"What... What is happening..." Gu Ling choked out, with her body trembling uncontrollably as her limbs went entirely numb. She looked up at Gu Chen with her eyes filled with desperate panic, expecting him to jump up, grab some antidote, and save her like the hero he always was.
But Gu Chen didn't move an inch.
He simply sat in his chair, looking down at her as the warm, righteous smile filled up his face.
"Don't struggle, Sister Ling," Gu Chen said, his voice filled with the usual warmth as he stared at her helpless struggle, "The poison will just make your meridians lock up tighter if you try to fight it, so just accept it."
Gu Ling stared at him in absolute shock as the realization hit her. Her trusted, noble brother had just poisoned her.
"Why...?" she wheezed as her beautiful eyes turned teary.
Gu Chen stood up and walked around the table before kneeling beside her paralyzed body. He reached out and gently pulled up her chin to make her look up at him.
