Chapter 122 - Goblin Night Raid

Wu Liang raised an eyebrow.

In games and novels of his previous life, Goblins were usually synonymous with evil, greed, and cowardice.

This was the first time he had seen one alive.

"They certainly are ugly."

Wu Liang clicked his tongue.

Sa Lan nodded.

"They are indeed Goblins."

"My men discovered it while scouting downstream; it was sneakily spying on our camp."

"There's more than one. There must be a small Goblin Tribe nearby."

Wu Liang walked up to the Goblin and looked down at it.

The Goblin trembled all over, terrified by the powerful aura emanating from Wu Liang, and let out strange 'ji li gua la' cries, seemingly begging for mercy.

"Can you speak the human language?"

"If you can't, don't bother. Sa Lan, take it out and execute it."

Wu Liang asked coldly.

The Goblin froze for a moment, then nodded desperately.

It spoke using a very clumsy, strangely accented Continental Common Tongue:

"H-human... Your Excellency... spare me... I... I will tell you everything..."

"Where is your nest? How many of your kind are there?"

Wu Liang asked.

The Goblin's eyes darted around, seemingly calculating something.

Wu Liang didn't bother with further nonsense and immediately stomped on its shin.

With a crisp crack, the Goblin's leg was instantly broken.

"Ah—!"

A mournful scream echoed throughout the tent.

There was no need for any psychological burden when dealing with such inferior creatures.

"I'll ask again: Where is the nest? How many of your kind are there?"

Wu Liang's voice was devoid of emotion.

The intense pain caused the Goblin to completely break down, and it screamed hysterically, tears and snot flowing:

"I'll talk! I'll talk! The nest is... it's in a cave upstream!"

"We have... over three hundred clansmen! Please spare me, Your Excellency!"

"Besides you, are there any other sentient beings nearby? Like Beastmen?"

Wu Liang continued to ask.

"Beastmen? Yes! Yes!"

To save its life, the Goblin spilled everything like pouring beans from a bamboo tube.

"If you go east, that is the territory of the Catfolk!"

"Further south is the territory of the Fox Clan and the Dog Clan..."

Having obtained the information he wanted, Wu Liang waved his hand at the two scouts.

"Drag it out and dispose of it."

"Yes, sir!"

Hearing this, the Goblin was scared out of its wits and struggled frantically:

"No! You promised to spare my life! You can't..."

Before it could finish speaking, it was kicked unconscious and dragged away.

Wu Liang looked at Sa Lan and said:

"Go personally and lead men to confirm the location of that cave."

"Akomann, Ignis, have everyone heighten their vigilance. We might have guests tonight."

"Understood!"

The two responded in unison.

As the night deepened, the cries of various unknown creatures echoed in the rainforest.

The campfires crackled, and most of the soldiers had already fallen asleep.

Only the patrolling sentries were still vigilantly watching the dark jungle.

Wu Liang was not sleeping. He sat in his tent, cleaning a black rock type 1 rifle.

He knew that these cunning Goblins would definitely not give up easily.

The mere fact that they dared to spy meant they were plotting against this large force.

For such greedy and untrustworthy inferior creatures, the best approach was to hit them hard once, make them afraid, and ensure they never dared to scheme again.

This was also the best opportunity to test the mettle of the Rifle Battalion.

Time passed minute by minute. At midnight, all was silent.

Just then, a horn suddenly sounded from the jungle outside the camp perimeter!

Immediately afterward, a sentry on alert duty shouted loudly.

"Enemy attack—!"

"It's Goblins! So many Goblins!"

Before the sentry finished speaking, countless pairs of green eyes lit up in the dark forest.

Accompanied by strange 'ji li gua la' cries, dense green figures surged like a tide, rushing toward the camp from all directions!

"Enemy attack!"

Alarm bells and horns tore through the night sky, and the entire camp instantly went on high alert.

Soldiers who were asleep immediately woke up and entered combat readiness.

"Don't panic! All units immediately move to battle positions!"

Akomann's sharp voice drowned out all the noise.

Clad in Black Armor, she rushed out of the tent immediately, her Black Spear already gripped tightly in her hand.

Ignis followed closely. Her fiery red figure shimmered in the dancing firelight, and the long saber in her hand flashed with cold light.

In the darkness, the wave of Goblins quickly reached the simple fence outside the camp perimeter.

They were short in stature but exceptionally agile.

Wielding rusty short knives and crude wooden clubs, they emitted ear-piercing shrieks and climbed upward fearlessly.

"Rifle Battalion! Free fire!"

A company commander of the Rifle Battalion loudly gave the order.

The Rifle Battalion soldiers, who had been lying in wait for the fish to bite, raised their rifles.

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"

A series of crisp, dense gunshots suddenly rang out in the rainforest night sky!

The Goblins climbing the fence didn't even realize what was happening before they were riddled with bullets, screaming repeatedly.

They fell in swathes from the fence, like wheat being cut down by a sickle.

Gunfire flashed in the darkness, resembling bursts of fireworks.

Gunsmoke spread, mixing with the strong smell of blood, stimulating everyone's nerves.

The Goblins charging at the front were instantly stunned.

They had never seen such strange weapons. They only heard thunderous explosions, and then their comrades next to them would collapse screaming, a burst of blood blossoming on their chests.

This weapon, capable of accurately killing enemies from a hundred meters away, was completely outside their scope of understanding.

"Continue firing! Open fire!"

The officers of the Rifle Battalion calmly directed the troops.

Following the drill manual, the soldiers systematically cycled through shooting, ejecting the casing, reloading, and shooting again.

The high rate of fire provided by the Bolt-Action Mechanism was fully displayed at this moment.

The dense hail of bullets formed a net of death, turning the area in front of the camp into a slaughterhouse.

The momentum of the Goblin charge was forcefully halted.

However, the sheer number of Goblins was overwhelming.

Driven by the Goblin Shaman and leaders overseeing the battle in the rear, they trampled over the corpses of their comrades and continued their frantic assault on the camp.

Some Goblins even climbed the surrounding large trees, attempting to attack the soldiers inside the camp with bows and arrows and thrown stones from above.

"Black Rock Army! Ember Assault Team! Protect the flanks! Push them back!"

Akomann roared.

Taking the lead, she wielded her spear like a black bolt of lightning, charging into the Goblin horde surging from the flanks.

Her tall figure moved through the short Goblin crowd like a tiger among sheep.

Every swing of her spear brought forth a rain of blood, scattering severed limbs and remains everywhere.

Ignis also led her Ember Assault Team, plunging into the enemy formation like a blazing fire.

The long saber in her hand flashed continuously, wielded so tightly that no air could pass through, and wherever the blade light reached, Goblins fell dead.

Just then, Wu Liang stepped out of his tent.

He was not wearing armor, only a set of ordinary casual clothes.

He looked at the chaotic and bloody battlefield before him, his face expressionless.

He quickly focused on a Goblin Shaman at the rear of the Goblin army, sitting atop a massive Direwolf, holding a bone staff, and shouting 'ji li gua la' cries.

To catch the bandits, first catch their leader.
