War.
With aliens.
In New York.
And that was supposed to be the minor announcement?
Across the planet, people sat frozen in front of their screens, trying to process what they had just heard. Questions piled up faster than anyone could answer them.
Where did these aliens come from?
Why hadn't anyone said anything sooner?
Was this real?
Before the confusion could even settle, the broadcast cut.
No explanation. No follow-up.
Just Noah Vale logging off like he'd finished a routine update.
The silence lasted all of three seconds.
Then the world exploded into motion.
Phones lit up across every level of government. Officials scrambled, calling the White House, demanding confirmation.
The answers they got only made things stranger.
"This is not an invasion," came the official response. "This is a proactive operation. We are expanding our system beyond Earth."
That phrasing spread fast.
By the time it reached the public, the message had transformed into something surreal:
Earth wasn't being invaded.
Earth was going on the offensive.
Oddly enough, that made people feel… better.
If they were the ones starting the fight, then it meant someone believed they could win.
—
Backstage, Tony Stark caught up with Noah as he stepped out of the recording room.
"I've got a question," Tony said. "You mentioned that device can grant abilities—but you didn't bring up the reversal process."
Noah glanced at him.
"I told people I recommend they take it," he said. "That's enough."
Tony frowned.
"You're leaving out a pretty important detail."
Noah shrugged.
"They don't need every detail. They just need to decide whether they trust me."
Tony stared at him for a second.
"…You're turning this into a loyalty test."
"Call it whatever you want."
Tony exhaled, shaking his head.
Somewhere down the line, a lot of people were going to regret their choice.
Because once the truth came out—that even failed transformations could be reversed—
Anyone who hesitated would realize they'd passed up a one-time opportunity.
And Noah wasn't the type to offer second chances.
—
The response was immediate.
Within hours, registration systems were overwhelmed.
Millions signed up.
Risk or not, the idea of gaining abilities was too tempting to ignore. Even the weakest enhancement could shift someone's place in the world.
In job applications.
In daily life.
In survival.
Others refused outright.
To them, a one-in-three chance of permanent mutation wasn't a gamble—it was a disaster waiting to happen.
Two sides formed almost instantly.
Those willing to risk everything.
And those who wouldn't.
—
Back in the lab—
Reed Richards stood in front of the completed machine, still processing what they had accomplished.
It had taken a week.
A week.
What should have taken a month—minimum.
He looked at Noah, reluctant.
"You're really not staying?" Reed asked.
Noah leaned casually against the machine.
"It's finished, isn't it?"
"That's not the point," Reed said. "With your mind, what we could do together—this could change everything."
Noah smirked faintly.
"Science is a hobby for me," he said. "For you, it's a lifestyle."
He pushed himself off the machine.
"You'll have plenty to work on. Probably more than you can finish in a lifetime."
Reed blinked.
"…That's actually exciting."
Noah gave him a look somewhere between amusement and disbelief.
"Yeah," he said. "You're definitely built different."
Before Reed could respond, Noah disappeared.
—
A notification blinked into existence.
The Interdimensional Chatroom.
Sasuke Uchiha: @Noah Vale — The other nations have made their move. They're marching on us. You coming?
A request followed.
Cross-dimensional access: 0/1 slots filled.
Noah didn't hesitate.
Noah Vale: On my way.
—
The world shifted.
In an instant, Noah was back.
The air felt different—denser, heavier.
Konoha had been rebuilt since the last time he was here. It wasn't impressive, not yet. But it carried the energy of something rising from ruin.
Ironically, a ruin he'd caused.
He spotted Sasuke nearby.
"So," Noah said, "how bad is it?"
Sasuke answered without hesitation.
"We've secured control of the Land of Fire. The ruling authority is under our control."
Noah nodded.
"And the response?"
"Full mobilization," Sasuke said. "The other four nations are sending everything they have."
Orochimaru stepped in, adding detail.
"Roughly fifty thousand shinobi. They're advancing from multiple directions."
Noah let out a low whistle.
"That's a decent turnout."
"There's more," Orochimaru continued. "Tsunade and Jiraiya returned. They tried to intervene."
"And?"
"They failed."
Noah glanced at Sasuke.
"You didn't mention that."
Sasuke crossed his arms.
"I don't need help with everything."
Fair enough.
"There's one more development," Sasuke added.
"The Akatsuki has joined the coalition."
Noah blinked.
"…Seriously?"
He tilted his head slightly, trying to piece that together.
"They gave up on their own agenda?"
Sasuke hesitated, then said carefully—
"They're concerned about… collateral damage."
That was one way to put it.
Noah snorted.
"So I'm the common enemy now."
No one argued.
At this point, it was just accurate.
He stretched slightly, rolling tension out of his shoulders.
"Alright," he said. "Four directions, combined forces, plus a wildcard faction."
A small smile formed.
"I'll handle it."
Sasuke looked away slightly.
"…Thanks."
Then, almost as an afterthought, he added—
"When I get stronger, I'll help you deal with Kaguya."
Noah froze.
"…I'm sorry, what?"
"From the moon," Sasuke clarified. "I'll bring her to you."
There was a long pause.
Noah stared at him.
Somewhere, something in his brain just gave up trying to process that sentence.
"…I regret a lot of things," he muttered.
This was one of them.
He waved it off quickly.
"Right. I'm going to go deal with the army."
Before anyone could say anything else, he vanished again.
—
Outside Konoha—
The ground trembled.
A massive sphere of rock lifted into the air, carrying Noah with it as it shot off into the distance.
Toward the incoming armies.
Toward fifty thousand enemies.
And toward a battlefield that was about to learn—
Exactly why they had all united against him.
