Chapter 160 - Chapter 159: A Battle Between Brothers

Meanwhile, on the surface of Nuceria—

The battle between Lorgar and Magnus continued.

They fought from one side of the mountain to the other, and everywhere they passed was reduced to wasteland. Both of them were Primarchs who used psychic power in battle, so the aftershocks of their clash were devastating to the local ecosystem.

But because of that, neither side could do anything decisive to the other.

After all, whether in psychic power or physical combat, both of them had their own strengths and weaknesses. On top of that, the planet itself was shrouded in some kind of Warp-spawned psychic force, causing their battle to remain deadlocked.

"You bastard..."

Lorgar, bruised and swollen, gripped the staff in his hand and glared hatefully at his brother's tiny figure. He was furious, yet helpless.

What angered him was that his own brother, relying on that tiny little form, had actually pressed him to the ground and beaten him up.

That was far too humiliating!

How could someone who did not even reach the root of his thigh do something like this?

What made him helpless was that several of Lorgar's attacks had accidentally swung through empty air. This forced him to lower his head while fighting, which was extremely uncomfortable. Over time, his greater height had actually become a disadvantage.

After all, Magnus could rely on her agility and mobility to specialize in attacking Lorgar's knees, while Lorgar, most of the time, could only use downward chops with a relatively small attack range.

It was damned bizarre!

"Lorgar, I'm giving you one last chance. Come with me to see Father, and then we can talk this matter through properly. If you turn back now, there's still time."

Magnus continued persuading Lorgar like a broken record.

Even though she could have escaped long ago, or thought of another way to kill him by force before Lorgar fully understood what "magic" was—

Unfortunately, Magnus's stubborn and arrogant tendencies had flared up again. She believed she could convince Lorgar and set things back on the right track.

Even though she had long since realized that a certain being from the Empyrean had already intervened on Nuceria, and that if she did not leave soon, she might very well be taken away as a trophy.

But Magnus thought:

Avoid Them?

This is the material universe!

Could those Chaos Gods really come out of the Warp and drag me away?

It was precisely this thinking that made Magnus forget about returning once her mission was complete. Instead, she stubbornly insisted on bringing Lorgar back to Holy Terra.

"Magnus, why are you wasting so much breath? I will never again stand with that false god."

Lorgar once more made his stance and thoughts clear.

He truly did not understand why Magnus was so fixated on this.

He had already said it.

There was no future between him and the Emperor!

Why did she still not understand?!

"Then I can only defeat you and take you back to see Father!"

Magnus said.

Even if she might end up killing this Primarch brother of hers, Magnus did not want to allow the situation to continue going wrong.

Because she had already made one mistake before.

This time, no matter what, she had to make up for it!

"Say that once you actually have the ability!"

Lorgar was completely dismissive.

Who didn't know how to brag?

If you really had that ability, I would have been defeated long ago.

But the problem was that battles between two Primarchs, unless outside forces intervened, generally ended with neither side being able to do anything to the other.

Forget Magnus—even if Horus were here, Lorgar was confident he could hold out until both sides were exhausted, then quickly flee.

Every Primarch had their own expertise and specialties, but overall, each Primarch's combat strength was fairly balanced.

There was no such thing as a powerful Primarch casually killing a weaker Primarch.

"Then let us fight, Lorgar! This time, I absolutely will not hold back!"

Magnus's will to fight was decided.

She no longer held anything back.

The instant she released her magical power, the entire Fedan Mhor mountain range shook for her. Visible to the naked eye, a mass of energy began to radiate from Magnus's body, and the surrounding space either twisted or split apart.

"!!!"

Lorgar looked at Magnus, who had suddenly become very wrong, and swallowed as he took several steps back.

This...

This woman...

Why had she suddenly become so powerful?

And this was absolutely not psychic power!

"Are you ready to die, Lorgar?"

Magnus raised her hand.

Countless magic circles with complex patterns appeared around her.

"I will fight for my faith!"

Lorgar's eyes shone with golden light, and his body also erupted with powerful psychic radiance.

Just as the two of them were about to launch their final attack, a special sensation suddenly struck straight into their minds and hearts, causing both of them to freeze in place.

Why had they suddenly become so sad?

This particular heart-palpitating sensation was something neither Primarch had ever felt before.

Or perhaps, deep within their hearts, they had faintly experienced it once before.

The two brothers erased by their father had given them that same feeling when they died.

But because their memories and emotions had been sealed away by the Emperor, both Magnus and Lorgar had already forgotten that matter.

This time, however, that feeling appeared again.

So the two of them quickly realized something.

"Angron... was it him?"

Lorgar instinctively looked in the direction where his brother had been.

Then he fell into bewilderment.

This was completely different from what he had planned.

According to the current progress, Angron should have become Khorne's Chosen.

So why had he died?!

No!

Something had absolutely gone wrong somewhere!

"Lorgar! You killed him?!"

Magnus questioned him in extreme anger.

"What are you talking about? I've always wanted to save him and free him from that false god's control! But now the situation has exceeded my expectations."

Lorgar defended himself.

He had considered the worst-case scenario, but he had never imagined that Angron would actually die.

This was simply incomprehensible.

"You bastard. You caused the death of one of our brothers. Father will be ashamed of you!"

Magnus roared in grief.

"..."

Lorgar silently tightened his grip on the staff in his hand.

Although he felt sorry about the result, this could not affect his great undertaking.

This was merely a necessary sacrifice.

Humanity would remember Angron's sacrifice!

And he, too, would spread word of Angron's sacrifice.

The faithful would sing praises of Angron!

"..."

Magnus held her breath and tried to control her reason.

Angron's death had made her furious. She even wanted to kill Lorgar, this damned traitor.

However, the only one who could decide the life and death of a Primarch was Father.

So Magnus decided that she would beat this bastard Lorgar into a cripple, entomb him inside a Dreadnought, and make him remember this act of treachery!

"Huh? Are you two not fighting anymore?"

A curious yet excited voice drifted from beside the two of them.

"?!"

Lorgar and Magnus both froze at the same time, then looked to the side.

There, a woman with long blue hair, holding a flower-bud staff, was crouching nearby. She looked at the two Primarchs as though watching a show.

When did she get close?!

Magnus instinctively took several steps back while covering herself with a layer of magical shielding. She looked at this woman, whose aura felt deeply wrong, with extreme tension.

"Don't look at me like that..."

Tzeentch stood up and sighed.

"The current me is only a projection. I can't do much."

"However..."

As she spoke, Tzeentch opened her right hand. A spherical object floated above her palm, releasing a certain familiar aura.

"!!!"

When Magnus saw that familiar object, she immediately recognized it.

It was the thing she had once traded away to a Warp entity—

Her own eye.

"That fellow called Bruce couldn't have calculated all of this himself, could he? Hahahaha!"

Tzeentch stroked the eye as though playing with a jewel.

"Trying to play schemes and tricks before me… that one is still far too idealistic."

Under the influence of some wicked art, Magnus suddenly felt her stamina and psychic power being rapidly drained away. Very soon, she uncontrollably dropped to her knees and lost all strength.

Fortunately, her magical power was temporarily unaffected.

So when Tzeentch tried to approach Magnus, she discovered a transparent shield blocking her path.

"Khorne obtained a Chosen. I will obtain one as well."

Tzeentch punched the shield curiously, and a ring of cracks appeared.

As she hammered at it, she said:

"If you were on Prospero, I really wouldn't be able to do anything to you. But who told you to come out here, Primarch chosen by me?"

"..."

Magnus struggled to maintain the output of her magical power, glaring furiously at Tzeentch.

"All right, don't look at me like that. I told you, I will have you. Now become my Chosen."

The magical shield shattered completely.

Tzeentch's face also revealed a satisfied and delighted smile.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH—!"

Suddenly, a furious roar rang out from deep within the mountain forest.

"Huh?"

Tzeentch, who had just been about to cast her spell, looked toward the source of the sound and froze.

A scarlet figure was charging toward her at high speed, accompanied by a roar filled with rage.

"Tzeentch! I'm going to kill, kill, kill, kill, kill you!"

Khorne?

What the hell?!

"Lor—eh?"

Tzeentch had just been about to call for Lorgar to help, only to discover that the fellow had already run off at some unknown point.

What the hell is that guy up to now?!
