Gamer jettisoned towards the 8-bit alien spaceship. Its attacks on the secondary characters' village under lit the danger of the situation. When Gamer drew near, he circled the ship. It continued drifting, and didn't seem to be bothered by his presence. His inspection yielded no doors or windows for him to bust into. The 'eyes' were metal plates. The 'mouth' where the beams came out of was some sort of channeling prong that gathered energy, and didn't actually lead anywhere. As far as Gamer could tell, it was impenetrable.
"Samira, can you scan it for weaknesses?" Gamer asked.
"No luck, bro. It's all one unit. It doesn't have any cracks or crevices," Samira informed.
"Then I'll have to make my own!"
Gamer made a valiant series of attacks and counterstrikes. He weaved like a bat out of Hell, stung like a yellow jacket, and performed deadly loops like a god of war.
Down below, a few shroomans watched Gamer buzz around. It was less grandiose than he thought, because it looked more like a fly dinking against a window. Full of spirit, but in the end, it was no contest. A shrooman commented, "Oh my, this looks super troublesome, if I do say so myself."
Another shrooman nodded, "I've already been blown away twice now. Woe is the life of a shrooman."
"Oop, here comes another one of those super beams. This will be my first one."
"Hahah, I remember my first time! See you around, buddy."
The slow-ass beam exploded across the village and sent the invulnerable shroomans flying, each of them letting out an ear-wrecking squeal. The babas covered their eyes and went invisible. Shellies and chumps gathered up the sniffers and potentas away from danger. Lackatoes hovered around, safe in the sky. The mollies dipped beneath, safe under the surface.
Minnie zipped through the buildings and protected herself from any blasts with her blue shell. It endured, and thanks to her slide speed, she reached many denizens.
What set them back were the shroomans' itty bitty stumpy legs. They waddled in their run, and barely got anywhere. The mushroom people greatly outnumbered the yosauri and Lord Shellie's forces. Minnie had to act and think fast, or else they'd constantly be flung in all directions.
Minnie entered a dash, lined up numbers of shroomans along the main street, tucked into her shell, and sped forward through the bunch. Her line attack juggled all of the hapless mushroom boys into the air. She popped out of her main shell with her boxing shell equipped.
"Shell Shock!" Minnie fired her Super at the airborne shroomans. The second line attack catapulted all the juggled villagers towards the castle. Just in time to avoid a devastating alien beam. The majority of the shroomans were saved.
"Yay!" Minnie celebrated with raised hands and jumps.
A mushroom building tore up from its foundation and scattered across the main street, but not by force of an alien beam. Instead, the cause came from Asterion flying through it. He tumbled along the ground towards Minnie. She gasped and held her arms open, "I gotcha, Asterion!"
Asterion rammed into her and flew backwards with little stopping power. When they skidded to a halt, Minnie took in his condition. Bruises decorated Asterion, but he appeared unfazed, "Thanks, Minnie."
Dimitri stepped through the wreckage of the village, shaded by the destructive explosions happening around them. He displayed scuffs and bruises from the fight, too.
Minnie stood by Asterion as his defense. He propped himself up and returned to a fighting stance. They were ready for round 2.
"Please, log out," Dimitri wouldn't go for the kill while permadeath was enabled.
"You first," Asterion watched an alien explosion in the corner of his eye.
Dimitri lowered his fists and abandoned the fight, "If it gets you out of Chanterelle, I will. It aligns with the council's wish for me to disrupt Gamer's group, and it prevents you from..."
Part of Chanterelle buckled when the ground clipped into itself and bugged out. A giant chunk of stone blasted up like a flattening sheet. It fell towards Dimitri.
"Look out!" Asterion shunted forward. Father and son worked together with mighty attacks. Their combined strength shattered the tectonic wave. Bits and pieces rained around them, and Minnie clapped in admiration.
"That was close. Thanks," Dimitri swallowed his pride.
"Permadeath really pulls a family together," Asterion quipped.
"I don't understand how you can be so lighthearted at a time like this."
"Are we fightin', or are we kissin'?" Minnie approached. She'd switched over to her Lil Min persona. Since she only had one boxing shell, she held her hammer in the other hand.
"Isn't it obvious?" Asterion asked, gesturing to how adorable Minnie was.
A pair of jeans fell from the sky and slapped Dimitri in the face. Frustrated and confused, he angrily tossed them to the ground. The battle group looked up to see where they came from.
Gamer, surfed up on his broom, hung ten while baring ass. He said the magic words, "Anubis, cum to me!"
Anubis appeared forth from Gamer's glorious balls. The Egyptian god lunged a hand forward and unleashed a powerful blast against the alien ship. It crinkled the ship like a paper airplane. It dropped down, hit a few of its own laser beams, exploded some more, and slammed into the middle of the village. The weight itself cracked the ground and crumbled downwards into a massive sinkhole. The ship plunged into the mining depths below, along with village debris.
"He did it!" Minnie cheered.
Dimitri couldn't believe his eyes. Asterion took this moment to answer him, "It's not who Gamer is, or who his enemies are. I picked his side because it's honorable what he's fighting for."
Dimitri listened, "And that is?"
"Family."
Gamer front flipped, summoned his pants back on, and landed on his broomstick. Anubis faded, but when he did, the clouds above darkened in a polka dotted pattern. The dark silhouettes lowered out of the clouds and revealed dozens upon dozens of similar alien spaceships.
"Mama mia..." Gamer gawked.
The spaceships all fired their slow energy beams. Even with a gradual fire rate, the amount bombarded the landscape with extreme devastation.
"This is the end!" Dimitri warned. Everyone's eyes twinkled like a nebula with the amount of descending beams. Gamer glared down, and flipped him the bird. Dimitri sighed, and said before logging out, "Just give up."
Asterion lingered by his son's absent spot. The rush of guilt stammered his mind and rocked his emotions. It was Minnie's scream that snapped him out of it, "Gamer! Watch out!"
Samira popped in with 👆👆 at the same time, and Gamer barely registered one of the beams inches above his head. He bailed sideways and abandoned his flying broom. The beam incinerated the magic item instantly. Gamer plummeted.
"Samira! Grant me God Mode!"
"I can't!!"
"Debug menu!"
"I can't!!! (ó﹏ò。)"
"An invincibility cheat code!"
"I...oh wait, I can," Samira ( ˶°ㅁ°)!! It was good news, but it came with a caveat, "But I'll have to transform you into a shrooman."
Gamer calmed down and adopted a thousand-yard stare, "...let me die."
"Brother!" Samira scolded.
A bundle of balloons snatched Gamer out of the air. They were white, slightly see-through, and cackled like evil chipmunks. It was a billiard of babas, and in the center, was Queen Yaga. She and hers saved Gamer. She held him like a damsel in distress. While descending, Yaga sang with operatic fervor.
"At last, the star arrives! Is everybody ready for a good time? I bet you're thrilled to see..." Yaga checked on Gamer. His entire body turned pale, he dried up like a raisin, and X's replaced his pupils. Yaga and her babas yelped, "We killed him!"
Bedlam enraptured the village. All the buildings were blown away by the alien invaders. Asterion and Minnie were running out of places to flee to. Even Persica's Castle 2 started to crumble. The land shook violently beneath their feet. Some textures were replaced by other textures from elsewhere in the game, and some objects were angled wrong or sized differently. Chunks of the game disappeared and opened up gaping chasms. Due to the sudden deletion, everything below took some time to load in, or failed to load entirely.
Samanthus's spaceship sped past a couple beams. It leveled out and lowered a platform for Asterion and Minnie. They clamored on and over to the central platform. Minnie went down first, while Asterion waved Yaga over. She dropped Gamer in safe hands, and Asterion said, "Thanks for the save. Now find somewhere safe to hide."
"Of course! We ghosts know exactly what to do!" Yaga and her billiard jettisoned downwards. They phased into the ground.
Asterion wasn't sure how well that would work, considering the apocalypse. The bull man took one final glance about Chanterelle. The alien ships were everywhere. Miles away, the blocky landscape broke apart and faded to nothingness. The land glitched and jacked up the skybox.
"Mortimer, what have you done?" Asterion bowed out and stepped onto the platform. He entered Samanthus's spaceship.
