Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – The Day the Sky Turned Against the Earth

Morning never came.

The sun tried to rise—

but the sky refused.

Dark clouds covered everything.

Thick.

Heavy.

Unmoving.

As if the world itself had decided—

light was no longer welcome.

People stepped outside slowly.

Confused.

Uneasy.

"This isn't normal…"

"It feels wrong…"

Even children—

who didn't understand fear—

held onto their parents tightly.

Because something deep inside them knew—

this was not just weather.

This was a sign.

A warning.

Or perhaps—

a beginning.

Far beyond the cities—

far from safety—

Arlen stood beneath that dark sky.

Silent.

Unmoving.

But not empty anymore.

His eyes were different.

Not alive.

Not human.

But not completely hollow either.

Because something had returned.

Pain.

Memory.

A name that refused to leave him.

"…Mira…"

The word slipped out again.

Soft.

Uncontrollable.

And each time he spoke it—

the world reacted.

The wind shifted.

The ground trembled.

As if reality itself—

could feel his emotions.

"…If you're gone…"

He looked up at the sky.

"…Then why am I still here?"

No answer came.

But the question remained.

Because existence without meaning—

is more painful than death.

And Arlen—

could no longer ignore that pain.

A sudden rumble echoed.

Deep.

Loud.

The sky cracked with light—

but not sunlight.

Something darker.

Something unnatural.

Across the horizon—

figures began to appear.

Hundreds.

Then thousands.

Warriors.

Hunters.

Sect disciples.

An army.

Not hidden.

Not waiting.

But advancing.

Slowly.

Together.

Determined.

Because the world had made its choice.

If one existence threatened everything—

then everything would rise against it.

At the front—

Kael stood.

Silent.

Focused.

His blade rested calmly at his side.

But his presence—

sharp as ever.

He saw him.

From a distance.

Standing alone beneath a sky that no longer belonged to anyone.

"…So this is where it ends."

His voice was quiet.

But carried across the wind.

Arlen didn't move.

Didn't respond immediately.

Because for the first time—

he felt something unfamiliar.

Not fear.

Not anger.

But weight.

The weight of being seen.

Not as a person—

but as a threat.

"…You brought them."

His voice was calm.

But distant.

Kael stepped forward slightly.

"They came on their own."

A pause.

"…Because they want to live."

Those words struck deeper than any weapon.

Because living—

was something Arlen had lost.

Something he could never return to.

"…Live…"

He repeated the word slowly.

Then looked around.

At the army.

At the sky.

At the world that had chosen to stand against him.

"…And what about her?"

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Because no one had an answer.

Because the world that wanted to live—

had taken everything from him.

The wind grew stronger.

Dust rose.

The space between them—

tightened.

Kael raised his blade slightly.

"…This is your last chance."

His voice was firm.

"…Stop now."

Not a threat.

Not an order.

But a final attempt.

Because even now—

he could see it.

That small part of Arlen—

that still hesitated.

Still remembered.

Still suffered.

Arlen closed his eyes.

Just for a moment.

And in that moment—

everything returned.

Her smile.

Her voice.

Her final breath.

"…If I stop…"

His voice trembled slightly.

"…Will she come back?"

No one answered.

Because the truth—

was cruel.

And absolute.

No.

His eyes opened again.

And whatever softness remained—

faded.

Not completely.

But enough.

Enough to break something.

"…Then this world…"

The air around him shifted.

Heavy.

Dark.

Unstable.

"…has nothing left to give me."

The ground beneath him cracked.

Spreading outward.

Slow.

But unstoppable.

The army tensed.

Weapons raised.

Energy gathered.

Because they understood.

This was it.

The moment that could not be avoided.

The first true war.

Between one existence—

and the entire world.

Kael stepped forward.

Leading.

"…Then we'll take you down."

Simple words.

But filled with resolve.

Arlen looked at them.

All of them.

So many lives.

So many hearts.

So many reasons to fight.

And for a brief second—

something inside him whispered.

This is what she would have wanted.

But that voice—

was too soft.

Too weak.

Compared to the storm inside him.

"…Come."

The word echoed.

Calm.

Cold.

Final.

And in the next moment—

everything moved.

The sky roared.

The earth shook.

Light and darkness collided.

And the world—

began to break.

Because when love turns into loss—

and loss turns into power—

the result is never peace.

It is destruction.

And on that day—

the sky did not protect the earth.

It turned against it.
