Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Blood Awakening

The creature's eyes locked onto mine like I was its only target.

Not the Alpha King.

Not the warriors surrounding us.

Me.

"You're the one we've been waiting for," it repeated, its voice distorted—like multiple voices speaking at once.

A chill crawled up my spine.

"Who… are you?" I asked, my voice steady despite the storm building inside me.

It smiled wider.

"You'll remember soon enough."

Before anyone could react—it moved.

Fast.

Too fast.

One second it stood at the edge of the shadows… the next it was right in front of me.

But it never touched me.

Because the Alpha King intercepted it.

A loud boom echoed as both forces collided, sending a shockwave through the ground.

"Stay back!" he commanded.

The warriors immediately formed a protective circle around me, but I could barely focus on them.

My eyes were locked on the fight.

The Alpha King moved like a force of nature—every strike precise, powerful, dominant.

Yet…

The creature wasn't losing.

It laughed as it blocked his attack.

"Yes… this is the power of the Alpha King," it hissed. "But even you… cannot stop what's coming."

More of them emerged from the darkness.

Dozens.

No—

Hundreds.

Their glowing eyes lit up the night like a nightmare.

The warriors shifted instantly, bones cracking, fur bursting out as wolves took over. Growls and snarls filled the air as they charged into battle.

Chaos exploded.

Claws.

Blood.

Screams.

And me?

I stood frozen.

Not out of fear.

But because something inside me was screaming to be released.

My chest tightened.

My veins burned.

My wolf.

She was restless.

"Let me out."

"I don't know how!" I whispered desperately.

"You do."

"I don't—!"

A creature lunged at me.

Time slowed.

I saw its claws coming straight for my chest.

I should have died in that moment.

I should have been too slow.

Too weak.

Too human.

But instead—

Something snapped.

A surge of power exploded from within me.

My vision sharpened.

My body moved on instinct.

I caught its wrist mid-air.

The force of it shocked both of us.

The creature's eyes widened.

"…Impossible."

I didn't think.

I reacted.

With a strength I didn't know I had—I twisted its arm and threw it across the battlefield.

It crashed into the ground with a sickening crack.

Dead.

Silence hit my ears for a split second.

Then—

Everything came rushing back.

The fight.

The noise.

The blood.

And my heartbeat—loud, wild, uncontrollable.

The Alpha King turned sharply toward me, his eyes blazing.

He saw it.

He felt it.

"What are you waiting for?" he shouted.

"Claim your power!"

Another creature charged at me.

Then another.

And another.

This time—

I didn't hesitate.

Pain ripped through my body.

I screamed as I dropped to my knees.

Bones cracked.

Skin burned.

My senses exploded.

Every nerve in my body felt like it was on fire.

"It hurts!" I cried out.

But beneath the pain—

There was something else.

Freedom.

"Stop fighting me," my wolf said.

"Become me."

I gasped.

And then—

I let go.

The pain didn't stop.

But it changed.

It became something powerful.

Something unstoppable.

A blinding light burst from my body.

The ground beneath me cracked.

Energy surged outward, forcing everyone—wolves and creatures alike—to step back.

Even the Alpha King paused.

And then—

It happened.

I shifted.

But not into what they expected.

Gasps filled the battlefield.

"No way…" "That's not possible…" "What kind of wolf is that?!"

I stood tall—stronger, bigger, faster.

My fur shimmered under the moonlight…

Not brown.

Not black.

Not white.

But silver… mixed with streaks of glowing gold.

My eyes burned like fire.

Ancient.

Powerful.

Terrifying.

The creatures froze.

For the first time—

They looked afraid.

The one who spoke earlier stepped back slowly.

"…So it's true," it whispered.

"The lost bloodline… has returned."

My wolf stepped forward.

Dominant.

Fearless.

And when I spoke—

My voice wasn't just mine anymore.

"Leave," I said.

But it wasn't a request.

It was a command.

The air itself seemed to obey me.

The weaker creatures began to retreat instinctively.

But their leader didn't move.

Instead… it smiled again.

"Interesting," it said. "Very interesting."

The Alpha King moved to my side, his massive wolf form radiating power.

Together—we stood as equals.

King…

And something else entirely.

"This isn't over," the creature said, its form beginning to dissolve into shadows.

"We will come back for you."

Its eyes locked onto mine one last time.

"Because you don't even know what you are yet."

And then—

They were gone.

Silence fell over the battlefield.

Only the sound of heavy breathing and distant groans remained.

The warriors slowly returned to human form, staring at me like I was no longer one of them.

Like I was something… more.

Or something dangerous.

I shifted back, my body trembling slightly.

The Alpha King walked toward me, his gaze intense, unreadable.

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Then—

He reached out and touched my cheek gently.

"You've just changed everything," he said.

My heart pounded.

"What… am I?" I asked again.

This time—

He didn't hesitate.

"You're not just a wolf," he said.

"You're the last of the Royal Bloodline."

My breath caught.

"Royal…?"

He nodded slowly.

"The kind of power… that can either unite all packs…"

A pause.

His eyes darkened.

"Or destroy them."

And suddenly—

I understood why those creatures came for me.

Because this wasn't just about survival anymore.

It was about destiny.
