Chapter 14 - Chapter Thirteen: The Price of Three Hours

Stephanie laid her head on the pillow, overwhelmed by a mixture of wonder and pure joy. She could hardly believe what had happened; she began to laugh softly, waving her hands and feet over the bed as if she were flying, trying to process that what she had experienced was not merely a fleeting dream.

Those hours with Ravaz were the most beautiful moments she had known in years… but she did not know that those three hours were the first time ever that Ravaz had succeeded in remaining on Planet Earth for such a duration.

While Stephanie was sinking into her dreams, weaving future encounters in her imagination, Ravaz had already returned to Azaveria… staggering inside his home, fighting for his life.

His home, which appeared to be fashioned from pure, transparent energy, began to glow and fade intermittently; a living entity pulsating with his consciousness, inextricably connected to him.

Its soft voice echoed, tinged with clear anxiety: "Ravaz… pollution levels are extremely high…"

There was no response.

Ravaz was drowning in a battle unlike any death he had ever known.

Excessive exposure to the polluted vibrations of Earth had begun to prey upon the purity of his light; his pure particles were slowly dissolving, forcibly merging with the particles of the Eternal Light… a merger that meant nothing but an inevitable end.

In Azaveria, death has two faces:

First: When the body sinks into polluted frequencies that exceed its capacity to endure.

Second: When it is charged with energy from the "Second Generator" but fails to contain or develop it… and when the body loses its ability to simplify its internal energy, it begins to melt, until it vanishes entirely into the Eternal Light.

Ravaz's voice was faint, his breath labored, and his soul on the brink of extinction… yet, he clung to what remained of his consciousness and said with difficulty:

"The new memories… with Stephanie… save every detail of them… place them in the most important room… as you always do."

Ravaz had always cherished his moments with her… even those that were no more than fleeting glances from afar. He wanted to feel every detail, transforming them into a vibrant simulation inside his home, returning to them whenever longing weighed heavy on his heart.

But this time… the house could no longer remain silent.

It does not disobey its master's orders… except when silence becomes a threat to life itself.

It launched an emergency signal via the "Pulse of Light" wave.

Within moments, the doctors arrived.

They moved swiftly, their faces tense, their devices surrounding Ravaz from every direction. Complex readings flickered, and the light around him vibrated with agitation.

One of them said anxiously: "He has been exposed to a massive dose of polluted Earth vibrations."

Another added: "Fortunately for him, he was in an area where the sun was absent… otherwise, his body would have been torn apart under the pressure of sunlight."

Then a third said, in a more cautious tone: "I believe he will survive… but recovery will not be easy."

Silence prevailed.

Exchanged glances… questions without answers.

What could drive a luminous being to risk all of this?

What could be more precious than his life… and the stability of Azaveria itself?

At that moment… his mother entered.

Her features were calm, but behind that stillness hid a deep fear… and an unbreakable resolve.

She approached slowly, looked at him for a long time, and then said in a low, steady voice:

"If you do not care for yourself… why did you do this?"

She paused for a moment, then added: "You know that your end… does not concern you alone. It means the end of an entire world… and the total collapse of the 'Shadows of Light'."

He did not answer.

He lowered his eyes… because silence, for him, was the only choice.

For the Shadows of Light do not lie… they cannot.

If they cannot tell the truth… they commit to silence.

His mother drew closer, and with a trembling hand, she touched the "Lineage Mark" inscribed at the base of his back, saying gently:

"Your end… means the end of this mark. And the end of the mark… means the end of the lineage."

She stopped, as if the words were too heavy to be spoken, then whispered:

"And the end of the ruling lineage… means the end of everything."

She breathed slowly, then added: "Remember that well."

She wasn't being cruel… she simply saw what he refused to see.

In Azaveria, every being is born with a unique mark. It is not just a symbol… but a complete definition of existence: who you are, what you can do, and the role for which you were created.

Energy, healing, defense, time, guidance… every being is an irreplaceable link.

And leading these links… is the ruling lineage.

But the cruelest truth… is that the mark of rule only appears in a single child—the son of the ruler, who in turn inherited it from his lineage.

And the Shadows of Light… are only granted the chance to procreate once.

Ravaz looked at his mother with exhausted eyes.

His soul was torn… between a love that could not be denied, and a fear that could not be endured.

Yet… he did not speak.

Because what he felt… could not be explained.

Yes… Stephanie had become an addiction.

Not just a memory… nor a fleeting desire.

But the only truth he felt belonged to him.

The light that pierced his isolation… the voice that brought him back to life… and the only reason that made him smile… even as he slowly dissolved.

And for that…

She was worth it.

Even if the price… was his end.

…But in the depths of his cracked, pure light, something else was forming in silence—something the devices had not detected, and the doctors had not yet understood…

Something that might not mean death alone.
