Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Control and Command

The room was silent again.

But this time, the silence felt different.

Heavier.

Deeper.

More real.

---

Rahul stood still, his breathing slowly returning to normal. Sweat still clung to his skin, but his eyes… had changed.

There was something new in them.

Not just power.

Understanding

He looked at the old man.

"They're not gone," Rahul said quietly

The old man nodded.

"They never were."

Rahul clenched his fist slightly.

"I can feel them… even now."

And it was true.

Deep inside him, that dark energy still moved.

Slow.

Watching.

Waiting.

The old man stepped forward.

"Good.

Rahul frowned slightly.

"Good?"

"Yes," the old man replied calmly.

"If you can feel them… it means you haven't lost yourself yet.

Rahul didn't respond.

But his eyes remained focuse

"What you experienced," the old man continued,

"was not a dream."

"It was a connection.

Rahul nodded slowly.

"I figured that."

The old man raised his hand slightly.

"Now the real training begins."

Rahul's expression sharpened

"Sit again."

Rahul didn't argue this time.

He sat down immediately.

Cross-legged.

Back straight.

Eyes forward

The old man stood in front of him.

"This time… you won't just observ

A pau

"You will guide."

---

Rahul's eyes narrowed slightl

"Close your eyes."

Rahul obeyed.

Darkness returned.

But this time—

It wasn't empty

The moment his mind settled—

He felt it again.

That same energy.

Flowing.

Burning.

Moving like a living storm inside him.

"Find it," the old man's voice echoed.

Rahul focused.

He followed the movement.

The flow.

The chaos.

It didn't have a shape.

Didn't have a form.

But it was there.

Everywhere inside him

"I see it," Rahul said

"Good," the old man replied.

"Now don't stop it."

Rahul remained still.

"Don't block it."

He didn't

"Don't fight it.

He didn't

"Guide it."

Rahul's mind paused for a moment

Guide?

"How?" he asked.

The old man's voice remained calm.

"Intent."

---

Rahul frowned.

---

"Don't force it," the old man continued.

"Just… give it direction."

---

Rahul took a slow breath.

---

He focused again.

---

This time—

He didn't try to control the energy.

He simply… suggested movement.

---

A direction.

---

Forward.

---

For a brief moment—

Nothing happened.

---

Then—

The energy shifted.

---

Slightly.

But it moved.

---

Rahul's eyes widened behind closed lids.

"It moved…"

---

"Yes," the old man said.

"Again."

---

Rahul repeated it.

---

This time—

The movement was clearer.

---

The energy flowed from his chest…

…toward his arm.

---

Rahul slowly raised his right hand.

---

The energy followed.

---

It gathered.

Concentrated.

---

Rahul could feel it clearly now.

Not chaotic.

Not wild.

---

Focused.

---

"Open your eyes," the old man said.

---

Rahul did.

---

His hand was glowing faintly red.

---

Energy pulsed around it.

---

But this time—

It wasn't unstable.

---

It was controlled.

---

Rahul stared at it.

"…This is different."

---

The old man nodded.

"Yes."

---

"This is control."

---

Rahul clenched his fist.

---

The energy didn't explode.

Didn't lash out.

---

It stayed.

Contained.

---

For the first time—

Rahul felt it.

---

Real control.

---

---

"Now stand."

---

Rahul stood up.

---

The old man stepped back.

---

"Attack."

---

Rahul didn't hesitate.

---

He raised his hand—

And released the energy forward.

---

A powerful force shot across the room.

---

But this time—

It didn't explode randomly.

---

It moved in a straight line.

Precise.

Sharp.

---

BOOM.

---

It hit the wall—

Creating a clean, focused impact.

Not destruction.

Not chaos.

---

Accuracy.

---

Rahul stared at the mark.

---

"…I did that."

---

The old man smiled slightly.

---

"Yes."

---

"Again."

---

Rahul attacked again.

---

And again.

---

Each time—

More controlled.

More precise.

More efficient.

---

Minutes turned into hours.

---

Rahul didn't stop.

---

He practiced—

Directing energy.

Focusing power.

Maintaining control.

---

Each attack became sharper.

Cleaner.

Stronger.

---

But without losing balance.

---

---

Finally—

Rahul stopped.

---

His breathing steady.

His body calm.

---

The old man walked toward him.

---

"Good."

---

Rahul looked at him.

---

"…This is just the beginning, right?"

---

The old man nodded.

---

"Yes."

---

A pause.

---

"Control is only the first step."

---

Rahul frowned slightly.

---

"What's next?"

---

The old man's eyes darkened slightly.

---

"Command."

---

Silence.

---

Rahul tilted his head.

---

"Command?"

---

The old man nodded.

---

"You've learned to guide the power."

---

A pause.

---

"Now…"

---

"You must make it obey."

---

Rahul's expression became serious.

---

"What's the difference?"

---

The old man replied calmly—

---

"When you guide…"

"The power follows your suggestion."

---

A pause.

---

"When you command…"

---

"It has no choice."

---

Rahul's eyes sharpened.

---

"That sounds better."

---

The old man didn't smile.

---

"It is also more dangerous."

---

---

"Sit again."

---

Rahul sat down once more.

---

"Close your eyes."

---

Darkness returned.

---

The energy was there again.

Flowing.

Moving.

Alive.

---

"Find it," the old man said.

---

Rahul did.

---

"Now…"

---

"Command it."

---

Rahul focused.

---

This time—

He didn't suggest.

---

He ordered.

---

Stop.

---

The energy resisted.

---

It didn't listen.

---

Rahul frowned.

---

"Again."

---

STOP.

---

This time—

The energy reacted violently.

---

It surged.

Exploded.

---

Rahul's body shook.

---

Pain shot through him.

---

His eyes snapped open.

---

"Damn it!"

---

The old man remained calm.

---

"You tried to dominate it."

---

Rahul glared.

---

"That's the point."

---

The old man shook his head.

---

"No."

---

A pause.

---

"You tried to dominate it…"

"…without understanding it."

---

---

Rahul stayed silent.

---

The old man continued—

---

"You don't command power with force."

---

"You command it with authority."

---

Rahul narrowed his eyes.

---

"…Explain."

---

---

The old man stepped closer.

---

"That power is not separate from you."

---

"It is part of you."

---

A pause.

---

"So if you don't control yourself…"

---

"You cannot command it."

---

---

Silence.

---

Rahul understood.

---

Slowly.

---

"…So I need to accept it first."

---

The old man nodded.

---

"Yes."

---

---

Rahul closed his eyes again.

---

This time—

He didn't see it as something external.

---

He saw it as part of himself.

---

The darkness.

The energy.

The power.

---

All of it.

---

His.

---

---

He took a deep breath.

---

And spoke internally—

---

Stop.

---

The energy resisted.

---

But not violently this time.

---

It slowed.

---

Just slightly.

---

Rahul focused more.

---

STOP.

---

Silence.

---

The energy…

Paused.

---

For a brief moment—

Everything inside him became still.

---

Rahul's eyes opened.

---

"…I did it."

---

The old man smiled faintly.

---

"Yes."

---

---

Rahul stood up slowly.

---

A new confidence appeared in him.

---

Not arrogance.

---

Control.

---

Real control.

---

---

"Now…" the old man said,

---

"Use it."

---

Rahul raised his hand.

---

This time—

The energy responded instantly.

---

Not wild.

Not chaotic.

---

Obedient.

---

Rahul clenched his fist—

---

And the energy compressed into a single point.

---

Dense.

Powerful.

---

He released it forward.

---

BOOM.

---

The impact shook the entire house.

---

But again—

It was controlled.

---

Focused.

---

Perfect.

---

---

Rahul lowered his hand.

---

"…This feels different."

---

The old man nodded.

---

"It should."

---

A pause.

---

"You're no longer just using power."

---

"You're mastering it."

---

---

Silence filled the room.

---

Rahul looked at his hands.

---

For the first time—

He didn't feel overwhelmed.

---

He didn't feel lost.

---

He didn't feel out of control.

---

---

He felt…

In charge.

---

---

But deep inside—

That darkness still remained.

---

Watching.

---

Waiting.

---

Because this was only the beginning.

---

And the true test…

---

Had not even started yet.Night had fallen over Gaya.

The outside world was quiet, but inside the old house—

A new kind of tension had begun to build.

---

Rahul stood in the center of the room.

His body relaxed.

His mind sharp.

The energy inside him was no longer chaotic like before.

It moved with purpose.

With direction.

With control.

---

But the old man's expression…

Was not satisfied.

---

"You've learned fast," he said.

---

Rahul looked at him.

"That's obvious."

---

The old man didn't react to the confidence in his tone.

Instead, he said—

"That's exactly the problem."

---

Silence.

---

Rahul frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

---

The old man stepped closer.

"You think control means mastery."

---

A pause.

---

"It doesn't."

---

Rahul crossed his arms.

"Then what does?"

---

The old man's eyes sharpened.

"Limits."

---

---

Rahul didn't speak.

But his attention was fully locked now.

---

"You have power," the old man continued.

"You can guide it."

"You can command it."

---

A pause.

---

"But can you stop yourself from using it?"

---

---

That question…

Was different.

---

Rahul didn't answer immediately.

---

Because the truth was simple.

---

He hadn't tried.

---

---

The old man continued—

---

"Power without limits…"

"…always leads to destruction."

---

Rahul smirked faintly.

"Destruction isn't always bad."

---

The old man didn't disagree.

But he added—

---

"Uncontrolled destruction is."

---

---

Silence filled the room again.

---

Rahul looked away slightly.

Thinking.

---

---

"Let's test something," the old man said.

---

Rahul looked back.

---

The old man pointed toward a small wooden table in the corner of the room.

---

"Break it."

---

Rahul raised his hand casually.

---

Energy gathered instantly.

---

He was about to release it—

---

"Stop."

---

Rahul froze.

---

His hand still raised.

Energy still gathered.

---

"What?" he asked.

---

The old man looked directly into his eyes.

---

"Don't break it."

---

---

Rahul frowned.

---

"You just told me to break it."

---

"Yes."

---

"And now I'm telling you not to."

---

---

Silence.

---

Rahul's eyes narrowed slightly.

---

"This is pointless."

---

The old man shook his head.

---

"No."

---

A pause.

---

"This is the first rule."

---

---

Rahul didn't move.

---

The energy in his hand began to tremble slightly.

---

Because he hadn't released it.

---

He hadn't stopped it either.

---

---

"Control is not about using power," the old man said.

---

"It's about choosing when not to."

---

---

Rahul's jaw tightened slightly.

---

The energy in his hand grew unstable.

---

It wanted to be released.

---

It demanded action.

---

---

"Let it go," the old man said calmly.

---

"Not forward."

---

"Let it fade."

---

---

Rahul's eyes flickered.

---

Let it fade?

---

That was different.

---

He had learned to guide it.

To command it.

---

But not…

To stop it.

---

---

Rahul slowly lowered his hand.

---

The energy resisted.

---

It pulsed violently.

---

Like it didn't want to disappear.

---

---

His breathing became heavier.

---

"Focus," the old man said.

---

"Don't fight it."

---

"Don't force it."

---

"Release your intent."

---

---

Rahul closed his eyes.

---

He stopped commanding.

Stopped guiding.

---

He simply…

Let go.

---

---

For a moment—

Nothing happened.

---

Then—

Slowly…

---

The energy began to weaken.

---

Its intensity reduced.

---

Its movement slowed.

---

---

And then—

It disappeared.

---

---

Rahul's eyes opened.

---

His hand was empty.

---

No energy.

No glow.

No pressure.

---

---

"…It's gone," Rahul said.

---

The old man nodded.

---

"Yes."

---

---

Rahul looked at his hand.

---

"…I didn't use it."

---

---

The old man smiled faintly.

---

"That's the point."

---

---

---

A long silence followed.

---

Rahul stood still.

Thinking.

---

Understanding something deeper.

---

---

"Again," the old man said.

---

---

This time—

He pointed at the wall.

---

"Attack."

---

---

Rahul raised his hand.

---

Energy gathered again.

---

Stronger.

Faster.

---

---

"Stop."

---

---

Rahul didn't hesitate this time.

---

He closed his eyes—

---

And let it go.

---

---

The energy faded.

---

Faster than before.

---

Cleaner.

---

---

"Good," the old man said.

---

---

Rahul opened his eyes.

---

A small smirk appeared on his face.

---

"I get it now."

---

---

The old man looked at him.

---

"Say it."

---

---

Rahul replied—

---

"Power is not about how much I can use…"

---

A pause.

---

"…but how much I can hold back."

---

---

The old man nodded.

---

"Exactly."

---

---

---

But then—

His expression changed slightly.

---

More serious.

---

---

"This rule…"

---

"…will save your life."

---

---

Rahul's smirk faded.

---

"What do you mean?"

---

---

The old man looked directly into his eyes.

---

"That power inside you…"

---

"…is not endless."

---

---

Rahul frowned.

---

"What?"

---

---

The old man continued—

---

"It grows."

---

"But it also consumes."

---

---

Silence.

---

---

"If you use too much…"

---

"It will take more from you."

---

---

Rahul's eyes sharpened.

---

"…Take what?"

---

---

The old man didn't hesitate.

---

"Your mind."

---

---

A heavy silence fell.

---

---

"Then your body."

---

---

Rahul didn't move.

---

But inside—

Something shifted.

---

---

"And eventually…"

---

The old man's voice became quiet.

---

"…you."

---

---

---

Rahul looked away.

---

For the first time—

There was no arrogance in his expression.

---

---

"…So there's a limit."

---

---

The old man nodded.

---

"Yes."

---

---

Rahul exhaled slowly.

---

"…Good."

---

---

The old man raised an eyebrow slightly.

---

"Good?"

---

---

Rahul looked back at him.

---

A faint, dangerous smile returning.

---

"If there's a limit…"

---

A pause.

---

"…then I just need to break it."

---

---

Silence.

---

---

The old man stared at him.

---

Then—

He smiled.

---

Not in approval.

---

But in understanding.

---

---

"You haven't changed," he said.

---

---

Rahul didn't deny it.

---

---

"But now…" Rahul added quietly,

---

"I know the rules."

---

---

---

Outside—

The wind howled softly.

---

Inside—

A monster was learning discipline.

---

---

And that…

---

Was far more dangerous than chaos.
