Chapter 278 - Chapter 279

At this moment, both Karl and the obelisk were momentarily forgotten. The mangled fish-like monster that had dared to ambush him had become his primary enemy, to be destroyed immediately. Several sharp spider legs, glowing with an eerie green light, rapidly extended, aimed at Dagon's chest.

In this cold starry sky, two equally fierce and malevolent evil gods clashed. In the void, black mist churned, ominous light flickered, and waves of energy collisions erupted continuously.

And Karl, the instigator of all this and the original "primary target"... Seeing this, he was first slightly puzzled, then a playful smile appeared on his lips. Interesting... It seemed that although they were both "evil gods," there was considerable discord between different pantheons and different personalities... which saved him a lot of trouble.

Thoughts raced through his mind as the intense golden light surrounding Karl began to rapidly dissipate. Simultaneously, his biokinetic field took effect, and in an instant, his figure became increasingly faint under its influence. Ultimately, the starlight completely merged with the background and darkness, his presence reduced to a minimum by the forcefield. Since they had already started fighting each other, all he had to do was watch. Who knew, he might find another opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

Karl hovered in the void at the edge of the battlefield, his gaze fixed on the two evil gods fighting each other, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Meanwhile, in the divine realm where birds sang, flowers bloomed, and life flourished...

Freya lounged lazily on a chair made of naturally growing and intertwining vines. Before her floated a mirror with intricate golden patterns carved along its edges, and countless tiny runes flowing within. In the mirror was reflected not her own image, but a corner of the boundless starry sky and the scenes unfolding there. From Karl lifting the "mountain" to break through the atmosphere, to the magic circle incinerating Dagon. Then the Lion-headed Spider appeared and was wounded, and at this moment the two evil gods were fiercely fighting each other while Karl secretly observed the battle... Everything was clearly reflected in the mirror.

First, seeing Karl was able to lift the entire island along with the obelisk and the sludge, she was amazed. When he managed to break through the magic circle she had created, Freya was so shocked she nearly rose from her seat. Her beautiful hand was raised, and rainbow light began to gather around her, ready to immediately activate the Rainbow Bridge. Then they would forcibly teleport this extremely reckless "little man" back to the divine realm.

In the starry sky, danger lurked everywhere, and the evil gods and malevolent beings surrounding this world were far more numerous than one or two. In her opinion, no matter how powerful Karl was, he was still only a demigod. How could he withstand a possible siege?

However, what happened next made her pause. She saw Karl instantly decipher the Lion-headed Spider's ambush and wound it. And then she saw his current calm, stealthy, and opportunistic shrewdness...

"Hmph, this guy..." Freya's surprise gradually turned into deep contemplation and a hint of approval. "It seems I somewhat underestimated him."

"It's not just his rate of growth, but also this calmness, deliberation, and... cunning in the face of battle."

She slowly lowered her raised hand, and the rainbow light on her palm quietly dissipated. Hmm... let's see if Karl can handle two evil god clones on his own. Even if it's just a heavy blow or banishment, it would bring enormous benefits to the world and even to herself...

Of course, if the battle situation became unfavourable for Karl. Even if faced with unbearable danger... she would immediately bring him back. Because Karl was the most promising candidate for godhood in history. To protect this world, his strength was needed; they must never allow him to suffer irreparable harm.

---

I don't know how much time passed — perhaps a few minutes, perhaps more.

The battle between the two evil gods had entered an intense, or rather, brutal phase. Dagon had gained an absolute advantage through the power transmitted from the obelisk, the replenishment of that energy, and its fearless and maddened fighting style. Its remaining hand now gripped a severed forelimb of the Lion-headed Spider, using it as an improvised weapon. Then it swung desperately and smashed the lion's head of the spider. Each strike was accompanied by splatters of dark-green fluid. The Lion-headed Spider's roars grew increasingly filled with pain and fury.

The Lion-headed Spider's condition, compared to its terrifying and fierce appearance upon first arrival, could only be described as pitiful. Three of the eight limbs it relied on for movement and attack had been torn off, and thick dark-green fluid constantly flowed from the broken ends. It was forced to retreat step by step, and the giant web that had once covered the sky and enshrouded the stars had also been torn to shreds in the fierce battle.

Initially, the Lion-headed Spider had held the upper hand and suppressed Dagon using stealth, surprise attacks, and unpredictable abilities. However, it had expended too much energy weaving the giant web, maintaining its concealed position, and had been unsettled by the obelisk's spiritual impact. Despite being wounded, Dagon had recovered his strength through the obelisk, and his fighting style had become even more frenzied... The situation had turned, and the course of events had been completely reversed.

Concealed in the shadows, Karl analysed the battlefield situation, his eyes gleaming. So... it's clear that the Lion-headed Spider is much weaker. Should we... take this opportunity to strike it and give it a good beating?

His gaze swept across the seemingly empty void around the Lion-headed Spider. Through his divine power and superhuman senses, he exposed even the most insidious web traps, invisible to the naked eye. These were silk threads that the Lion-headed Spider had secretly laid out during its battle with Dagon, to guard against a sudden attack from Karl. These spider threads, thin as hair and almost transparent, were hidden against the background of the void. They interwove to form deadly, sticky, and corrosive traps. Upon contact, one would be immediately entangled, bound, and subjected to continuous erosion.

"Heh heh... quite cautious, keeping a backup plan in mind," Karl chuckled inwardly. Unfortunately... this thing was completely unnecessary for him, as he had confirmed during his battle with Dagon. His divine power had a natural suppressive and cleansing effect on these evil gods.

Suddenly, Karl's body faintly glowed again, but did not fully materialise. Tiny golden sparks silently appeared around him, shielding him. In the next moment, he stopped hiding and, like a golden bolt of lightning, suddenly charged at the Lion-headed Spider's back as it struggled to fend off Dagon's fierce assault.

He did not rush directly into the trap and web zone, but waited until the very last moment before making contact. The flames surrounding his body suddenly surged toward the hidden web before him.

"FWOOSH!!!" The hidden black web burst into flames the instant it made contact, like gasoline meeting an open flame.
