Chapter 5 - A Role Of Her Own

Garima sprawled across the tile of the shrine. Tracing invisible pattern on the floor with her finger

"Are we starting anytime soon? Because I am bored"

The woman shook her head. She looked as if she was rethinking her choice. Garima was like a hurricane, a sudden, unstoppable force.

"I am creating an identity for you, it's inefficient for a goddess to walk among mortals, but still you need a position with authority"

"Wait, wait what did you say? Goddess? Me? Do I look like a goddess!" Garima exclaimed. It was absurd.

"But you are the creator, you are like a Goddess"

The women insisted.

"Too much work. That's the reason I refused to be a Doctor or an Engineer or something else. It's always too much work. Anyway I will go back. Give me something temporary. The Goddess sounds too heavy for me" Garima stated, this time lying down on the tile floor.

"Okay I understand," the woman murmured.

"You are more suited for the Goddess Role"

"I was filling the role of the Saintess who disappeared"

"I remember writing about it, so you became that Saintess"

"More like a stand-in or a substitute if you prefer a name. I cannot change what you wrote, but I can maintain it. Take the place of something missing." The woman replied.

"So why don't you be the Goddess?" Garima asked.

"I am just a caretaker," the woman answered.

"I will leave after this world is stable. You will be here, so why not?" Garima was confused. The woman was already doing what a cosmic being should do. Protecting the world. Trying to save it.

"I…am just a medium...this position doesn't suit me"

"It does, you are ethereal like a cosmic being."

"Is that how to identify a Cosmic entity? By their beauty?" The woman laughed.

Garima sat up and smiled.

"Don't know! Never seen one! You are the first. You summoned me….that's a great feat."

"I just borrowed the world's power….which came from you. As I said I am just a medium" The woman replied.

"I don't care, you should be the Goddess. I will be the one below"

"Below"

"I will be the Saintess, I remember writing about the Saintess had authority on par with the king, it will do"

"That sounds do-able, I still need time to think about the Goddess position" The woman murmured the second part a bit slower.

"No, worries. I will spread your name as the Saintess. With a banner" Garima grinned.

"You look so amused. I remember you were sniffing and crying a few minutes before" The woman teased.

"Let bygones be bygones, let's focus on my adventure now" Garima yelled, her voice high.

"Okay I will send a prophecy about a new Saintess who will arrive from the upper realms, who was a lost child. Raised by the Goddess. Now with the rise of the Devil's forces, she was sent down to assist the warriors, that backstory will suffice" The woman analysed.

"I accept this noble responsibility" Garima laughed

"You seem pleased" A knowing smile grazed the woman's lips.

Garima didn't reply. She jumped up. And shouted loudly.

"Yes! I am going on and adventure"

The echo of her voice lingered.

"So chaotic" The woman watched her with patience, like this was exactly what she expected.

"I have been told," Garima laughed.

The women laughed and continued to work. She wrote the message on the stone tablet. The language looked ancient but it was readable in a styled font. And Garima could read and write this language too. Maybe it was the perks of being the creator.

"So lady, we have been talking for so long, but you didn't give your name. What should I call you?" Garima asked nonchalantly gazing at her work.

"I do not possess a name," she said "Names are identifiers and I am a medium of the world….not created by the creator, I wasn't given one"

Garima blinked " So it's my fault. Then how about "Eternal Overseer Of the World?"

"No"

"Why?"

"No"

"Then what should I call you"

"Just medium will suffice" the woman replied calmly

" I am the creator, So I can name you right?" Garima stated.

The woman nodded. A little uneasy.

Garima stared at her for a second longer.

"...You look like a Cosmic Deity"

Silence followed.

"A Cosmic Lady?" Garima squinted. "How about Cosmo"

The woman didn't react. "You are the creator of this world, and yes you may assign any designation to me, but that name is little.."the woman started stating camly

"Cosmo" Garima tapped her chin stopping The woman mid sentence. "This sounds good. I will stick to that"

The woman tilted her head, as if giving up a little.

"Accepted"

Garima snorted. It sounded to easy to coax this woman.

The woman turned around. And light started to gather along the shrine floor. It slipped between the tiles and then it rose, forming a doorway of brightness. Beyond it were mountains, forests, and cities.

Garima took a step closer, eyes wide.

"That's my world"

"Yes"

"Wow, Okay So, let's do this"

The woman nodded and then lifted her hand. There was something within her palm. It looked like an artifact. Something that Garima couldn't name.

"Take it." She said,

Garima took it from her. But before she could ask. The scenery in the gateway shifted. Now it looked like the interiors of a building.

Garima grinned then took a soft breath. Steady this time.

"It's Adventure time"

And then she went through it.
