Chapter 6 - Maoshan Talismans

The woman suddenly leaned forward. In an instant, an alluring sight came into Ye Qiu's view…

It was practically bursting forth!

To make it even more tantalizing, she gazed at Ye Qiu with soft, affectionate eyes, sending him secret flirtatious glances, as if saying: Come play with me, little brother.

In an instant, Ye Qiu's face flushed bright red.

He had never encountered a scene like this before. To his own embarrassment, a burning heat surged through him at once.

Ye Qiu was trying to figure out how to hide his awkwardness when the woman suddenly spoke.

"Little brother, do you like me like this?"

Her voice was soft and sweet, sending an electric tingle all over his body, making his skin prickle.

This seductress was simply unbearable.

Ye Qiu turned and rushed out of the ward in a flash.

"Don't go, little brother! I still have so much to say to you! Hahaha…" The woman laughed wantonly.

In the corridor.

Ye Qiu touched his face—it was burning hot. He secretly cursed himself for being so weak. A grown man, running away from a woman—how utterly humiliating.

Still, he had to admit that the woman's looks and figure were absolutely top-tier.

Among all the women Ye Qiu had ever met, only Bai Bing could compare to her.

But Bai Bing always wore a cold, stern expression, like a block of ice, keeping everyone at a distance. This woman was the complete opposite: passionate, bewitching, every glance enough to make a man lose control. She was simply a man's kryptonite.

Ye Qiu took several deep breaths, trying to calm himself down.

He needed a plan.

Ye Qiu knew full well that if he failed to handle this patient, the head nurse would use this as an excuse to kick him out of the care worker team—and then he would lose all his chances.

So he had to go back into the ward. And he had to win the woman over.

What should he do?

Ye Qiu felt a headache coming on. He had zero experience with this kind of situation.

"Forget it. I'll just go in first."

Ye Qiu braced himself and walked back into the ward.

"Huh, you came back?" When she saw Ye Qiu, a look of surprise flashed in her beautiful eyes. Then she grinned. "What, missed me already?"

Ye Qiu's face flushed involuntarily once more.

"Aww, you're so shy. How cute. Go on, tell me what you want. I'll satisfy you."

Ye Qiu looked at her and said, "I want to check your leg."

"You rascal! You look so innocent, but you're actually such a pervert. You just want to look at my leg. How embarrassing!" She whined in a coquettish voice, pretending to be shy.

Ye Qiu quickly explained, "Ma'am, don't get me wrong. I want to check the wound on your leg."

The woman froze. "You're not just trying to look at my leg?"

"No," Ye Qiu denied.

The woman stared at him for two seconds, then giggled. "Little brother, you're not being honest!"

"I'm a care worker. It's my duty to check your wound and change your dressing if necessary," Ye Qiu said solemnly.

"Fine!" She lifted the blanket, revealing her right leg. Her lower leg was wrapped in gauze.

Ye Qiu squatted beside the bed and carefully unwrapped the gauze to examine the wound.

It was a full ten centimeters long, crisscrossed with dense stitches like a centipede, looking rather ghastly.

Heaven is jealous of beautiful women!

Ye Qiu's mood sank instantly. Such a stunning woman had to suffer like this—heaven was truly unfair.

"How did you get hurt?" Ye Qiu asked softly.

"A car accident. My leg was broken," she said. "I'm supposed to have another operation in a few days."

"You already had surgery. Why another one?" Ye Qiu was confused. From his medical knowledge, her condition didn't require a second operation at all.

"I care about my looks. I don't want a scar," the woman said with a smile.

I see.

"My attending doctor said the wound area is too large, so it'll be really hard to remove the scar with a second surgery. He can't think of a way right now. If I can't get rid of the scar, I'll never be able to wear short skirts again. How terrible."

As soon as she finished speaking, a middle-aged male doctor walked in, followed by several interns.

"Ms. Lin, how are you feeling today?" The male doctor wore a kind smile.

"Not bad. Dr. Wang, did you figure out a way to remove the scar?" she asked hurriedly.

"I'm afraid I have bad news for you, Ms. Lin." The doctor's smile faded, and he spoke regretfully. "I consulted with dermatology specialists. In your case, complete scar removal is basically impossible. Even with another skin repair surgery, the scar can't be fully eliminated."

"There's really no way?" She refused to give up, pleading. "Dr. Wang, I'll pay any amount if you can get rid of the scar."

"It's not about the money, Ms. Lin. Current medical technology simply can't meet your request."

The woman's heart turned to ice.

For a woman, a prominent scar was a flaw that ruined her perfection—especially for someone as beauty-conscious as her.

For some reason, seeing her downcast made Ye Qiu's heart ache too. He blurted out, "Actually, there might be a way."

At his words, everyone's eyes turned to Ye Qiu.

Dr. Wang looked him over and asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm…"

Ye Qiu was about to introduce himself when an intern behind Dr. Wang cut in. "Dr. Wang, this is Ye Qiu. He's a care worker."

"A care worker?" Dr. Wang frowned. "What did you mean just now?"

Ye Qiu quickly explained, "Dr. Wang, Ms. Lin's case isn't completely hopeless."

Dr. Wang's frown deepened. "Are you saying you have a solution?"

"Yes," Ye Qiu nodded.

"What way?"

"Maoshan talismans."

"Nonsense!" Dr. Wang's face darkened sharply. "What era is this? You're still peddling feudal superstition. Do you want to lose your job here?"

"Dr. Wang, listen to me. Maoshan talismans aren't superstition—they're a profound metaphysical art. They really can help Ms. Lin remove the scar…"

"Get out!" Dr. Wang roared before he could finish. "One more word of this nonsense, and I'll have the care worker station fire you on the spot!"

Why didn't anyone believe him when he was telling the truth?

Ye Qiu wanted to explain further, but seeing Dr. Wang's furious expression, he sighed softly and turned to leave.

Just then—

"Wait!"

The woman suddenly spoke.
