Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Change (Part 1)

Lovia's little home was tucked away in the most remote corner of Liyue Harbor, which she jokingly called a Peach Blossom Spring in the middle of the bustling city.

Although it was damp, it was surprisingly comfortable for her original Fontaine Melusine body.

Most importantly, there was no one else here; she could only truly relax when she was in her own home.

Sigh, if she couldn't even relax at home, that would be far too miserable.

For some time now, Lovia had belatedly realized that some of her behavioral habits had undergone a massive change!!

Recalling when she first arrived, Lovia looked at the water droplets seeping from the corners of the walls, and her first thought was: 'Help, how much mold is going to grow here!'

Yet after living there for a week, she only felt it was great!

Despite being near the sea, for some reason, Lovia always felt it wasn't humid enough. She not only got a clay pot specifically to hold water and increase the humidity, but she even taught herself a manual humidifying skill: when she was writing until she felt like she was going bald, she would naturally soak her hands in the water pot to cool down, just like some kind of desktop humanoid humidifier.

Body: Very comfortable!

Soul: What on earth am I doing?!

Lovia's sleeping posture had completely gone off the rails.

At first, she still insisted on maintaining a human sleeping posture: lying flat on her back!

Consequently, every night in the middle of the night, she would find herself curled into a ball without knowing when, her tail having instinctively wrapped up the blanket to turn her into a sushi roll.

Why? Probably because lying flat would press against her little wings... As for now? Now she had simply made a nest! For some reason, her body had become much more sensitive, and she began to especially love soft mattresses. So she bought many, many cushions and piled them high—it couldn't be more comfortable!

Every day when she crawled in, she would let out a satisfied sigh: 'This... this is a case of the flesh triumphing over willpower!'

But all that was fine; what left Lovia with the most complicated feelings was the massive change in her dietary system.

Before transmigrating, she was a hardcore lover of hot pot and milk tea, but now when she saw a lively, jumping shrimp, her first reaction was actually: 'Wow! This color, this vitality—it must be incredibly fresh and sweet if eaten raw!'

Reason: 'No! You need fire! You need cooked food!'

But when she first tried raw shrimp, while her mind was frantically spamming bullet comments like 'I'm eating Sashimi, I'm eating Sashimi,' she was shocked by her body's honest reaction.

The moment the fresh, sweet flavor exploded on the tip of her tongue, she almost performed a 'tough girl shedding tears' routine on the spot.

It was a throb originating from Melusine instinct, a sense of satisfaction where every cell was cheering and leaping for joy.

No sauce or garnish was needed at all; the most primitive and vigorous essence of the seafood itself was a supreme delicacy. The spiciness of hot pot and the cloying sweetness of milk tea instantly became pale and weak before this soul-piercing 'umami.'

Her taste buds had defected.

She still remembered the flavors of the delicacies from her original world, but thinking back now, she actually felt they were just so-so?!

Thus, from then on, Lovia's dietary habits began a grand and irreversible Melusinization.

The purpose of her market trips had completely changed; before, it was to find the freshest ingredients to take home and cook, but now it was to find the 'liviest' ingredients to eat raw.

Even the fishmongers' looks toward her had changed; this pretty girl was always staring at the flopping fish and shrimp with glowing eyes, occasionally asking, 'Is this vigorous enough?' Upon receiving an affirmative answer, she would nod with satisfaction and buy them.

If she really couldn't buy fish to her taste, or if she felt like it on a whim, Lovia would dive into the sea herself to catch them. Every time, she had a bountiful harvest, making her sigh with emotion that she had saved money again today!

She even tried buying a small piece of high-quality Crystal, which was said to be a Fontaine specialty.

Back home, she closed the doors and windows like a thief, swallowed her saliva at the sparkling Ore, and then carefully bit off a small piece with her teeth, which seemed to have become much tougher.

'Crunch.'

The sound was crisp; she actually gnawed on the Ore with incredible ease, and it felt just like munching on potato chips in her mouth.

Lovia was instantly stunned. A 'mouthfeel' that was crunchy yet carried a subtle element resonance spread through her, as if she had eaten a small slice of the starry sky. A sense of pure element energy slowly Swirl, making her feel a bit lightheaded yet exceptionally comfortable... It was over.

She was ruined!

She really thought Shitou was delicious!

As for cooking? She would do it occasionally, but the style was gradually becoming Melusinized.

One day, on a whim, she threw the sea fish she had caught, several unnamed Liyue aquatic plants, and even a few pretty little flowers all into plain water to boil.

She kept the secret of 'boiling until it changes color' in mind, watching as the pot of clear water gradually turned into a strange, fluorescent green-tinted light blue.

She took a deep breath and took a sip with a pilgrim-like solemnity.

Before it entered her mouth, Paimon's classic evaluation instantly rang in her head: 'It tastes so weird!'

But, after tasting it further... a complex flavor that mixed the fragrance of various plants, the texture of meat, and a faint fishy smell hit her taste buds.

Human reason was screaming'Spit it out!', but Melusine instinct was murmuring 'Mmm, so delicious! It's addictive!'.

In the end, Lovia held the pot, frowning while unable to stop herself from drinking it all down gulp after gulp. After finishing, she smacked her lips, savoring the peculiar aftertaste.
