Chapter 128 - Chapter 128 - Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader!

After Makoto Nishikado announced the new policies for this world, he got a call from Shiro Suzuki back in Japan.

America's attacks had devastated the country. It was not just Tokyo anymore. Outside the area around Totsuki Culinary Academy, almost all of Japan had become unfit for normal habitation.

To deal with Makoto, the Americans really had gone all in.

Makoto himself did not react much.

Neither he nor the parents of Utaha Kasumigaoka and Megumi Kato had been harmed. They had all accepted the invitation to the Moon Banquet Festival and stayed safe. So even with Japan reduced to this, he was not especially worried.

Still, Japan was effectively finished as a nation now. More than ninety-nine percent of its territory had been hit by intense nuclear and radiation pollution. That country was clearly no longer usable.

"Why don't we just move here?" Ran Mouri suggested.

Sonoko Suzuki immediately agreed. "Great idea. There isn't a country in the world with a better environment than America."

Whether you looked at geography or history, that country had always felt like it was playing with cheats enabled.

Unlike Japan and Korea, those two cursed with miserable geography, America really did sit at the top tier on a global scale. No major enemies to the north or south, two vast oceans to the east and west, no war on its home soil, and enough resources to burn forever.

"Talk to the President," Makoto said. "Have him carve out a piece of land. It'd be perfect for a new Japan."

The moment Sonoko heard the words "new Japan," Yu Ishigami suddenly shouted, "New Japan? This is Makoto-senpai's nation. It should be called Makoto Nation!"

Makoto Nation? What kind of ridiculous name is that...

Makoto was speechless.

Still, America really did have excellent land. Moving here was not a bad idea at all, and he had never liked that earthquake-ridden hellhole called Japan in the first place.

After some discussion, everyone decided to have The US President separate out Indiana for the time being and temporarily rename the country Makoto Nation.

Well, not quite. Rather than using Indiana as Makoto Nation's only territory, every state except Indiana ended up being handed over to Makoto.

Makoto felt he was being far too kind. America had offended him that badly, and he still had not wiped them out.

Once the decision was made, the women all took out their phones and contacted their families, telling them to move to Makoto Nation and live there instead.

Soon after, The US President announced it through official channels, and the whole world was shaken.

It was not only the survivors from Totsuki who wanted in. People from many other countries also began moving to Makoto Nation, hoping to live under the protection of a god.

Unlike Megumi Kato and Utaha Kasumigaoka, whose parents were both safe, Ran learned Mouri Kogoro's condition the instant she reached Eri Kisaki. She rushed back to Japan at once.

Yukiko, who had also received the news and had been planning to move to Makoto Nation, faced a different problem.

Her son had been at home.

Right inside the blast zone of the bombs.

She had wanted Shinichi Kudo to attend the Moon Banquet Festival too, but he had refused no matter what she said, so she had no choice but to leave him at home.

Outside the academy, Tokyo had already turned into a full-blown apocalypse.

Yukiko's face went white. She dropped to her knees and burst into tears.

Eri, who had just brought Mouri Kogoro to a shelter, crouched down and wrapped an arm around her friend.

Yukiko cried against her shoulder without stopping.

"Come with me from now on," Eri said softly.

Back in the Chainsaw Man world, Eri had refused to team up with the Kudo family mostly because both father and son had always been at odds with Makoto. Something was bound to happen sooner or later.

Now only Yukiko was left.

That concern was gone.

Yukiko sniffed and nodded.

Her husband was gone. Her child was gone.

Where else could she go now except to Makoto?

At this point, he was the only man she could rely on.

What Yukiko did not know was that after the Mouri family left Japan, beneath the buried earth under the ruined Kudo mansion, a hand suddenly thrust out from the rubble.

It did not look human.

...

A week later, inside the rebuilt Suzuki... no, Nishikado Palace, which now stood on the site of the former White House, Ran threw herself into Makoto's arms, tears streaming down her face.

"Teacher... Dad, Dad's in trouble, and Shinichi is dead, I... I..."

After returning to Japan and seeing what had become of Mouri Kogoro, then learning that the Shinichi Kudo was dead, Ran had nearly collapsed from grief.

The moment she saw Makoto again, she could not hold back any longer and rushed straight into his embrace.

At least her mother had survived intact and stayed by her side.

But female instinct was female instinct. Right now, Ran needed comfort from a man more than anything. With Mouri Kogoro reduced to a cripple and Shinichi dead, Makoto naturally became the only possible choice.

"I heard," Makoto said, one arm around her slim waist while the other stroked her back. "I'll have the best doctors in the country look at him later. He'll recover."

That was stretching it, honestly.

Makoto had already heard about Mouri Kogoro's condition. After being reduced to that state, recovery was impossible unless someone could turn back time.

"M-Makoto... can Yukiko stay here too?"

Eri asked in a low voice while standing beside her friend.

Makoto nodded.

Obviously. She was going to end up here anyway.

"I'm sorry about Yusaku and Shinichi," he said, looking at Yukiko.

Losing both a husband and a son was a brutal blow for any woman.

Yukiko pressed her lips together and nearly started crying again under his gaze.

She wanted to throw herself into his arms too, to steal some warmth from them.

But given her current position, she did not dare.

That night, though, a figure slipped quietly into Yukiko's room.

Still crying in her sleep, she felt someone gently nudge her.

Half awake, she rubbed her eyes and slowly opened them. Makoto's face was right in front of hers. She almost screamed before he clapped a hand over her mouth.

"What are you doing?" she whispered, heart hammering. "You almost woke Eri."

She glanced nervously at Eri Kisaki, asleep beside her.

Yes, the two women were sharing a room.

They had both lost their husbands and were at their most vulnerable. Staying together gave them someone to lean on.

Well, Mouri Kogoro was not actually dead.

He was only close enough.

"Doing you," Makoto said.

Yukiko's face flushed bright red. She glanced at her sleeping friend and answered in an equally tiny voice with a single word.

"Do it."

Makoto swept her into a bridal carry. "I turned down invitations from Reze and Alice Nakiri for this. How are you going to make it up to me?"

Yukiko's cheeks burned. "How?"

He leaned in and whispered something into her ear.

Her face turned even redder. "Th-that's fine? In a place like that..."

Before she could say more, Makoto carried her to the window and jumped down.

The Eri Yukiko thought was asleep opened her eyes wide in shock.

When did those two start sleeping together?!

Remembering what she had just heard, Eri felt like her worldview had shattered.

Yukiko... how could you do this?

That was your husband and son's enemy.

Eri knew Makoto had not personally killed the Kudo father and son, but they had been on bad terms with him while they were alive. That still counted as at least half an enemy, and yet...

More importantly, Shinichi had only been dead for a few days, and already...

Eri did not know what to think anymore.

Staring into the now-empty room, she found herself unable to sleep at all.

Back when she and Mouri Kogoro had been living apart, days like this had been easy enough to endure.

So why, faced with the same situation now, could she not adapt?

...

Several more weeks passed.

Makoto Nation fully entered the reconstruction phase.

Foreign civilians flooded across the border, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the new ruler of this country.

Many of them came from ordinary backgrounds. They approached it like a pilgrimage.

Because of Makoto's policies, airfare had become dirt cheap. Countless people who had never even left their hometowns before boarded planes for the first time.

For ninety-nine percent of them, their first destination was the same.

The country where the man they saw as a god now lived.

That night, Makoto looked at Kotonoha Katsura, whose face was so red she seemed on the verge of fainting, and asked, "Are you sure about this, Kotonoha? You know that even if you give yourself to me, you'll never be my only woman."

After Kokoro Katsura repeatedly played matchmaker and spent days coaching her, Kotonoha had finally gathered the courage to stand before him.

She wore a qipao designed to tear easily, and beneath the thin fabric her dangerously lush figure looked ready to burst free.

"I... I'm willing..."

Kotonoha did not even dare meet his eyes. She was afraid she would pass out if she did.

Makoto could not help feeling that Makoto Ito had died a little unjustly.

If that idiot had simply told Kotonoha from the start that he wanted a harem, the original story might never have ended the way it did.

Kotonoha's later descent into madness had not happened mainly because Makoto Ito cheated.

At heart, she was the most traditional kind of Japanese woman, and with a personality that timid, she might even have endured his infidelity in silence.

What she could not endure was deception.

One sentence explained it perfectly.

You can be scum to me, but you cannot lie to me.

Makoto had made it clear from the very beginning. I'm a scumbag. I have many women. You'd better stay away from me.

And even then, Kotonoha had still flown toward him like a moth to flame.

That was the correct strategy, all right.

Seeing that she had truly made up her mind, Makoto was not about to refuse meat that had delivered itself to his mouth. He crooked a finger at her.

"Come here."

Kotonoha trembled, shuffling forward like a lamb to the slaughter.

Even Reze, sitting beside Makoto, lost patience. She grabbed Kotonoha and yanked her over.

"Ah!"

Kotonoha stumbled and fell right in front of Makoto. Worse, her face hit exactly where it should not have.

Seeing she was about to faint, Makoto immediately signaled to Yui Yuigahama, who was standing nearby, to inject Chakra into her and keep her conscious.

Reze held Kotonoha by the shoulders from behind and grinned. "Perfect. All three weapon girls are here, so let's do it in devil form."

Makoto: "..."

The moment Kotonoha came in, Reze's eyes had visibly lit up.

At the time, Makoto had already guessed what she was thinking.

"D-devil form?"

Before Yui Yuigahama, Megumi Kato, or the others could even react, Reze reached up and pulled the pin on her choker.

Makoto sighed. Reze had clearly been waiting for this for ages, so he pulled the cord in his chest as well.

Kotonoha watched the two of them transform. She thought it was a little strange for a first time, but she still followed Reze's lead and pulled open her left hand like drawing a blade.

In an instant, the three of them transformed at once.

Chainsaw Man. Bomb Girl. Katana Woman.

Bomb Girl, who kept the most human features of the three, stretched out both hands and took Chainsaw Man's and Katana Woman's, pulling them together until their bodies met.

Then those mouths full of fangs touched.

Right in front of Megumi Kato and the others, who stood there dumbstruck, Bomb Girl undid Chainsaw Man's belt, looked at the little chainsaw, and opened her own fang-filled mouth...

Even the Akizuki sisters, who had been with Makoto for more than ten years, were stunned stupid by the sight.

Over the years they had tried plenty of new games with their man, but never anything like this.

...

The next day, October 1.

It was Makoto's birthday, and under a proposal from Yu Ishigami, Supreme Commander of Makoto Nation's military, it had also been designated National Day.

Every year from now on, a flag-raising ceremony would be held here to honor the great contributions the great Supreme Leader of Makoto Nation had made to this world.

As the very first National Day since the founding of Makoto Nation, the square outside Nishikado Palace was packed with millions of people from all over the world.

The crowd was still growing.

At a glance there had to be at least ten million.

Ishigami stood respectfully outside the bedroom with Beam and the others and gave his report.

"Supreme Leader, the crowd in the square has already exceeded ten million. If they don't see you, they won't leave."

A few seconds later, Makoto's voice came from inside.

"Mm. Go on ahead. I'll be there soon."

"Yes. Please take care of your sacred body, Supreme Leader."

The footsteps outside gradually faded into the distance, and Makoto could only stare in silence.

He was starting to think he needed to make Ishigami fix the way he spoke.

Sacred body...

Did he really have to be this chuuni?

Just then, a hand caught Makoto by the cheek and turned his face. The moment he looked over, Yukiko's lips rushed toward him and filled his vision.

Mrs. Yukinoshita and Kayoko Akizuki joined in as well.

Makoto still kept the same habit as always.

Young Girls at night, married women during the day.

"Can you handle it?" he asked with a teasing smile.

The married women group was still too small. They were no match for Old Master Makoto.

Still, because he needed to keep up his morning training, he could not spend too much time on them.

Yotsuba Nakano was still waiting.

The three women did not answer.

They simply turned their backs to him, lined up on the bed, and gave him their answer with their bodies.

...

In the square outside Nishikado Palace, countless people of different skin colors and races had gathered together. Their faces were different. Their languages were different. Yet they were all shouting the same name.

For this one moment, the divide of race and color vanished beneath a single cheer.

When the palace doors slowly opened, the cries of the people around the world hit their limit.

"Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader! Supreme Leader!"

Makoto raised both arms, and the ten million people on site erupted into a crazed roar.

Even without using any supernatural power at all, the wind and clouds seemed to change color under the pressure of those millions of voices.

At that moment, Makoto looked like a god descending to earth.
