Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 – The Fracture Within

The ground trembled again.

Not violently.

But enough.

Enough to remind everyone—

Something was wrong.

I stood still, my thoughts still tangled in Rudra's words.

Continuation… or consequence…

Before I could make sense of it—

A sharp voice cut through the air.

"Now."

Three figures stepped forward.

Not randomly.

Together.

Coordinated.

Their eyes weren't filled with fear.

They were focused.

On me.

My chest tightened.

"…so it starts," someone whispered behind me.

One of them spoke.

"You've been noticed."

Another added—

"And that makes you valuable."

The third smiled faintly.

"Or dangerous."

I stepped back slightly.

"I didn't do anything."

"That's exactly the problem," the first one said.

They spread out slowly.

Surrounding me.

Not rushing.

Not reckless.

They knew what they were doing.

This wasn't a random attack.

This was—

Intentional.

"You carry her presence," the second one said.

"That alone is enough."

My fists clenched.

"I don't even know what that means."

"Then learn quickly," the third said.

"Because we're not waiting."

And then—

They moved.

Fast.

All at once.

One from the front.

One from the side.

One from behind.

I turned—

Too slow.

A strike hit my shoulder.

Pain shot through my body.

I stumbled.

Another hit—

From the side.

I blocked.

Barely.

The impact pushed me back.

"Too slow," one of them said.

My breathing grew heavier.

My body wasn't ready.

Not for three.

Not like this.

I tried to move—

Another attack.

This time from behind.

I felt it coming—

But I couldn't stop it.

Impact.

I hit the ground.

Hard.

The air left my lungs.

"…pathetic," one of them muttered.

I tried to stand—

My arms shook.

Wouldn't respond properly.

"Is this really the one?" another said.

"The one Rudra noticed?"

Silence.

Then—

"Disappointing."

Something inside me snapped.

Not anger.

Not fear.

Something deeper.

A resistance.

"I'm not… done…" I said.

They didn't stop.

Didn't wait.

Another attack came.

This time—

I didn't think.

I reacted.

The world slowed.

Not completely.

But enough.

Their movements—

Clearer.

Slower.

Predictable.

I moved.

Just slightly.

The attack missed.

For the first time—

Cleanly.

My eyes widened.

"What…?"

Another strike came.

I saw it.

Before it happened.

My body moved on its own.

I stepped aside.

Countered.

My fist connected.

The attacker staggered.

"…what?"

They stopped.

For a second.

Confused.

I stood there.

Breathing heavily.

But something had changed.

The air around me felt different.

Sharper.

More… responsive.

Like it was reacting to me.

"What is this…?" I whispered.

Then—

I heard it.

A voice.

Not outside.

Inside.

Soft.

Familiar.

"Don't think."

My heart stopped.

"…Lily?"

"Feel."

My body moved again.

Without hesitation.

Without doubt.

The next attack came—

I flowed past it.

Not dodging.

Not blocking.

Avoiding.

Like I already knew where it would land.

I stepped in.

Struck.

Cleaner.

Stronger.

One of them fell.

The other two froze.

"…this isn't normal."

They stepped back.

Cautious now.

Afraid.

The ground beneath me vibrated.

Not violently.

But in rhythm.

With me.

"With her…" one of them whispered.

"He's like her…"

Before they could react—

A pressure filled the space.

Different.

Heavy.

Commanding.

They froze.

Everyone did.

Even me.

That presence—

I knew it.

Rudra.

He stepped forward again.

Slow.

Controlled.

His eyes moved from them—

To me.

And for the first time—

Something changed in his expression.

Not curiosity.

Not interest.

Recognition.

"…so it awakened," he said quietly.

My chest tightened.

"What did I do?"

He didn't answer.

Instead—

Another presence entered.

Suddenly.

Violently.

The space itself distorted.

Split.

And from within it—

He stepped out.

The same man.

The one who didn't belong.

The one who broke rules.

Silence fell instantly.

Even Rudra stopped.

The two of them faced each other.

No words.

At first.

Just presence.

Clashing.

Invisible.

But real.

"You're interfering again," Rudra said calmly.

The man didn't respond.

"You shouldn't be here."

"I was invited," the man replied.

His voice steady.

Unbothered.

Rudra smiled faintly.

"You don't follow rules."

"No," he said.

"I don't."

The air between them tightened.

Dangerous.

Unstable.

Then Rudra looked at me.

"…so this is your doing."

The man stepped slightly forward.

"He's not yours."

Rudra's eyes narrowed.

"He's not yours either."

A pause.

Heavy.

Then—

"He's the Arena's problem now."

Silence.

The tension didn't break.

It deepened.

The three attackers stepped back slowly.

They weren't part of this anymore.

No one was.

This was something else.

Something bigger.

Rudra looked at the man.

Then at me.

Then—

He smiled.

"If he survives…"

A pause.

"…I'll deal with him myself."

Not a threat.

A promise.

Then—

He turned.

And walked away again.

The pressure lifted.

Slowly.

The space stabilized.

The man looked at me.

"You felt it," he said.

I nodded slowly.

"That wasn't training."

"That was memory."

My chest tightened.

"…hers?"

He didn't answer directly.

But he didn't need to.

Before I could ask more—

He stepped back.

"You're changing faster than expected."

The space around him began to distort again.

He was leaving.

"Wait—!"

I stepped forward.

"What is happening to me?"

He looked at me one last time.

And said—

"You're becoming what she started."

Then—

He disappeared.

Gone.

Just like that.

Silence returned.

But this time—

It wasn't empty.

It was filled with something new.

Fear.

Not mine.

Theirs.

All eyes were on me again.

But now—

It wasn't curiosity.

It was caution.

Respect.

And something else—

Uncertainty.

I stood there.

Breathing slowly.

My fists tightening.

The echo of her voice still in my mind.

And one thought—

Clearer than before.

"I'm not just surviving anymore…"

A pause.

"…I'm changing this place."
