Previous cut:-Rupam smiled and said, "Alright, fine. Then I'll come to your class during tiffin break. Please make sure you stay in the classroom."
With that, Rupam left.
During tiffin break, she went to meet Rupam. As she entered the classroom, she saw Rupam sitting alone. No one else was there—just him.
Rupam smiled and said, "Come, sit here."
The girl sat down in front of him. Rupam stood up, walked to the door, and closed it.
"What are you doing? Why did you close the door?" she cried out.
Rupam lowered his voice. "Why are you shouting? I just want to talk to you for a bit."
"Why do you need to close the door just to talk?"
"Calm down. Everyone will hear us."
The girl stood up and tried to leave. That was the exact moment the unthinkable happened. Rupam grabbed her from behind, wrapped his arms around her, and against her will—crushing every bit of her resistance—he dragged her deeper into the classroom.
Suresh Babu's voice faltered as he spoke. Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes. His throat trembled.
"My daughter… she suffered terribly, you know. She came home from college with her clothes torn and her body covered in blood. People on the street stared at her. They said all kinds of horrible things. When I first saw her, I was terrified. I pulled her into my arms and asked, 'What happened, my child? Who did this to you?'
"She couldn't speak a word. She just looked at me and cried. Her mother fainted the moment she saw her in that state. I carried her inside and kept asking again and again, 'Tell me, child. Tell me who did this.'
"There was no answer. After a long time, she whispered just one word—'Rupam.'
"'Who is Rupam? Tell me his full name, my child.'
"But she couldn't say anything more. Her eyes closed. In panic, I shook her body. 'Ma! Open your eyes! Please open your eyes!' Then I quickly splashed water on her face and eyes.
"Five or seven minutes later, her tongue moved slightly. I immediately gave her a little water. Slowly, she opened her eyes. I didn't ask her anything else. I simply carried her to the bedroom and laid her down.
"Without wasting another moment, I left for the police station. When I returned, the doctor had already arrived—her mother had called him. The moment my wife saw me, she broke down crying again. The doctor said, 'She needs to be admitted to the hospital immediately.'
"I called an ambulance right away. My daughter was rushed to the hospital.
"The hospital informed us that her condition was critical. Several bones were broken. She had suffered a head injury. Her private parts were badly injured and torn. The doctor said, 'She may not survive.'
"I fell at the doctor's feet. 'Doctor, please save my daughter. She is all we have.'
"The doctor lifted me up and said gently, 'Please stand up. Don't break down like this. I will do everything possible to save her. Stay calm and keep your mind strong.'
"But that very evening… my little girl left us forever. She never came back."
Suresh Babu's voice trailed off. His body shook with silent sobs.
