Chapter 45 - Teaching These Beasts a Lesson

Over two hundred Wind Wolves completely blocked the valley entrance.

Their eerie green eyes, in the dim valley, resembled countless flickering ghost fires, radiating heart-stopping coldness.

The air seemed to solidify.

Only the low growls emanating from the Wind Wolves' throats and the slightly heavy breathing of the Female Warriors could be heard.

Even the elites who had undergone hellish training couldn't help but show signs of nervousness when facing such a massive horde of fierce beasts.

These Female Warriors were all excellent hunters in their respective pasts.

But when had they ever seen a formation like this?

In past hunts, running into a pack of a dozen or so Wind Wolves was already a major problem requiring careful handling.

Now, there were over two hundred!

The sheer numerical superiority cast an invisible pressure over everyone's heart.

The Female Warriors' faces turned pale, and their hands gripping the spears began to sweat from nervousness.

"What are you afraid of! Hold steady!"

Akomann's voice exploded within the ranks.

This fierce shout, like a clap of thunder, dispersed the cloud of fear hanging over everyone's hearts.

"You are the Black Rock Army!"

"Remember this: you are the finest warriors, invincible in battle!"

Her voice quickly caused the previously somewhat panicked warriors to calm down swiftly.

"Everyone, remember how you trained every day!"

Akomann's voice, like a great bell, struck the heart of every warrior.

"Shield Bearers, lower your center of gravity! Nail your feet to the ground!"

Her stern shout instantly stabilized the formation, which had been slightly agitated.

The Female Warriors gritted their teeth, tightened their grip on their tower shields, and drove the bottom edges of the shields deep into the soil.

Wu Liang, standing in the rear, watched this scene with satisfaction.

Good. Feeling pressure is normal. The key is maintaining discipline under pressure—that's when an army is truly trained.

"Wu Liang, can we really do this? There are too many Wind Wolves."

Wei Xian stood beside Wu Liang, her hand unconsciously resting on her bulging belly, her eyes filled with worry.

Although she was also a battle-hardened warrior, the scene before her made her scalp tingle.

Eliza, standing nearby, also gasped, noting that normally it took at least five or six warriors just to barely subdue one Wind Wolf.

"Just watch, don't worry."

Wu Liang's tone was calm, as if the two hundred fierce wolves before him were merely a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

"After today, you will know the difference between the army of our Black Rock Tribe and the rabble of those other Tribes."

In the valley, the pack of Wind Wolves was extremely patient, waiting and searching for a flaw in the formation.

A Wind Wolf with an exceptionally sturdy build and darker fur was clearly the Alpha Wolf of the pack.

It paced back and forth in front of the formation, its cunning eyes fixed on the impenetrable shield wall.

Finally, it seemed to lose patience.

"Awooo!"

A high-pitched howl echoed throughout the valley!

"Roar!"

All the Wind Wolves moved instantly!

Like a gray tide, they charged fiercely toward the Black Rock Army's square formation from all directions!

"Hold steady!"

Akomann shouted fiercely, her spear held firmly pointing forward.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The sound of the running wolves was like rapid drumming; the ground trembled slightly.

The Female Warriors in the front row could clearly see the Wind Wolves' ferocious fangs and bloodthirsty eyes through the gaps in their shields.

Fear seized their hearts in an instant.

But the cruel training of the past days had etched the instinct to obey orders into their bones.

No one retreated, and no one screamed.

They simply held the shields tightly, placing all their hope in the heavy tower shields in front of them and the spears of their comrades behind them.

Closer!

Even closer!

The first wave of Wind Wolves slammed violently into the shield wall!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

A series of dull crashes sounded like battering rams hitting a city gate.

The massive impact caused the entire shield wall to shake.

Several Female Warriors in the front row let out a muffled groan.

The immense force knocked their bodies back momentarily, but they immediately gritted their teeth and pushed back.

The interlocking slots on the sides of all the shields connected tightly, forming the fifty tower shields into an unbreakable unit.

The Wind Wolves' charge was forcibly halted!

"Thrust!"

This was the moment Akomann had been waiting for!

The instant her command was given, the Long-spear bearers in the second row, who were already prepared, thrust their spears like lightning through the gaps in the shields!

"Puch! Puch!"

The sharp triangular spearheads effortlessly pierced the Wind Wolves' soft bellies and necks.

Blood instantly gushed out!

"Awooo!"

Pitiful howls rose and fell continuously.

The dozens of Wind Wolves charging at the front didn't even get a clear look at the Black Rock Army warriors before they were skewered into bleeding sieves by the dense forest of spears.

These Wind Wolves wailed and struggled, quickly collapsing before the shield wall, their warm blood staining the ground red.

The Wind Wolves behind them stumbled over the corpses of their comrades, and the attack began to descend into chaos.

"Retract spears!"

"Thrust!"

Akomann's commands were brief and highly effective.

The Long-spear bearers mechanically repeated the action of retracting and thrusting.

Every thrust inevitably took the life of one or several Wind Wolves.

In front of the shield wall, a wall of flesh and blood composed of Wind Wolf corpses quickly piled up.

This bloody and efficient scene of slaughter left Wei Xian and Eliza, who were on the watchtower, completely stunned.

"This... they blocked it just like that?"

Wei Xian murmured to herself, hardly believing her own eyes.

In her past understanding, when facing a wolf pack charge of this scale, the Tribe warriors relied on individual bravery and experience, fighting separately.

The battle scene would inevitably be chaotic, and casualties would certainly be high.

But now?

The Black Rock Army warriors didn't even engage in direct close combat with the Wind Wolves.

They merely hid behind the shields, calmly thrusting their spears out, time after time.

Just like a group of emotionless butchers slaughtering livestock on an assembly line.

"This is the power of discipline and equipment."

Wu Liang said lightly, though his eyes shone with excitement.

This was precisely the effect he wanted!

Achieve maximum casualties at minimum cost!

In the valley, the Alpha Wolf clearly realized something was wrong.

It let out a series of anxious snarls, commanding the pack to stop the frontal assault.

These beasts were smart; they began trying to flank the formation.

"Trying to go around the back?"

Wu Liang sneered.

"Akomann!"

"Present!"

Akomann immediately responded.

"Have our Crossbowmen teach these beasts a lesson."

"Yes!"

Akomann swung her spear, pointing toward the wolves harassing the flanks.

"Crossbowmen forward, prepare for Three-stage volleys!"
