inquisitor swung his scythe, 'Yesterday's Sorrows'. The blade carved a black arc through the air, aiming for Aiden's soul.

This attack was different. It didn't strike the body; it struck the history. Aiden felt his childhood hunger in the slums, the cold nights of loneliness, and the bitter taste of every insult he had ever endured. The blade fed on the pain of the past.

"Sink into your sorrows, boy!" the elder brother commanded. "Your foundation is built on misery. Without your pain, you are nothing!"

Aiden's Sovereign Armor shattered completely. He was exposed, his chest heaving, his life-force plummeting to the red zone.

[CRITICAL ALERT!]

[Life-Force: 12%]

[Status: Soul-Bleed initiated by 'Yesterday's Sorrows'.]

Lilith watched from the rift above, her shadow-self expanding. "You see, Aiden? You are just a child of the slums playing God. Your past is a leash, and I am the one holding it."

Aiden looked up. He saw his father, Arthur, trying to crawl toward him. He saw Ananya, her crystalline wings broken but her eyes still full of faith. He realized that they weren't his 'sorrows'—they were his 'reason'.

"You're right about one thing," Aiden whispered, a drop of blood falling from his eye. "My past is heavy. But a Porter's job... isn't just to carry the load."

He gripped the black blade of the scythe with his own hand, the metal cutting deep into his palm.

"A Porter's job... is to know when to Put. It. Down."

[HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: 'The Master of Letting Go']

[Effect: All 'Past Burden' converted into 'Pure Kinetic Potential'.]

[New Status: Zero-Mass Sovereign]

The Sovereign's Sacrifice

The energy shifted. The black smoke of 'Sorrows' was suddenly absorbed into Aiden's Soul-Ring. He wasn't rejecting the pain; he was recycling it.

"Soul-Ring Final Ability: The Sovereign's Sacrifice!"

Aiden's body began to glow with a light so intense it blinded the Seven Kings watching from the distance. He was no longer using the multipliers to boost himself—he was using them to boost the entire reality of the valley.

"Lilith! You want to feed on this world?" Aiden's voice was no longer human; it was the sound of a thousand thunders. "Then EAT!"

[MULTIPLIER: 500,000,000x ... 1,000,000,000x ... \infty (APPROACHING INFINITY)]

Aiden unleashed a wave of 'Solid Reality'. The two Inquisitors were blown back, their ancient weapons disintegrating into dust. The Architect's code within them screamed as it was overwritten by Aiden's 'Internal Effort'.

The rift in the sky began to collapse. Lilith let out a screech of pure, unfiltered hatred as the 'Pure Nothingness' she commanded was forced into a state of 'Being'.

"This is not over, Aiden!" her voice echoed as she was sucked back into the void. "The Architect has more than just brothers. The Core is coming!"

The explosion of light faded.

The valley was silent. The portal was gone. The two uncles lay unconscious on the ground, stripped of their divine power, looking like nothing more than old, tired men.

Aiden stood in the center of the crater. His hair had turned bone-white, and his Soul-Ring was cracked. He looked at his hands, which were still glowing faintly. He had won the battle, but he had felt the 'Core' of the System for a split second. And it was far bigger than he had ever imagined.

He turned to his father and Ananya, gave a small, weak nod, and then his world went black.
