Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Trial Begins

When a person with mental issues acts as an instructor, what problems will there be?

When he talks about basic training, can you believe his words?

As a result, Kaede can tell you very clearly: impossible.

On the first day, the training was quite basic. Although some people still didn't pass, the three of them, Kaede and the others, passed quite easily.

However, the next day, the training intensity increased several times over. By the end of training, everyone had collapsed. The next day—merely the second day—the team, which originally had fewer than five hundred people left, was reduced to just over one hundred.

However, according to that instructor, there were still too many people. The Imperial Assassination Unit did not need so many; a few dozen would be enough.

This kind of training continued, and the intensity seemed to depend entirely on the instructor's mood, sometimes heavy, sometimes light.

As for those who failed to meet the requirements, there is no need to speak of their fate.

Kaede, Akame, and Kurome helped each other. In reality, it was mainly Kaede and Akame who often took care of Kurome, as Kurome's physical fitness was slightly inferior.

As for Kaede and Akame, their physical conditions were shockingly similar. After these days of training, their strength and speed were identical. After comparing, Akame even thought the person in front of her was carved from the same mold as herself.

In fact, Akame was right—it was the same mold. Moreover, their training volume was similar, so such a situation would naturally occur. If they were trained separately, perhaps a divergence would have appeared.

Sometimes, Kaede and Akame were both struggling, but both were the type of people who refused to admit defeat and were unwilling to let their younger sister suffer any mishaps. Therefore, they gave their all, pushing beyond their original limits to barely manage to complete the training with Kurome.

That instructor was a result-oriented person; he wouldn't pay attention to what methods you used, as long as you passed the training in the end.

Just like that, the three of them were lucky enough to pass this month of devilish training. The remaining number of people was 72.

This number was not small, but one had to know that there were thousands of people here at the beginning; now, there were surprisingly only 72 people left.

However, it had to be said that the 72 people remaining were all the best of the best; not one was soft-hearted, and not one was weak.

At this moment, the instructor stood there, looking at them, a smile appearing on the corners of his mouth. Then, the smile slowly widened until it covered his entire face.

"Good, very good. To think so many people are still left. Then we can still play a little more."

Indeed, the only thing that could make him happy was this kind of thing—toying with human lives—but no one dared to complain.

Play a little more? All 72 people understood what this meant. It meant that there would be further layoffs, and they didn't know what method would be used for the layoffs.

However, judging by what the instructor said earlier, it seemed to be some kind of competition.

"Next, I will announce the rules of the competition," the instructor said.

Immediately, the 72 people pricked up their ears; no one wanted to lose their life because they misheard the rules.

"There are 72 people left. Next, I will announce that you will compete in pairs, and as for the result of the competition..." The instructor's mouth curled into a smile.

Immediately, the eyes of the 72 people contracted. Even if the instructor didn't say it, they knew exactly what the conditions were. This was their instructor, the instructor who didn't take human life seriously.

"One person must lie down in the arena for it to be considered a victory. Lie down—you know what that means," the instructor said with a smile.

"Understood!"

Even though they were protesting, feeling unwilling, and reluctant in their hearts, all 72 people shouted at the same time, without a single error.

"There are weapons here; choose for yourselves." After the instructor finished speaking, two Soldiers carried up a box of weapons, with all kinds available.

Can we use weapons? Kaede was stunned for a moment, then a smile appeared at the corners of her mouth. For others, the boost from weapons wasn't great, but she was different. Give her a Tachi, and she could defeat a version of herself that didn't have a Tachi. This was the difference.

Then the instructor began to call out the names of the first group.

The first person to walk out was relatively strong, and he took a spear.

As for the other person, his physique was relatively thin and weak. However, he saw the first person take the spear, and there was only one spear there, so he took a long axe.

Seeing the second person's actions, Kaede knew that this competition had no suspense left.

Even though they both passed the training, there was still a gap in strength between them. Just like the first person, he was probably still a bit uncoordinated when wielding the spear, but there was no lack of fluidity.

But the second person—heh, just looking at the way he held the weapon, one knew it was difficult for him to wield the weapon freely. So, how could you expect him to win?

Sure enough, after barely a few moves, the second person struck the ground with his axe and couldn't pull it out, and then was directly pierced through by the first person's spear.

A Soldier nearby directly announced the result and started the next round.

The two people in the second competition started snatching right from the beginning; both wanted to grab that spear, resulting in a situation where the two of them were each holding one end, refusing to give in to each other.

Then, was there anyone to mediate such a situation? Hmm, of course there was. The instructor directly gave each of those two a lash of the whip. Even after a month of training, looking at the result, they still couldn't withstand a lash from the instructor.

The two of them no longer had a chance to compete and lay as corpses, their blood spilling directly onto the spear, which remained stuck between the two of them.

"Next group..."

Having learned from the previous group's lesson, these two didn't go to snatch any spear, but found a suitable weapon and started fighting. Although this match was still like children playing house, they were able to fight for a long time.

The next few groups were the same. Although the fighting was unsightly, the two people were already able to engage in offensive and defensive battles.

"Next group, Akame, Hiraoka Yousei."

Finally, the first of the three was about to take the stage.

"Sister, go for it!" Kurome cheered for Akame from the side.

"Be careful," Kaede said. Suddenly, she felt a bit regretful about why she hadn't taught them how to use a Tachi. But Kaede didn't stop to think that every day had been like that; even if she wanted to teach them, they wouldn't have had the energy to learn.

"Mhm!" Akame nodded and walked up.

However, even so, Akame finally walked to the front of the weapon box and ultimately chose a Tachi.

And the person opposite her pulled out that spear, still wet with blood, and stood opposite Akame.

The battle belonging to Akame began right then!
