You know, when Rimuru and I lead the attack on the direwolves, they seemed so menacing. Yet, now that we have subjugated them, they seemed more like oversized puppies than the predators they should have been. Especially my new direwolf, well an evolution of one, Fenrir. He was a big blue puffball that seemed so soft that I was just tempted to lay on his back all day and never come down. Of course, Diablo and Ddraig would never allow that, on the count of training and the fact that somehow I was determined as a second leader of the goblin village. How did that happen? I have no idea but I guess monster politics is a lot more simple than human politics.
"So, why are we gathered here?" I asked Rimuru as I was petting my now downsized Fenrir. "Master, can you please not tub my fur so much, your gonna tangle it" growled Fenrir as I continued to pet him. "Sorry" I said as I completed my cycle of petting and released him from my hand. "Thank you. Licking tangles out of my fur is not fun" he said exasperated as he laid down on the deck of this new stage which seemed to creek with all of us on here. "Perhaps Fenrir should stand off stage? It seems like the stage is barely holding weight" spoke Ddraig as he floated in the air.
"Don't worry, I can perform an enhancement for the stage" I replied. "Well, you should do that now and not after it breaks" grumbled Ddraig. I quickly cast an enhancement and moved on. "Well, they are all gathered so we can lay down the law so to speak, and to get our new situation sorted out" said Rimuru, his viscous body turning in my direction. "Oh, and how did you figure out a code of law in just a few hours?" I asked him as he stared blankly at me. "I get it, it was sprung on you. So, lay down a few basics and I will help improve where I can" I told him and he nodded in agreement.
So I sat and watched as he declared that the direwolves and the goblins will essentially live in pairs. I was wondering how that would work but it seems there was no disagreement on either side. Might makes right is a law of this world, so adapt or die I suppose. He then decided that giving them all names was easy, and apparently missed the shocked and excited faces and emotions that sprung from the tribe like lakes in Ireland. "Are you sure that's a good idea Rimuru, I mean look at their faces" I said to Rimuru, trying to get him to gauge the shock on the faces of his people indicating that naming was a big deal. "Yeah, I can see their excited, but it's just a name is it not?" asked Rimuru, and I just decided that he will learn trial by fire, and I will explain it to him later.
He then began to rattle of names, like Rigurd to the chief, and bestowing the name Rigur on a bandana wearing goblin in honor of his fallen brother. He named many more goblins, and when he ran out of creativity for the names, began using Gob as a prefix and attaching syllables to it. When he named the tribe leader of the direwolves, the son of the previous alpha, Rang, he quickly melted into less stable goo and seemed to black out. "Well, hopefully he learns his lesson after this" I said outloud as I scooped him up and asked the newly named Haruna to take him somewhere safe for now while he recovers.
"So, now that we are down a leader for a bit, lets set the goals we need accomplished. First, we need food and shelter, 2.You are gonna need new clothes due to changes through your name, and number three is we need to get some valuable trade masters to teach you guys skills like architecture and blacksmithing. I could grant you this knowledge, but having the actual teachings engraved through practice will help you digest any future knowledge I give you" I said to them as they nodded vigorously.
Realistically, I could just implant the knowledge in their brain, but that would increase the dependancy on me and Rimuru if we just give them things. Necessities I don't mind helping, but they should still learn the skills as well. What if I or Rimuru needed or wanted to leave for a bit? They need to be able to survive without us just in case. After getting various priorities in place at the moment, I decided I wanted to upgrade Fenrir.
Fenrir in myth had ties to the end of the world, embodying chaos and destruction. Some say his children ate the sun, others says it was him. Fenrir in popular culture, particularly in some shows has ties to wind and ice. Thus he would be chaos, destruction, sun, and storm. So I think granting him these divine powers in the form of a unique skill could be a good idea. So I pulled from the knowledge of my ability, and selected the concepts I needed and summoned them together as a unique skill to bless Fenrir with.
[Note, Fenrir the direwolf has gained the unique skill [Apocalypse]. The following skills are bestowed: [Disruption], [Killing roar], [Sun Eater], [Storm production]. ]
With that, it seemed my Fenrir has collapsed, and is now receiving an evolution.
A/N: Hey guys, hope you enjoyed the chapter. For some of the things I put in this chapter, most of it was off the top of my head and some barebones research for the concept I had in my head. Like the unique skill [Apocalypse]. I wanted to create a more ice focused character, but decided that this direction was more fun and maybe a little more different than just the classic Fenrir is either ice or wind trope. Hope you guys enjoy!.
Unique skill [Apocalypse]: A skill embodying the attributes of the apocalypse and the various powers of the Fenrir of Myth. Grants a foreboding aura of intimidation and lets one project the dangers of the end.
[Disruption]: Cause chaos in the local magicules to disrupt magic casting and even spiritual powers.
[Killing Roar]: Grants a roar filled with destruction that can eliminate foes that do not have qualifying protections like an ultimate skills or immortality. (May or May not include spiritual life forms)
[Sun Eater]: Allows the user to eat a conceptual sun and embody the suns conceptual powers, leaning into destruction.
[Storm Production]: Allows the use to control the elements of water, wind, and lightning. Allows the user to conjure a destructive storm of a large quantity, or any storm that can range from hurricanes to just gentle rain.
