Damian had never seen a place like this before. The car rolled slowly up the long stone driveway, and he found himself staring out the window without blinking. The estate looked less like a home and more like something from a luxury magazine.
Tall glass walls reflected the afternoon sun. Clean white stone framed the structure, and a wide staircase led to massive double doors. Trees surrounded the property, forming a quiet barrier between the mansion and the rest of the city. It was beautiful, and deeply intimidating.
Damian leaned back slightly in his seat. "You live here alone?" Kendrick glanced at him briefly. "Most of the time." "That's… a lot of house for one person." Kendrick's lips curved faintly. "I've been told that before." The car came to a smooth stop. The driver stepped out immediately and opened Kendrick's door. Damian hesitated for a moment before following. The instant his feet touched the ground, the quiet of the estate wrapped around him.
