"Uh, guys? The corridor is ending."
Nomari was right. About twenty feet ahead, the passage opened into another chamber. This one was different from the first. I could see orange light dancing across the walls, and the heat radiating from the opening made my skin prickle with sweat.
Not ominous at all. Just your standard glowing mystery room that definitely doesn't scream "boss fight incoming."
"Everyone ready?" I asked, forcing my voice to stay steady.
"Ready as we'll ever be," Roran said, moving to the front of our formation. "I'll take point with barriers. Kiela, stay close to me. Nomari, middle position. Commoner—"
"My name is—"
"I know your name," Roran said with a grin. "But Kiela's nickname is growing on me. You're rear guard. Watch our backs and call out strategy."
"Fine," I said. "But when this is over, we're having a conversation about respect."
"When this is over, you can call me whatever you want," Roran said. "Now let's move."
