Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

"You have a strong spirit and will; you almost broke free from the spell halfway through, so I added a bit of magic." Hen nodded with satisfaction, a slight hint of approval in his eyes.

At that moment, Hen glanced to the right, and magic resembling flames flared up, and Triss's figure teleported to the side.

Hen hadn't just looked at Triss; he had sensed someone else opening a portal.

BOOM! And indeed, two meters away from Triss,

an orange swirling portal opened, and Fercart immediately appeared before the three of them.

Before Fercart could even see the scene before him, he took the initiative to speak in a deep voice.

"Triss, you'd better have a reasonable explanation for why you've opened a portal several times in a row..."

When he clearly saw the scene before him and the three of them, he suddenly froze, and the words he wanted to spit out were caught in his throat.

"Uh... Hen?! You are here, in Vizima?" Fercart's face changed slightly, and sweat gradually appeared on his forehead.

He looked away and stared at the bare ground, not daring to look directly at Hen.

"What? Where I go, do I need to report to you?" Hen said without expression.

"No... No, of course not. It's your freedom to go where you please, and I have no right to interfere."

"It's just... you've come to Vizima, and I at least deserve to receive you personally."

Fercart turned to Hen, his words not flowing smoothly, seeming to stumble.

"Hmph, no need for the reception. I won't be staying long this time." Hen turned and looked at the chaotic scene.

Without any noticeable movement from him, the ground beneath everyone's feet trembled slightly.

The pits around him, like the earth that had been excavated three feet deep, quickly began to fill in and level out again.

However, in just a few seconds, except for the trees that had been cut down at waist height, they could not be restored to normal.

The ground was completely flat, with no signs of the previous shockwave damage.

This was beyond their perception of spellcasting, leaving both Fercart and Triss in shock.

What was happening? No gestures, no incantations? No spellcasting action at all.

And the magical fluctuations were almost imperceptible; could he cast spells with just the power of thought?

Were there sorcerers in the world capable of such a feat?

After all this, Hen turned to everyone with a calm expression.

He showed no signs of exertion and didn't look like he had cast a spell at all.

For Triss and Fercart, who displayed horror, Hen didn't waste his breath explaining, but instead said this to Karl.

"Karl, would you like to become my student?"

"You know my name?" Karl was startled and suppressed his slightly surprised expression.

"I was able to probe the situation mentally earlier and learned it from your conversation." Hen smiled and nodded.

"Uh, become your student? What are the benefits for me?" Karl asked directly.

Before Hen could say anything, Fercart on the side looked displeased and interrupted: "The Dean of Ben Adé Academy is willing to take you as a student; it's an honor you should cherish."

"Instead of asking about etiquette like an uneducated savage."

"Fercart, I am talking to Karl. Now is not the time for you to speak." Hen glanced indifferently at Fercart and said coolly.

Having received an inexplicable scolding, Fercart was stunned and immediately understood.

Hen's attitude towards Karl was simply extraordinary, and he obviously valued this person greatly.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spoken in that tone." Fercart quickly lowered his head and apologized.

Hen looked away from Fercart and smiled faintly as he turned his head to Karl.

"Benefits? Karl, you are very straightforward. I don't know how many years it has been since anyone dared to speak to me so directly in my presence."

"As Fercart said, I am the dean of Ben Adé College." There was always a smile on Hen's face, his tone calm and without impatience.

"If you want to be my student, I have a collection of spell books and such; you can read them as you wish, and I will personally guide your magic."

"In addition, I am one of the founders of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers and am currently a member of the Chapter of Talent and Opportunity."

Hen's tone was very level, without a trace of arrogance, and he clearly stated his titles and honors.

Karl leaned on his elbow against his cheek, calmly listening to Hen's account, occasionally nodding.

Triss, who was beside him, pressed her red lips together, impatience in her eyes, her eyelids fluttering frequently.

She wanted to walk over and grab Karl by the shoulder, then shake him vigorously.

She wanted to ask Karl why he didn't agree, why he was still hesitating?

As for the possibility of mentally reminding Karl, she never even considered it.

When Hen had used his mind to locate them and speak with them earlier, she had understood that the other party's mental power was extremely powerful.

Several people were so close; mentally reminding Karl would be tantamount to speaking ill of others in Hen's presence, which was obviously inappropriate.

Although Fercart on the side didn't say a word, his demeanor was similar to Triss's.

Envy and jealousy were practically bursting from the depths of his eyes.

He curled his lip and glanced at the thoughtful Karl.

This guy had no idea what the two titles Hen had mentioned actually meant.

There were two academies in the North: one was Ben Adé, which only accepted male sorcerers, and Aretuza, which only accepted women.

As the dean of the academy, Hen had nurtured countless outstanding students, and the resources in his hands were immense, surpassing the imagination of ordinary sorcerers.

And being one of the founders of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers and a member of the Chapter of Talent and Opportunity was even more insane.

You know, a sorcerer's placement after graduating from the academy had to be decided by the brotherhood.

Sorcerers who broke the brotherhood's rules could only be adjudicated by members of the brotherhood, and the king had no right to arbitrate sorcerers.

The brotherhood's enforcement team could directly decide the life or death of sorcerers who violated the brotherhood's laws.

And most of this extremely enticing power belonged to Hen and another member, Tissaia.

The Brotherhood of Sorcerers had two governing bodies: the first was the Chapter of Talent and Opportunity, and the second was the Council of Sorcerers.

These two councils could be called the upper and lower houses, or the magic society and council.

The nomination of members for the lower house would also depend on the upper house, in addition to the votes of lower house members.

The brotherhood had assigned him as a royal advisor to Temeria for many years, let alone the upper house; he hadn't even been assigned to the lower house.

This child could be personally accepted by Hen as a student.

This undoubtedly proved that his talent was far superior to that of ordinary sorcerers; perhaps he was a source sorcerer.

Once this young man became Hen's student, Hen would diligently cultivate him, and his future achievements, even magical attainments,

at worst, would be at the level of the upper house, and it wasn't impossible for him to succeed Hen.

Everything he had dreamed of was within this young man's reach. How could he not be envious, even jealous?
