Chapter 89 - Poor Means Tactics, Rich Means Bombardment

BOOM! BOOM!

The enormous water sphere was shattered instantly.

The combined blast tore through it like a hot knife through butter and continued forward—

slamming directly into Gamabunta's body.

Although Ren hadn't perfectly fused the five chakra natures like a true kekkei genkai,

the stacked power of five elemental techniques combined

far exceeded ordinary single-element ninjutsu.

Its power had clearly reached the level of an S-rank forbidden technique.

Gamabunta's Iron Bullet simply couldn't stop it.

"AAARGH—!"

The gigantic toad screamed as he was blasted away.

His massive body rolled across the ground, crushing trees and kicking up enormous clouds of dust.

The earth itself looked devastated.

Watching the Battle

"To combine five elemental releases together…"

Shizune gasped in amazement.

"That's incredible."

"As expected of Ren…"

Even Karin—who normally loved arguing with him—

now stared with heart-shaped eyes.

"That show-off is really too strong!"

"Don't underestimate Jiraiya."

Although Tsunade had full confidence in Ren,

she knew Jiraiya's strength very well.

"He still hasn't used his real trump cards."

"For example… that ugly Sage Mode of his."

Jiraiya's Shock

Jiraiya nearly fell off Gamabunta's back as they skidded to a halt.

He steadied himself and stared at Ren in disbelief.

"Does this kid… have five chakra natures?"

"Damn it, that hurt!"

Gamabunta looked down at his scorched, bleeding belly.

He was both furious and terrified.

"Just what kind of monster did you provoke, Jiraiya?"

"Isn't he from your village? He doesn't hold back at all!"

But before Jiraiya could answer—

CRACKLE!

Lightning shot toward them.

Jiraiya barely dodged.

Immediately afterward—

countless wind bullets tore through the air.

They pursued him relentlessly.

"Ninja Art – Needle Jizō!"

In a flash,

his hair hardened into steel and wrapped around his body again,

barely blocking the continuous wind barrage.

But then—

WHOOSH!

A sea of flames surged toward him.

"Water Release – Iron Bullet!"

Gamabunta quickly formed hand seals and spat out a massive water cannon.

BOOM!

Fire and water collided.

Steam exploded everywhere.

But before Gamabunta could relax—

a chill ran down his spine.

Ren smiled coldly.

"Five Release – Great Barrage Technique."

The trumpet flowers released different elemental attacks simultaneously.

The bombardment poured down mercilessly.

"Move! Move, Bunta!" Jiraiya shouted.

Gamabunta jumped instinctively.

BOOOOM—!

The ground behind them exploded into craters.

The battlefield looked like it had been carpet-bombed.

They barely escaped—

but the next wave of attacks arrived immediately.

Tactical Philosophy

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

Ren raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? You dodged."

He smiled.

Then he placed two fingers in front of his chest.

"Then how about this?"

Five Release – Multiple Great Barrage Technique!

In Jiraiya and Gamabunta's horrified eyes,

Ren demonstrated a simple battlefield principle:

When poor, use tactical maneuvering.

When rich… use overwhelming bombardment.

Taking full advantage of his insane chakra reserves,

Ren refused to let them close the distance.

Instead,

he unleashed a carpet bombing.

"WHOOSH! WHOOSH!"

Flower after flower gathered blazing chakra.

Five elements combined again and again.

The destructive aura made even Jiraiya's scalp go numb.

"Wait—! Chiyo Ren—"

"Jiraiya, you handle this yourself!"

Gamabunta suddenly shouted.

"I'm not dying for this!"

He ran.

Without hesitation.

Honor? Loyalty?

Nothing was more important than survival.

Aftermath

BOOM! BOOM! RUMBLE!

"Bunta! You traitorous toad!"

"AAAAAAH—!"

After a long while—

The battlefield fell silent.

The ground was devastated.

Cratered, cracked, and smoking.

At the center lay a blood-covered figure.

Jiraiya.

He stared blankly at the sky.

His expression was one of complete existential defeat.

Tsunade's Teasing

"Looks pretty miserable, Jiraiya."

Tsunade smiled cheerfully.

She treated him like a convenient test patient, telling Karin to heal him.

Ren had clearly held back.

The injuries looked terrifying,

but they were mostly superficial.

A few days of rest would heal them.

Physically.

Mentally…

that was another story.

Jiraiya's Excuse

"Fine… I admit that kid's strength is ridiculous."

Jiraiya said weakly.

"But you should know—some of my techniques are too dangerous."

"I might accidentally kill him, so I didn't use them."

His face turned slightly red.

After all—

for a legendary ninja like him,

needing Sage Mode to fight a ten-year-old…

was already humiliating.

Tsunade's Honest Reply

"I know."

Tsunade nodded.

She didn't deny it.

If Jiraiya had enough preparation time—

entering Sage Mode with the two Great Toad Sages assisting him—

his combat power would rise dramatically.

That one man + two toads combo was terrifying.

But in a true life-and-death battle?

If Ren used his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan—

Tsunade had no doubt about the outcome.

Ren's eye abilities were simply too unfair.

Ren Responds

"I can't pretend I didn't hear that."

Ren crossed his arms and looked down at Jiraiya.

"So you're saying you could kill me anytime?"

Jiraiya's eyelid twitched.

"Hey kid… I'm technically your senior."

"Show some respect for your elders."

Ren snorted.

"With that shameless hobby of peeping on women bathing?"

"The fact that I didn't kill you already is mercy."

"And if I hadn't held back," he added coldly,

"you think Gamabunta would've escaped back to Mount Myōboku alive?"

That wasn't bragging.

If he had truly intended to kill—

the moment Gamabunta was summoned,

Ren could have filled that giant body with thousands of Wood Release spikes.

Turning the legendary toad

into dried toad jerky.
