Cherreads

Chapter 10 - The World.

The heat was intense, around 45 degrees, and the barren plains stretched as far as the eye could see, dotted with scattered trees.

The soil was red, and there seemed to be no sign of life.

But…

"Run, everyone, run."

"There are way too many of them, we didn't expect a whole group."

"We have no way to fight them. We'd better fall back and defend ourselves until we can escape."

"It's a good thing it's midday, otherwise, they would've caught up to us before we could even react."

The four people ran very fast until they reached an armored four-wheel-drive vehicle parked under a large tree.

Despite the harsh environment, the tree was alive, its roots reached deep into the earth.

The first person got into the armored vehicle, followed by the rest. As soon as everyone was inside, he turned the key and sped off at full speed.

When they looked back, a large group of ferocious red kangaroos was chasing them, about a hundred of them.

What set them apart was their leader... A massive red kangaroo with powerful muscles and huge fangs… a true beast. Every leap he made left a footprint on the ground, with another appearing several meters away.

They were lucky to have escaped.

"Man, if it weren't for our abilities, we'd be dead for sure. It's a predator level beast." A man with dark brown skin smiled as he pointed at the kangaroo in the distance.

"You're right, Thomas, but it was funny, if it weren't for Brital, we'd be dead. His detection skills are amazing." A man with blue eyes and a sharp jaw spoke, he was powerfully built.

"Man, Australia is scary. It's a good thing we didn't go to the spider zone." A man with a frail build spoke, his brown eyes were sharp.

"Hahaha, you're right. It would have killed us if we'd gone there. Unfortunately, Australia is always like this, it's like a land of horror." The dark skinned man spoke, his name was Thomas.

The eighth and smallest continent, Madagascar.

A group of men stood in front of a massive tree, about forty meters tall and nearly fifteen meters wide.

With its unique appearance, as if its roots were at the top, everyone standing in front of this tree felt insignificant.

A giant living being, its trunk resembled a massive water reservoir.

This tree was a natural reservoir, which is why it had lived for thousands of years, and the locals considered it a sacred tree.

But now it was being cut down. It took three days, a lot of modern machinery, and many lumberjacks and engineers to cut it down.

It had to be cut down this way, otherwise, it would ruin the plans of the person who ordered its felling.

Thuuuuud.

The sound of the fall was terrifying, the ground shook, and the hearts of humans and animals trembled.

Today, one of the guardians of this forest had died: the Grandider Baobab Tree.

Everyone stared in amazement at this breathtaking scene, a giant of thousands of years had fallen at the hands of humans.

The men approached slowly and looked inside the tree, it wasn't the sight they had expected, where sponge like fibers would be at the center.

It was something else entirely, a giant dinosaur, curled up like a fetus.

It was none other than a Spinosaurus.

A man with long hair, standing at a distance and gazing at the tree, smiled.

"Finally." he said in a deep voice.

This archipelago was once known as Japan, but now it was just an archipelago of thousands of islands.

The indigenous people no longer lived here, many had emigrated, and all that remained were old, dilapidated buildings covered in moss and creeping vines.

This place was now deserted.

The current island was called Honshu.

The current location: Mount Fuji.

There was a man at the crater of the dormant volcano.

This mountain was a giant, over 3,500 meters tall, resembling a cone, and at its base lay five lakes that could be seen from the summit.

The man gazed calmly at the crater, his black hair fluttered in the cold wind.

His gaze was cold, he did not speak but continued to look as if searching for something.

He moved closer, then leaped into the crater.

A river of blood was flowing rapidly, the central river had turned entirely to blood.

The corpses of monsters lay scattered everywhere, there were no people here.

But there was only one person present.

A man with a strong, muscular build, short white hair, and thick eyebrows, who appeared to be in his forties.

His eyes were black as the abyss, the man looked calmly at the monsters before him.

Hundreds of monsters had fallen to the ground because of him, yet there were no visible wounds on him, only his clothes were covered in thick blood.

"What a sight, they think they can stop me with this." the man spoke in a cold voice.

The intent to kill him permeated the entire surrounding area, there was no trace of life left except for him.

The sound of the river was the only sound in the area.

The man approached a massive monster, then sliced through its spine, extracting a line that had been embedded in its spinal cord.

The line was like a hair, thin yet strong.

That thin line quickly vanished from his hand.

Then the man looked at the information before him, the number of lines had increased.

[Number of lines: 10,056,479.]

"I think I'm close."

Then the man vanished from where he was standing.

The frozen Arctic Ocean, the North Pole.

The ice was covered in blood, blood was everywhere.

The corpses were human, bears were approaching them but did not get close.

Amid these corpses were footsteps, human footsteps.

The footsteps continued endlessly until they entered a blizzard.

The snow had no effect on the person walking, he kept going, neither the wind nor the snow could make him stop.

He exuded an aura of steadfastness and strength, as if no one could stop him.

The person continued until he passed through the blizzard, then reached a giant cave.

As soon as the person approached the cave, he heard a scream.

"Aaaah, no, don't come near me, you monster."

A woman with bloodshot eyes and disheveled hair screamed, she wore nothing but what covered her private parts in this bitter cold.

The person looked at her with pity and then approached.

But she didn't stop screaming.

"No, no, go away, go away."

"Please go away."

She screamed as loud as she could, then began to beg and cry.

She dropped to her knees, weeping and begging the person to go away.

But he came closer.

Then he knelt down as well, bringing his face close to hers, his eyes met hers.

He looked deeply into her eyes as she cried.

Then he embraced her with all his strength, he didn't let her go despite her screams.

The woman kept screaming until she lost consciousness.

The man looked at her with steady, confident eyes, but there was a sadness hidden within those eyes.

"I promise you, I will heal you. There isn't much left."

Antarctica, the Southern Continent.

In one of the scientists' tents sat a young man who looked to be in his early twenties.

He was reviewing his data and findings with obvious delight written all over his face.

"Jazz, you didn't expect this, did you? Hehehe."
