The tension in the air was palpable as Rex, the Young Master of the Kylin clan, stepped forward, his eyes cold and calculating. "This beast is mine," he declared, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Shi and Mu stood like statues, their expressions unreadable, but their presence was enough to freeze everyone in place. No one dared to move.
The captain of the foreign team, a burly man with a thick beard, was furious. He shouted, "This is ours!" and swung his giant axe at Rex. But before it could connect, a gunshot shattered the axe, and he grunted as another bullet lodged in his leg.
Kia's eyes narrowed. "Sniper," he muttered, his gaze locking onto another member of the Huya team.
Kia wanted to intervene, but Jin's firm hand on his shoulder stopped him. "Three people from the Kylin clan," Jin whispered. "If you intervene, you will be marked targets."
Kia's jaw cliked, his mind racing as he struggled to contain his anger. He had to stop them.
Meanwhile, Zeke was on the roof, his gun trained on Rex. The Young Master's smirk was infuriating, and Zeke's finger twitched on the trigger. But Jin's warning glance stayed his hand.
They had no choice but to leave, the foreign team capping their fallen captain's wound as they retreated. Rex complained as they departed, "A valuable prey was right in front of us. Grabbing it wouldn't be a big deal."
Shi's expression didn't change. "I know, but your safety comes first, Young Master."
As Zhou Ming and his group departed, they argued among themselves. "We should pay Shi and Mu to get rid of Kia," one of them suggested. "A super talented kid like him has already become a beginner stage senior warrior in just 2 months. He's a hidden danger."
Zhou Ming's eyes gleamed with interest, his mind racing with possibilities.
As they left, Kia and the rest helped the captain of the other team to a building to clean his wound, while Zeke kept watch on the Huya squad and the Kylin clan. Jin's voice was low, "Zeke, do you see them?"
Zeke's gaze was fixed on the group. "Yes, they're heading north down the street."
Jin gathered everyone as soon as the captain's wound had been bandaged up. "We leave here, now. They've seen us as a hidden danger. Once their Young Master is settled, they might come back for us."
Kia's expression was grim. "That's deep shit, Captain."
Jin's eyes narrowed. "Kia, you're not going to-"
Kia cut in, "Guys, you should go ahead. I will be with you shortly."
Jin's gaze snapped to Kia. "What do you mean you're not coming with us?"
Kia's voice was calm, but determined. "Those are two senior warriors. Once they spot you, you're done for. Don't worry, Captain. I'll track them down and know their movement. If they decide to turn back, I'll alert you guys. Even if I alert them, I can get away quickly. I am a Star Ruin spirit master."
Jin's expression was skeptical, but he knew better than to argue with Kia's instincts. "Okay, Kia, but this is serious. If you get discovered, escape first. Don't take chances."
Kia nodded, his eyes already focused on the disappearing figures of the Huya squad and the Kylin clan.
The group departed, leaving Kia to his mission. Jin, Nova, Mika, and Zeke headed back to base, their faces set with determination. Kia, meanwhile, had already picked up the trail of the Huya squad and the Kylin clan, his senses on high alert.
The episode ended with Kia and the others going their separate ways, the shadows closing in around them like a tightening noose.
