Camilla took a deep breath. Her chin trembled. She looked down at Damon's dark, serious face.
"Please don't sign the divorce agreement," Camilla said out loud. Her voice was shaking and full of fake sorrow. She let out a loud, pathetic sob. "I don't want to divorce you."
Isabel looked completely confused. Her eyebrows pulled together. She stared at Camilla. She did not understand what was happening. Why was Lady Camilla holding the papers? Why was she crying and begging if she brought the papers herself?
Camilla did not waste any time. She leaned forward. She practically dropped the stack of papers directly onto Damon's lap. The papers landed right on top of his dark red shirt and the edge of his wool blankets.
Damon looked down at the papers. Then, he looked up at his wife. He did not say a word. He just watched her carefully.
