Janet's POV
Rollings House - a few days later
"Joshua, come on down. Breakfast is ready."
"Coming," Joshua said as he came down.
"Janet, when can I meet Dad?" he asked in his soft voice.
"Joshua, didn't I tell you? You're too small to go to the hospital."
"Am not," Joshua retorted with folded arms.
"My friend is a year younger than me."
"He went to the hospital to see his sister. She had an apendis operation."
I smiled as he said "apendis" instead of "appendix."
"Joshua, that's because she's in the general ward."
"Dad is in the…."
I trailed off for a bit.
How do I tell a nine-year-old that his father has lost his memory and doesn't remember his only son?
"Dad is under observation. Once the doctor says it's okay, we'll go meet him."
"Okay." He looked down with a sulky expression.
It broke my heart to see him like that, but I had no other option.
I never imagined life would be so chaotic.
Dad doesn't remember Mom.
