Chapter 73 - Chapter 75: Lives Without Kai

The city kept moving.

Cars passed. People laughed. Schools opened and closed like nothing had changed.

But for Axel, Zara, and Leo—everything had.

Axel stood alone on a rooftop.

The same rooftop they used to patrol together.

The wind hit his face as he stared out at the city, fists clenched. Nights were the worst. That's when everything reminded him of Kai—the jumps, the fights, the moments where they almost didn't make it.

Now… it was just him.

He had tried going out a few times. Tried being a hero alone.

It didn't feel right.

Not without Kai leading.

Not without that energy.

Axel punched the wall lightly in frustration. "You idiot…" he muttered. "Why'd you have to go that far?"

But deep down—

He knew why.

And that made it worse.

Leo sat in his room, surrounded by screens, wires, and scattered notes.

The Dragon files were open. Government reports. News clips. Everything he could find.

He hadn't stopped working since Kai was taken.

Not for long, anyway.

"If they think this ends here… they're wrong," Leo whispered, typing faster.

On one screen, Kai's prison record flashed.

On another, encrypted data about the Dragon organization.

Leo adjusted his glasses, eyes sharp.

"They're hiding something," he said. "And I'm going to find it."

He paused for a second, staring at Kai's file.

"…Just hold on," he added quietly.

Zara sat in her room.

Lights off.

Phone in her hand.

Kai's name still trending.

She stared at the screen, her expression unreadable.

Then she turned it off.

Silence filled the room.

For once… she had nothing to say.

No jokes.

No mocking.

Just thoughts.

She remembered that day in class.

His voice.

"When you've been having bad times… we were always there for you…"

Her chest tightened.

"I messed up…" she whispered.

She stood up slowly and walked to her mirror, staring at her reflection.

"You always push people away," she said to herself. "And when they leave… you act like you don't care."

A tear slipped down her cheek.

"But this time… it's different."

She wiped her face quickly, trying to regain control.

"I'm going to fix this," she said, more firmly now.

Even if she didn't know how yet.

Three different places.

Three different lives.

All connected by one person.

Kai.

And even though he was gone—

None of them had truly moved on.

Because deep down…

They all knew—

This story wasn't over.

Not even close.
