Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Mission Start

Bill sat there with a gloomy face, because he had failed; the hypnosis he thought was a sure thing had failed.

Everything had been going smoothly, but as soon as Kaede was mentioned, Kurome had broken through the hypnosis. Now that she was alert, Kurome would not give Bill a second chance to hypnotize her.

At this moment, Bill felt a bit of regret. If he had known, he would not have mentioned Kaede in front of Kurome. He had not expected Kaede to be such an important existence in Kurome's heart, especially considering his research into hypnosis was not shallow.

"Bang!" At that moment, Bill's door was knocked.

"Come in," Bill said with a gloomy face.

The person who walked in respectfully handed Bill a letter.

Bill was stunned when he saw the sender; it was actually Gozuki, his old friend. A strange curiosity overcame his inner annoyance, and Bill began to read the letter Gozuki had sent.

After a long while, Bill burst into laughter.

So that was it—to have Kaede go over and help them deal with those assassins. Bill understood that this was likely just an excuse; Gozuki had probably taken a liking to Kaede as well.

However, how could Bill let go? She was Bill's trump card, having been trained under conditions exceeding the Elite Group, and now Kaede showed him the possibility of attaining a higher status, so he could not give her up.

Human greed grows gradually. At first, Bill did not have such big ideas, but after seeing such an excellent Kaede, his ambition could not help but swell.

"This excuse!" A mocking smile appeared on the corner of Bill's mouth. "Just sending Kaede is enough. Let her take care of all those people, and let's see what excuse Gozuki has then!"

Saying this, Bill glanced at the messenger standing there and said, "Call Kaede."

"Uh, Milord, Kaede was just sent out by you; we cannot find her." The person broke into a cold sweat. It had been like this before; they never managed to find Kaede until she completed her mission and appeared before them on her own, letting them know she had finished.

"Useless!" With a cold snort, Bill remembered this matter. As a trump card, Kaede was not only undetectable by enemies, but even they could not find her. It seemed they would just have to wait for Kaede to finish all her missions.

However, what surprised Bill was that a few missions, which might take a whole day just for travel, were completed by Kaede by the evening.

"Mission completed?" Surprise appeared in Bill's eyes.

"Completed." Kaede looked at Bill, a mocking smile on her lips. "Did you really need me for those kinds of missions?" Indeed, the morning's missions were the type that did not even require thinking, just going up and brute-forcing it; they were practically treating her like manual labor.

"It seems you have become even stronger again." A flash of joy appeared in Bill's eyes, but deep within, a hint of worry also flickered.

Why worry? Because the person before him was simply too dazzling. Bill had a feeling that he might not be able to control such a person, especially after the failure to hypnotize Kurome.

"This is your next mission." Bill handed Kaede another file.

"..." Kaede frowned. Not letting her rest? But looking at the madness in Bill's eyes, Kaede suddenly sensed something suspicious and took the file to look at her mission.

"Obergehr?" Kaede's eyes narrowed. Unlike those who were always training and knew nothing of it, Kaede had heard of the great name of Obergehr, an assassin group. Any mission they accepted had never been failed.

"Yes, your mission is to eliminate all those assassins who have come to kill us!" Bill licked his lips. He would absolutely not let go; absolutely not.

"Understood, I will set out tomorrow," Kaede nodded and said.

"Go now!" Bill frowned and said.

"Now, I'm going to rest." Ignoring the gloomy-faced Bill, Kaede walked out of his office. Listening to Bill's angry roar, a playful glint flashed in her eyes. Did he really think of her as a tool that did not know fatigue? Well, alright, after her enhancement, Kaede felt that she could go on for days without rest.

However, obviously, Kaede could not do that. When there was still a soft Kurome in the room to hug, why would she go on a mission now?

However, the daytime missions also gave Kaede a rough understanding of the current state of her body. Very strong, hmm, very strong. It could be said she had jumped up many levels, to the point where Kaede could not even control her body very well.

Originally, Kaede wanted to rest and strengthen her control over her body, but now it seemed impossible. Is a famous reputation often unearned? If only that were the case, but Obergehr—the organization that naturally comes to mind whenever the outside world mentions assassin groups—how could it be an empty reputation?

Kaede knew that this was likely her strongest target ever. However, Kaede was not worried that something would happen to her; after all, she had also become stronger. Taking her life would not be so easy.

Thinking this, Kaede opened the door, and then saw Kurome pounce on her, seemingly still crying.

"Kurome, what's wrong?" Seeing Kurome like this, an icy chill began to emanate from Kaede involuntarily. Who dared to bully her sister?

"Nothing." Kurome hesitated for a moment but ultimately did not tell Kaede about Bill trying to hypnotize her.

"It was Bill, right?" Actually, it was easy to think of Bill. Here, only he would dare to lay a hand on her sister. You have to know, apart from Bill, in everyone else's eyes, she was synonymous with a demon. Would anyone dare to lay a hand on a demon's beloved?

"Mm." Kurome rubbed against Kaede and finally nodded.

"Heh, let him jump around for a little longer." Kaede restrained the killing intent in her eyes and muttered. She could not yet fight against everyone here alone, but it would not be long.

"Kaede, you?" Hearing Kaede's words, Kurome was stunned.

"It's nothing, let's go to sleep." Kaede also knew that Kurome had been brainwashed by Bill once, and she couldn't stop it, but it was just brainwashing; there was no need to worry.

"Mhm." Kurome nodded and didn't ask further. As long as her sister didn't do anything to betray the Empire, everything else was fine. In her eyes, Bill could not represent the Empire.

And so, Kaede once again got her wish, holding Kurome's soft body as she drifted off to sleep.

Early the next morning, Kaede opened her eyes and left without waking Kurome, heading toward the general location given by the mission.

At this moment, Kaede still held a trace of anticipation. Obergehr—Kaede also wanted to know what exactly made them different from ordinary assassins! Whether they were stronger, or if she was stronger!
