"Captain…?" Alex croaked on the other end of the terminal.
Neo's free hand clenched and unclenched. Alex's voice grated his ears and increased the anger he was trying to contain. He thought the anger and hatred he felt towards Alex the traitor would have lightened a bit considering the time and distance.
But after hearing his voice, Neo could confirm that he still felt the same feelings for Alex as the day he left him inside that cursed dungeon—betrayal, anger, hatred, and slight understanding perhaps.
"Why do you have Addie's phone?" Alex asked with a cautious voice. Without waiting for Neo to respond, he continued speaking. "Where is he? Why are you—"
"We're at the hospital." Neo said curtly, cutting Alex off.
The line was silent for a few seconds before Alex found his voice once again.
"... How cruel can you be?" Alex's voice was tinged with terror. Neo's brows furrowed for a moment.
