Chapter 377 - Chapter 376 Spider-Man VS Green Goblin

Peter evaluated the ruined bullpen. His precognitive spider-sense was completely dead. The Goblin had jammed it. They were standing in the middle of the Daily Bugle. Civilian casualties were a mathematical certainty if the fight stayed indoors.

Peter lunged. He dropped his shoulder. He drove his entire weight into the Goblin's chest, aiming to tackle him through the shattered window.

The Goblin didn't budge. The glider's thrusters whined, perfectly counteracting Peter's superhuman strength. The heavy green exoskeleton absorbed the impact without a scratch.

The Goblin smiled. "You want to take this outside. You want to protect the innocent bystanders. You are painfully predictable, Spider-Man."

The glider emitted a sudden, high-frequency ultrasonic screech. The remaining glass partitions in the bullpen shattered. Peter stumbled backward. He clamped his hands over his ears. He let out a tortured groan, dropping to one knee.

"I know you inside and out," the Goblin laughed, stepping off the glider. "I know how heavily you rely on that alien parasite. I know exactly how to break it."

The Goblin raised a glowing pumpkin bomb.

Peter looked up. He dropped his hands. He wasn't groaning anymore.

"You're right," Peter said deadpan.

Three golden, mechanical waldoes erupted from Peter's back. The Iron Spider appendages fired concentrated laser bursts directly into the Goblin's chest plate.

The triple impact blasted the Goblin backward. He plummeted out of the skyscraper.

Peter dove out the shattered window after him. The red-and-gold Iron Spider armor deployed fully over his black suit. "That's why I wore layers today!" Peter yelled into the rushing wind.

The Goblin didn't hit the pavement. Sleek, Vulture-style wings snapped out from his armor's backplate. He caught the updraft. The autonomous glider swooped down from the Bugle to position itself under his boots.

"Wings and a hoverboard?" Peter shouted. "Pick a lane, man! It's redundant!"

The glider unleashed a swarm of micro-missiles. Peter's mechanical spider-claws intercepted them with rapid laser fire. Peter shot a webline. He yanked himself downward. He collided with the Goblin in mid-air.

They grappled in freefall. A golden claw pierced the Goblin's shoulder plating. The Goblin grabbed the mechanical appendage. He tore it clean off the chassis. Peter drove a fist into the Goblin's tactical goggles. The glass spider-webbed. The Goblin seized Peter's faceplate. He ripped the Iron Spider mask away.

They hit the asphalt simultaneously. A crater cracked across the street. Dust billowed. Civilians screamed and scrambled for cover.

The smoke cleared. The Goblin stood up. His armor was dented but intact.

Peter rose to his feet. The ruined shell of the Iron Spider armor hissed. It retracted entirely, falling away in jagged pieces. Beneath it, sleek blue circuitry pulsed to life across a specialized fabric.

"Like I said," Peter wheezed. "Layers."

The White and Blue Speed Suit engaged. Peter vanished.

A sonic boom shattered the nearest streetlamps. He moved at Mach speeds. He drove a right hook into the Goblin's chin. Blood sprayed from the villain's mouth. Peter tore a section of the Goblin's chest armor away. He delivered a left cross to the cheek. The Goblin couldn't track him.

The autonomous glider swooped in. It dropped a concentrated cluster of incendiary bombs. A wall of fire erupted. Peter pivoted sharply to avoid the flames. The glider launched a stun grenade into Peter's blind spot.

The concussive wave hit Peter mid-stride. His boots skidded across the asphalt. His momentum died.

A massive green hand lunged through the smoke. The Goblin seized Peter by the throat. He hoisted the teenager into the air.

"I have a complete diagnostic of your abilities," the Goblin snarled, blood dripping from his chin. "I have a psychological profile. I know your limits."

The Goblin tightened his grip. "But you know nothing about me. I am not some cheap thug in a mask. I am the perfect synthesis of the Erskine Super Soldier Serum and raw gamma radiation! I possess the power of the Hulk and the evolutionary perfection of Captain America!"

Peter gripped the Goblin's thick wrist. "If you know everything about me," Peter choked out. "What's my name?"

The Goblin froze. His eyes darted back and forth. The AI raced through its expansive database. It hit a wall. File Not Found. Norman Osborn had buried an encrypted, true-random-number loop deep in his own subconscious architecture. The AI was permanently locked out of Spider-Man's civilian identity.

"Why..." the Goblin muttered, his digital mind snagging on the paradox. "Why don't I know..."

"Did you know this suit has an emergency eject?" Peter croaked.

He hit the manual release on his collar. The blue-circuitry suit unsealed. Peter slid backward. He dropped out of the rig entirely, landing lightly on his feet in his solid black fabric suit.

The Speed Suit's arc reactor glowed blinding white. It detonated in the Goblin's hands.

A pillar of blue energy consumed the street. The shockwave flipped parked cars. Peter crouched behind a concrete barricade.

Heavy boots crunched on the asphalt. The Green Goblin walked out of the inferno. His armor was blackened. His green skin was charred and bleeding. His gamma-infused healing factor was already knitting the flesh back together.

The Goblin threw his head back and laughed. "I know exactly what you're going to say next! You're going to realize your precious symbiote can't save you!"

The Goblin tapped a control on his wrist. The glider descended. It emitted a localized, maximum-decibel ultrasonic frequency.

Peter stood up. He didn't flinch. The soundwaves washed over his black suit. Nothing happened.

Peter raised both wrists. He fired twin streams of webbing. He completely bound the Goblin's arms to his torso. Then, Peter channeled his fully calibrated bio-electric output through the web-conductor lines. He dumped a massive, sustained current of high-voltage bio-electricity directly into the Goblin's chest.

The Goblin shrieked. He convulsed wildly as the voltage fried his nervous system.

Peter maintained the current. "Do you know the best way to keep a symbiote safe from sonics?" Peter asked over the crackle of electricity. "Leave it at home."
