Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Compared to Dr. Foster's excitement, Thor was more surprised.

Did Leon also agree to this?

Speaking of which, the feelings between him and Jane had just begun to sprout. Although they developed quickly, he didn't expect Leon to declare it publicly so soon.

This made him feel a bit awkward, yet he was helpless.

What could he say?

Refute it?

Say there was nothing between him and Jane? Wouldn't that hurt Jane's feelings?

Moreover, this didn't fit his style; he was Thor!

Admit it?

Wouldn't that play right into Leon's hands and make him a bigger laughingstock?

Damn it!

Thor cursed under his breath. He would rather fight Tony for a hundred rounds than face such an awkward situation.

But one person had a different idea, and that was Tony, the bystander.

After his initial confusion, his spirits actually lifted.

Tsk tsk, look, a new victim has appeared.

Finally, he wasn't the only one being tormented.

Seeing Thor's discomfited expression, Tony felt the pain in his chest seemed to lessen.

He leaned back on the sofa, picked up a slice of pizza, and settled into a posture ready to watch the show.

Come on, fast forward to the family drama part, I love watching it.

Leon ignored everyone's varied thoughts, then looked at the flustered Jane and asked gently.

"Dr. Foster, do you have anything you'd like to say? For example, would you be willing to give up your short and fragile life on Earth and follow Thor to Asgard to become a... queen with a potentially longer lifespan?"

"Why 'queen' again?! Uh... I mean, is that even possible?"

Darcy almost spat out her milkshake. Her eyes were wide like brass bells, filled only with shock.

Holy cow! You can do that?!

Thor said it once before, and now Leon is saying it again?

Thor paused, then his face lit up with joy.

This suggestion is good! He likes it!

Jane froze in place.

Go to Asgard?

Be a queen?

Girls, have you learned? About how to make two princes beg me to be a queen!!

Just then, a voice suddenly rang out, breaking the stalemate.

It was Jarvis.

"Sir."

"A visitor is requesting access to the penthouse. Identity confirmed as Director Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury."

Nick Fury?

Hearing that name, Tony paused his pizza-eating and immediately frowned.

What does that one-eyed man want again?

The persistent fellow.

He wasn't in the mood to deal with any Agent head right now, especially in this situation.

Tony's peripheral vision caught a glimpse of Leon, and an ominous feeling welled up in his heart.

Leon was a madman who liked to treat the whole World as a laboratory.

Nick was a spy chief who tried to control the whole World.

If these two got together... Tony felt his head starting to ache.

"Tell him I'm not here." Tony waved his hand weakly.

"Just say I went on vacation to Hawaii."

"I'm afraid that won't work, Sir." Jarvis's voice remained calm.

"Director Fury says he knows you're here."

He knows I'm here?

Tony was startled, then rolled his eyes.

He glanced at Thor, who was still struggling with a glass of red wine.

It seems S.H.I.E.L.D.'s efficiency is quite high; they noticed the events in New Mexico so quickly.

However... Tony then glanced at Leon, who looked calm and composed, as if everything had nothing to do with him.

Fury probably didn't know that what he had to face tonight was more than just a simple bolt of lightning.

Soon

The elevator doors slid open silently.

Nick Fury, wearing a black trench coat and an eye patch, walked out expressionlessly.

His steps were steady, his gaze sharp, and he exuded an aura that warned people to keep their distance.

But clearly, now was not the time for him to show off.

Soon, his single eye swept over the scene on the balcony.

Then, a change appeared on his perpetually unchanging face.

He quickly processed the information before him.

Tony Stark was disheveled and pale, looking like he had just lost a battle.

A muscular man with long blonde hair, wearing cosplay armor, exuded an aura of extreme displeasure.

And three civilians who looked terrified.

And... Fury's gaze fell on the man leisurely sipping a drink by the bar.

The man still had a gentle smile on his face, looking like someone no one would suspect.

But his eyebrow twitched.

No other reason, he was too familiar with this person!

Leon Odinson!

How could he be here?!

Fury's pupils suddenly contracted.

As the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he possessed the highest level of classified information in this World.

Some time ago, through Coulson's transmission, he knew about this fellow, and also knew that Asgard truly existed, not just a myth.

And in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top secret files, there was only one word for Leon's danger level.

Unknown.

The unknown is the most terrifying.

He had always been troubled by these so-called gods.

They couldn't analyze Thor's power or accurately assess his threat.

Leon was even more so; he was an Asgardian Prince, recorded in myth as the Sun god.

He didn't even govern anything; the myth stated he was the Sun itself.

How were they supposed to evaluate such a description?

Could he extinguish the Sun as in the myths?

Therefore, they knew nothing about the strength of the two of them.

They only knew he was older and more dangerous than Thor.

Intelligence showed that after arriving on Earth some time ago, he stayed in a small town in New Mexico, then suddenly disappeared and there had been no news since.

Fury never expected to meet him here, in this way.

Fury's brain raced.

His purpose for coming today was simple: to investigate the energy anomaly in New Mexico, and incidentally, to once again try to recruit Tony Stark into the Avengers Initiative.

But now, Leon's appearance disrupted his plans.

This was an uncontrollable variable.

Fury made a decision instantly.

Ignore him.

Yes, just ignore him.

He believed it was foolish to actively engage in conflict with the other party before understanding their intentions.

Moreover, as long as he didn't provoke him, he shouldn't cause trouble, right?

So, Fury took a deep breath, pushing his shock and vigilance back into his heart.

He walked directly up to Tony, as if Leon and Thor were not even on the balcony.

"Stark." His voice was deep, carrying a sense of oppression.

"We need to talk."

Tony looked at the dark-skinned man who was pretending not to see anything and almost laughed in exasperation.

Good heavens.

The Oscars owe you a statuette, Fury.

Two such large living people standing here, and you can treat them as air?

"Talk about what?" Tony rolled his eyes, complaining weakly.

"Talk about your outdated boy band plan? Sorry, not interested. Right now, I just want a good night's sleep and to file for workers' compensation."

"This is no joke, Stark." Fury's face darkened.

"This afternoon, an energy burst of magnitude eight or higher occurred in New Mexico. According to our analysis, it was not a natural phenomenon."

His single eye glanced meaningfully in Thor's direction, but still avoided direct eye contact with him.

"We believe a force we cannot comprehend is trying to enter our World. I need your help."

"My help?" Tony laughed.

"Fury, the only help I can offer you right now is a detailed battle damage report."

"I know you're hurt." Fury's tone remained firm.

"But that's precisely the problem. If even Iron Man can't handle the threat, what do you think those ordinary Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can do?"

"So you just want me to go die?"

"I want you to join a team to protect this World!"

"Oh, come on, Fury, cut the high-minded rhetoric! You just want a useful tool!"

The two went back and forth, once again falling into the cycle of recruitment and anti-recruitment.

Thor looked at the dark-skinned man with some curiosity.

The other party kept talking to Tony about the threat to the World and incomprehensible forces.

But he completely ignored him and Leon the entire time.

He found it very amusing.
