Theo's POV
The noise didn't stop.
Even after it ended.
Even after the final match.
Even after we stepped off the platform.
It followed.
Whispers.
Voices.
Reactions.
"…Class D swept everything—"
"…Did you see that last move—"
"…That wasn't normal—"
"…Who are they—?"
I kept walking.
Ignoring it.
Because none of it mattered.
Not yet.
Behind me—
Footsteps.
Familiar.
"…Okay, I'm not imagining that, right?" Dax said.
"…We actually just did that?"
"…Yes," Lyra replied.
"…You're talking like you didn't."
"…I mean—I did—but like… we actually won."
"…Cleanly," Ronan added.
"…That matters."
Mira nodded.
"…We didn't lose control."
"…That's what he wanted," she added, glancing at me.
I didn't respond.
Because they already understood.
That was enough.
Kairo stretched behind us.
"…Man… that was fun."
"…Of course you'd say that," Dax muttered.
"…What? It was."
"…You launched someone across the arena."
"…Yeah," Kairo grinned.
"…I should do that again."
"…You're insane."
"…Efficient," Kairo corrected.
Lyra sighed.
"…You're both a problem."
"…Only when it matters," Kairo replied.
"…This mattered."
"…Exactly."
We moved further from the arena.
But the noise didn't fade.
If anything—
It grew.
Students moved around us—
Some pretending not to stare—
Others not even trying.
"…They're looking at us," Dax said quietly.
"…Let them," Lyra replied.
"…You're too calm about this."
"…Because it changes nothing."
"…It kinda does."
"…Not in the way you think."
Ronan stopped walking.
Just for a second.
"…She's right," he said.
"…This wasn't about winning."
"…It was about control."
Mira nodded.
"…And we did it."
Bran looked down at his hand.
A small flame flickered—
Then disappeared.
"…Not enough," he muttered.
Selene glanced at him.
"…You didn't lose control."
"…That's not the same as being strong."
"…It's the foundation," she replied.
"…Strength comes after."
He didn't respond.
But his fist tightened.
He understood.
We kept walking.
The academy halls felt different now.
Not physically.
But—
Perceptually.
Because now—
We weren't invisible.
"…Hey."
A voice from the side.
Not one of ours.
We stopped.
Turned.
Two students.
Class C.
One of them stepped forward.
"…You're Theo, right?"
I didn't answer.
He continued anyway.
"…That last move—what was that?"
"…It doesn't matter," I said.
"…It kinda does."
"…No."
A pause.
He frowned.
"…You think you're better than us now?"
Before I could respond—
Kairo stepped forward.
Grinning.
"…He doesn't think."
"…He knows."
"…Kairo," Lyra said.
"…What? I'm helping."
"…You're not."
The student's expression tightened.
"…This isn't over."
"…It wasn't meant to be," I said.
Silence.
Then—
They left.
Frustrated.
Unsettled.
Dax rubbed the back of his head.
"…We're gonna have problems now, aren't we?"
"…Yes," Selene said.
"…Definitely."
"…Great."
"…You wanted attention," Lyra added.
"…Not this kind."
"…Too late."
We continued walking.
Until—
We reached the quieter part of the academy.
Less noise.
Less eyes.
More—
Space.
The group slowed.
Then stopped.
No one spoke immediately.
Because now—
It was settling.
What just happened.
What it meant.
What came next.
Dax sat down first.
"…Okay… I need a second."
"…You always need a second," Lyra said.
"…Yeah, but this time it's justified."
Mira sat beside him.
"…You did well," she said.
"…Not enough."
"…You didn't lose control."
"…That's not the same."
"…It is for now."
He exhaled.
"…Yeah… for now."
Ronan leaned against the wall.
Quiet.
Thinking.
Selene stood slightly apart.
Watching.
Always watching.
Bran remained standing.
Looking at the ground.
Focused inward.
Kairo dropped down casually.
Hands behind his head.
"…So… who do you think's moving up?"
"…Does it matter?" Lyra asked.
"…A little."
"…Why?"
"…Because I want to know who I'll be fighting next."
Dax groaned.
"…You're actually insane."
"…You keep saying that."
"…Because it's true."
Kairo laughed.
I stayed silent.
Observing.
Because something—
Was off.
Not here.
Not with them.
Somewhere else.
Watching.
The feeling wasn't new.
But it was stronger now.
Like something had taken notice.
After the fight.
After the… anomaly.
My vision flickered.
Briefly.
A distortion.
Faint.
Then—
Gone.
No one reacted.
Good.
That meant—
It was only me.
Again.
"…Theo?"
I looked up.
Mira.
"…You okay?"
"…Yes."
"…You've been quiet."
"…I always am."
"…Not like this."
A pause.
"…I'm thinking."
She nodded.
"…Okay."
She didn't push further.
That helped.
Because I wasn't just thinking.
I was—
Noticing.
The system.
It hadn't appeared again.
Not fully.
But that flicker—
That wasn't nothing.
It was reacting.
To something.
Or—
Someone.
"…We should move," Selene said.
"…Announcements are next."
"…Right," Dax said, standing up.
"…Here we go…"
The group straightened.
Not relaxed.
Not tense.
Ready.
Different from before.
Because now—
They knew what they could do.
What they were capable of.
I stepped forward.
"…Whatever happens next," I said—
They looked at me.
"…Doesn't change what we do."
"…We keep improving."
"…We keep control."
Ronan nodded.
"…Understood."
Lyra crossed her arms.
"…Obviously."
Dax exhaled.
"…Yeah… I'm not staying behind."
"…Then don't," Selene replied.
Bran clenched his fist.
"…I won't."
Kairo grinned.
"…Let's see how far this goes."
I turned.
Walking back toward the arena.
Because now—
It was time.
For judgment.
And somewhere—
Above.
Hidden.
Something was still watching.
More closely than before.
