"If… if what he said is true… then that's terrifying!" Krillin shivered violently. His face grew paler, cold sweat soaking his back.
"This is… this is far worse than King Piccolo back then!"
King Piccolo only wanted to rule the world.
But the Saiyans?
They intended complete planetary genocide.
"Hey," Son Goku said after recovering from the shock, frowning deeply. "What exactly does the moon do to us? Why do you keep mentioning it?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Kakarot!" Raditz snorted.
"When the moon is full, that's when Saiyans unleash their true power! It's a power engraved in our blood!"
At those words, Master Roshi, Krillin, and Bulma instantly recalled a horrifying memory.
Years ago, at the World Martial Arts Tournament, Goku had seen the full moon…
And transformed into a gigantic rampaging ape.
The destruction had been unstoppable.
Their faces instantly turned pale.
So that terrifying monster…
Was not an accident.
It was a natural Saiyan ability.
Goku stared at Raditz.
"Explain it properly! I still don't understand!"
"What?" Raditz blinked.
Then his gaze suddenly moved behind Goku.
And froze.
"…Where is your tail?!"
"Kakarot! Where's your tail?!"
"I lost it a long time ago," Goku replied casually.
"You idiot!" Raditz exploded with anger.
"No wonder you get along with these weak insects!"
"You threw away your most important source of power!"
Raditz then glanced toward Broly.
"At least look at Broly! His tail is still intact!"
"That's what a Saiyan should look like!"
"Why would you remove your tail?!"
Goku scratched the back of his waist.
"So what does the tail actually do?"
"And what does it have to do with the moon?"
Raditz almost lost his patience.
"Do I really have to spell it out for you?!"
"When a Saiyan with a tail sees the full moon, their eyes receive Blutz Waves, triggering a transformation!"
"We turn into a giant ape!"
"It's in our DNA!"
"You removed your tail, so you lost the ability!"
"But Broly still has his tail!"
"He can still use the moon's power!"
"Giant… ape?" Goku murmured.
His face suddenly went pale.
A terrifying memory surfaced.
The giant monster that had once appeared…
The one that had killed his beloved Grandpa Gohan…
Could it have been…
Himself?
The thought sent chills down his spine.
Then another memory appeared.
The giant ape at the World Martial Arts Tournament.
Was that him too?
No wonder Kami had insisted on removing his tail.
They must have known the truth.
Goku's body trembled slightly.
But then he suddenly turned toward Broly.
During that same tournament…
The moon had been full.
Yet Broly never transformed.
Why?
"…Um," Broly said, breaking the tense silence.
"Can I ask something?"
"Speak," Raditz replied irritably.
"You said Saiyans turn into giant apes under the full moon."
"Yes. That's basic Saiyan knowledge."
"I can't."
Raditz: "…?"
Raditz froze.
He stared at Broly like he had just heard the biggest joke in the universe.
Then he carefully examined him.
Black hair.
Saiyan name.
Powerful physique.
And a tail.
Everything about him screamed Saiyan.
Yet he couldn't transform?
Raditz's brain almost crashed.
"That's impossible!" Raditz snapped.
"Any Saiyan with a tail exposed to Blutz Waves must transform!"
He stared suspiciously at Broly.
Then he came up with an explanation.
"Ah, I see."
"You must have transformed and lost control."
"Some low-class Saiyans lose their memory when they turn into Great Apes."
"No," Broly calmly shook his head.
"I really can't transform."
"When I see the full moon, my body reacts. My power surges."
"But I don't become an ape."
"I turn into… something else."
"Something else?" Raditz frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Broly smiled slightly.
"Like this."
Broly took a breath.
Suddenly—
His muscles expanded rapidly.
His already powerful body grew larger.
His height seemed to increase.
His black hair stood upright.
His eyes sharpened.
A powerful aura surrounded him.
He looked like a muscle-bound war god.
Raditz's jaw dropped.
He had never seen this form before.
It wasn't normal.
And it wasn't Great Ape.
BEEP! BEEP!
Raditz's scouter began flashing rapidly.
"Power level… 100?!"
Raditz read the number in disbelief.
"It increased ten times!"
That was the same multiplier as the Great Ape transformation.
But Broly hadn't become an ape.
He remained human.
"Yep. That's it," Broly said casually.
Then he relaxed.
His muscles shrank back.
His hair fell flat again.
Raditz stared at him silently.
Something felt very wrong.
Then Raditz looked at the sky.
It was daytime.
There was no moon.
Which meant…
Broly increased his power without Blutz Waves.
Raditz felt deeply confused.
Everyone else was also shocked.
Except Launch, who had already seen this form before.
Master Roshi, Krillin, Bulma, and even Goku stared at Broly like they were seeing him for the first time.
"So," Broly asked Raditz calmly,
"Can you explain what that was?"
Raditz hesitated.
"I… don't know."
"I've never seen anything like that."
"It's not in Saiyan records."
"So am I really a Saiyan?" Broly asked.
Raditz was speechless.
After a moment, he suddenly raised his hand.
"Wait."
"I'll ask someone."
Raditz pressed a button on his scouter.
The communication line connected.
"Prince Vegeta, are you there?"
His tone immediately became respectful.
"What is it?" a cold voice answered.
"I found Kakarot."
"But… there's another Saiyan on Earth."
"His name is Broly."
"Prince Vegeta, have you heard of him?"
"Broly?" Vegeta paused.
After thinking for a moment, he replied:
"Yes… I remember that name."
"My father once mentioned him."
"He was sent to the remote planet Vampa."
"But why is he on Earth?"
Raditz nodded.
"So he really is a Saiyan."
"But he says he cannot transform into a Great Ape."
Vegeta sounded slightly surprised.
"Did he lose his tail?"
"No."
"Then what happens?"
Raditz explained Broly's transformation.
A moment of silence followed.
"…I've never seen that either," Vegeta admitted.
"It's probably a mutation."
"Bring him with you."
Raditz nodded quickly.
"Yes, Prince Vegeta!"
Then Vegeta casually asked:
"What's his power level?"
Raditz hesitated.
"…10."
Long silence.
Then Vegeta spoke slowly.
"…10?"
His voice carried pure disdain.
That power level was absurdly low.
Finally Vegeta said:
"Bring him anyway."
"There aren't many Saiyans left."
"Even weak ones might improve."
The call ended.
Raditz looked at Broly again.
"Prince Vegeta confirmed it."
"You are a Saiyan."
"He said you were exiled to Planet Vampa."
"Vampa…" Broly murmured.
The name felt strangely familiar.
Fragments of memory flashed in his mind.
Red skies.
Harsh landscapes.
Endless battles.
Then they vanished.
Raditz waved his hand impatiently.
"Enough about the past."
"I came here to take both of you."
"We found a valuable planet."
"But the natives are stronger than expected."
"So I came to recruit Kakarot."
He glanced at Broly.
"And now there are two of you."
"Four Saiyans together can conquer that planet easily."
"I'm not going," Goku said immediately.
"I'm not helping you conquer other planets."
Raditz sneered.
"You don't get a choice."
Broly scratched his chin.
"How long would it take to travel there?"
Raditz thought for a moment.
"A few months by space pod."
Broly immediately shook his head.
"Nope."
"Too much trouble."
"I'm lazy."
"And I don't like fighting."
"If you invited me to travel there…"
"…try the food…"
"…maybe I'd consider it."
Raditz: "..."
