Meanwhile inside the royal palace...

The palace still shimmered with celebration—Dancers spun.

Lamps flickered.

Laughter echoed through the grand hall.

Until—The doors burst open.

Guards rushed in. Breathing hard.

Eyes wide.

They moved straight to King Subala. And bowed quickly.

"Maharaj[1]—!"

Their voices carried urgency.

"Five guards… found dead."

Silence.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Not gradual. Immediate.

"At the forest edge—near the palace grounds."

King Subala stepped forward.

"How?"

The guard hesitated.

"The area is sealed— Poisonous herbs… thorned growth… dense trees… No one can enter unnoticed."

A pause.

"But… they were killed. And we found no one."

King Subala's expression darkened.

"...."

Anger. Controlled—But rising.

"Search."

His voice sharpened.

"Every corner. Find them."

Behind him—The princes moved instantly.

Weapons ready.

Eyes alert. The hunt had begun.

Bhishma rose from his seat. No hesitation.

"I will see this myself."

King Subala nodded accepting Bhishma's proposal.

-Nod!

Together—They moved. Out of celebration—Into shadow.

The air changed in the celebration hall.

Cooler. Heavier.

The celebration felt distant now.

Muted.

They arrived at the location where the dead bodies where located. And saw—The bodies.

Guards. Fallen.

Not scattered—Broken.

Arms twisted unnaturally.

Bones shattered.

No clean cuts. No weapons.

Just—Force. Brutal. Effortless.

Bhishma crouched slightly.

Examining.

Silent.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Then—His eyes narrowed.

-Frown.

"Not human."

King Subala stiffened hearing Bhishma's words.

Bhishma continued—

"Too much strength. Too careless in form."

A pause.

"Rakshasas[2]."

King Subala's eyes widened. Not fear.

But understanding. Because this—Was no longer political.

This was—Predatory.

King Subala turned sharply.

"Search the entire palace! Every corridor—every shadow! Find them!"

The guards moved instantly.

Spreading out in a hurry try to track down the culprits.

Weapons drawn ready to fight at any moment.

There were several questions lingered in the air.

Why were they here?

Not for cattle. Not for food.

Inside a palace—During celebration—This was intentional.

While at Royal Garden...

Under the tree—Gandhari sat with a soft smile,

Listening.

While Devara animatedly spoke—

"…and then the fish followed me like this—"

He waved his hands.

"…and the crocodile didn't like it at all!"

Gandhari chuckled. Light. Unburdened.

-Chuckle!

For a moment—She wasn't a princess.

Just someone… at peace.

But peace had already been breached.

Behind the thick bushes—Two shadows crouched low.

Kaalvakra

Ekanetra

Their eyes glowed faintly.

Locked. On her.

"We found her…"

A low whisper.

"Faster than expected."

A slow, hungry grin spread.

-Grin!

"And those eyes…"

A tongue dragged across sharp teeth.

-Lick!

"…they weren't lying."

They shifted slightly—Preparing.

Calculating distance.

Timing.

Because to them—This was already done.

Then—CRACK!!!

A twig snapped. Soft.

Barely a sound.

Enough.

Devara stopped mid-sentence who was chatting with Gandhari.

"...."

His head tilted slightly. His ears twitched.

-Twitch!

The world slowed.

"…Hmm?"

Something—Was wrong.

Not loud. Not obvious.

But—There. He looked around.

Not panicked. But searching.

Focused.

'…Someone's here…'

His body didn't tense—But his awareness sharpened.

Gandhari blinked looked at Devara confusedly.

-Blink!

"Devara?"

A pause.

"What happened?"

Her voice carried confusion.

"...."

Because she saw nothing. Felt nothing.

Kaalvakra narrowed his eyes.

-Frown!

"He noticed."

Ekanetra smirked looking at Devara.

-Smirk!

"Then we stop waiting."

A pause.

"Take the girl. Kill the boy if needed."

The bushes parted.

Two figures emerged—Not men. Not beasts.

Something in between.

Kaalvakra

Ekanetra

Their eyes burned.

Their smiles stretched too wide.

"...."

"...."

And the moment they stepped into the open—Gandhari froze—Then—

"AH—!"

A scream tore through the garden.

Raw. Instinctive.

Because this—Was not something meant to be faced.

The rakshasas laughed.

Low. Uneven.

-Kekeke!!!

"There she is…"

"Even prettier up close…"

They stepped forward—Slow. Deliberate.

Enjoying it.

Devara didn't step back.

His brows furrowed. His gaze hardened.

-Frown!

'…Disgusting…'

Not fear. Instinct.

Something deeper—Rejecting them.

-Blink!

"…Huh."

Then—A small grin formed on his face.

'…So it helps like this too…'

Gandhari grabbed his hand.

"We have to go!"

Her grip trembled.

"Now!"

She pulled him. Trying to run.

Because this—Was survival.

The rakshasas moved faster now. No more patience.

"Run if you want…"

A grin widened.

-Grin!

"It makes it more fun."

Devara didn't move.

"...."

Not yet. Not with her.

Because something inside him—Was shifting.

Awakening. Not knowledge. Not training.

But—intent.

He looked at Gandhari.

"...."

Then at the rakshasas.

Then—Back at the system screen only he could see.

"…Don't worry."

Simple. Soft. But steady.

Gandhari paused—Just for a second.

"...."

Because that voice—Did not sound afraid.

The claw came down—Fast. Deadly.

A hair's breadth from Devara's face—Everything froze. The wind. The leaves.

"...."

"...."

"...."

The scream—Mid-air.

And in that suspended moment—

[–DUM!–DUM!–]

Time resumed. And Devara felt it.

Not like learning. Not like effort.

"...."

But like—something pouring into him.

Muscles tightened. Bones steadied.

His body—Heavier.

Sharper. Alive.

The claw descended—But—

-GRAB.

Devara's hand caught it.

Effortlessly.

The rakshasa froze.

"...."

Ekanetra blinked—Because what he expected—Was not resistance.

-Blink!

The claw descended—But—

GRAB.

Devara's hand caught it.

Effortlessly.

The rakshasa froze.

Ekanetra blinked—Because what he expected—Was not resistance.

-Blink!

"...."

Silence.

Brief. But complete.

Kaalvakra stared—Eyes narrowing.

"What…?"

Ekanetra steadied himself—Blood at the edge of his lip.

Confusion—Then anger.

Gandhari lowered her hands slowly.

Her breath caught.

"...."

Because what she saw—Did not make sense.

A child—Standing firm.

Against monsters on his own.

Devara looked at his hand.

"...."

Flexed his fingers.

"…Oh."

A pause.

"…That really worked."

Then—He looked up.

At the rakshasas.

And smiled. Not playful. Not innocent.

But—Ready his whole face was radiating confidence.

Because now—The hunters understood.

This was no ordinary prey.

And the child—Had just stepped into something far beyond his years.

The garden no longer held peace.

Only tension.

And between predator and princess—Stood a boy—Who had just got the strength of a legend.

The laughter died.

Weapons appeared on their hands.

Kaalvakra gripped a gada, its surface bristling with thorns—

Ekanetra raised a wicked axe, its edge gleaming under moonlight—

And then—They moved. Together.

The air split.

The axe came first—Fast. Precise.

The gada followed—Heavy. Crushing.

But—

Devara's body reacted before thought.

His strength surged again—Because now—Two opponents.

Two sources.

Two halves—Flowing into him.

He twisted. Sidestepped.

The axe missed—Barely.

The gada slammed into the ground—

-BOOM!!!

-CRACK! -CRACK!!!

The earth cracked. Dust burst outward.

Devara didn't counter with strength.

He chose—mischief.

Scooping a handful of sand—He flung it forward.

-FWISH!!!

The grains hit the target rightly.

Straight into their eyes.

The rakshasas recoiled—

"AAARGH—!"

"You little—!"

Both the rakshasas staggered and caught totally off guard by this move.

Vision blurred. Burning.

They swung blindly—Wild. Uncontrolled.

The axe cut through air—The gada—

-CRACK.

Connected.

Not with Devara—

But—With the other rakshasa's head.

Ekanetra staggered by the impact—

"YOU IDIOT—!"

Kaalvakra snapped back annoyed at his brother for appearing at the direction his gada got swung—

"I CAN'T SEE—!"

"YOU SWUNG FIRST—!"

They cursed at each other.

Furious. Disoriented.

Devara stepped back—Watching the banter.

"…That worked better than I thought."

No panic.

Just—Adjustment.

Learning. Adapting. To his newly gained strength.

Gandhari stood frozen—Heart racing.

"...."

Because this wasn't just survival anymore—It was a fight.

And somehow—Devara was winning.

The rakshasas were no longer in control.

Their strength—Turned against them.

Their vision—Gone.

Their prey—Untouchable but cunning as fox.

The garden floor cracked.

The air burned.

And in the chaos—A child stood calm—Turning rakshasas into fools.

The chaos had already begun—Blind rage.

Broken coordination. And then—Opportunity.

The axe slipped—Falling from Ekanetra's grasp.

Devara saw it.

"..."

No hesitation. He moved.

A roll—Low. Fast.

His fingers closed around the weapon.

Heavy. But not anymore.

Not to him.

He rose—And swung. Clean. Precise.

The blade carved through flesh—

-THUD.

The leg fell.

Ekanetra screamed—A sound that tore through the garden.

-AHHHHHHH!!!

Blood sprayed—Hot. Violent. From his injury.

The blood hit Kaalvakra's face.

He wiped it—And his sight returned.

What he saw—His brother.

"...."

Broken. Kneeling.

And in front of him—A child. Holding death.

Before thought could form—The axe moved again.

A single arc.

-SHHKT!!!

The head fell from his brother's body.

Silence followed.

"...."

"...."

"...."

At that exact moment—They arrived.

Bhishma. King Subala. Princes.

Guards. Guests.

All—Stopped.

Because what they saw—Did not fit reality.

A child—Standing in blood.

Holding an axe.

A rakshasa's head falling beside him rolling on the ground.

Kaalvakra stepped back.

"...."

For the first time—Fear. Real. Raw.

Appeared on his face which showed only cruel smile on his face until now.

His eyes darted—And landed on—Gandhari

'…Escape …Take her…'

He turned—And ran toward her to take her as hostage to safely escape from here.

Desperate. Unstable.

Devara saw it. Everyone saw it.

But before anyone could act—He moved.

A step—Onto the severed neck.

Blood splashed.

-SPLAASH!!!

Momentum gained from there.

And then—He jumped. High. Higher than anyone expected.

For a heartbeat—Time slowed again.

A child—Mid-air.

Silhouetted against moonlight at the clear night sky.

Spinning. Descending in an arc.

Kaalvakra looked up—Just in time—To see him.

"...."

Eyes cold. Unwavering.

The axe descended—In a perfect arc.

-SHRAAAK!!!

The head separated cleanly.

The body stood—For a second.

Then fell to the ground struggling.

Devara hit the ground—Rolled. Stabilized.

The axe slid—And stopped.

-SCREEECH!!!

Silence. Total Silence...

No cheers. No movement.

Just—Shock.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Bhishma stared in silence.

King Subala stood frozen.

The princes—Speechless.

And Gandhari—Breath trembling—Eyes locked on the boy who had just become her shield.

Devara stood there. Covered in red blood.

-Huff! -Huff!

"...."

Breathing steady. Eyes calm.

Not proud. Not shaken. Just—Finished.

"…It's done."

The axe rested on his shoulder.

Devara stood still for a moment—Breathing steady.

His gaze moved.

To Gandhari

She had collapsed to her knees—Hands close to her chest.

"...."

Still trembling. Still processing.

Then—He turned. Toward the others.

There they stood.

King Subala and his sons.

Guards and guests.

And at the center—Bhishma.

All of them looked at him—Silent.

Because what they had witnessed—Was not normal. Was not expected.

Was not… possible.

And then—It vanished.

That cold. That sharpness on his face.

Gone.

Replaced by—A bright smile.

"…Brother!"

Devara ran towards Bhishma. Like nothing had happened.

He stopped before Bhishma—Speaking quickly.

Excited.

"They attacked us!... So I had to deal with them!... They were very annoying!"

Simple. Casual.

As if he had just chased away stray dogs.

Bhishma crouched down. Slowly. Carefully.

His hand reached out—Wiping the blood from Devara's face with his cloth.

Gentle.

But his eyes—Shifted.

To the bodies. Headless. Still.

'…Two rakshasas… He defeated... Alone…"

For the first time—Bhishma did not have an answer.

Meanwhile—King Subala and his sons rushed to Gandhari.

"Gandhari!"

They helped her up. Checked her.

No wounds. No injuries.

Only—Shock. And something else.

A lingering image—Of a boy standing between her and death.

A breath escaped the king.

Slow. Heavy.

"…She's safe."

The tension—Finally broke.

Devara was guided away.

Still talking. Still explaining.

Toward the baths.

Because now—The blood needed to go.

Devara started washing his body.

As the water flowed—The red blood faded.

Piece by piece. Until—Only Devara remained.

Not the warrior. Not the storm.

Just—A child again.

But outside—The story had already begun.

Through whispers. Through guards. Through guests.

"A boy… Killed two rakshasas…"

"Alone… Protected the princess…"

The words traveled. Like wildfire.

Beyond the palace.

Into the city. Into the night.

The palace gates opened—And Shakuni stepped in.

Dust on his clothes.

A large sealed pot carried behind him—Tightly wrapped.

Carefully guarded.

But before he could even take ten steps—He heard it.

"Rakshasas…"

"Five guards dead…"

"A child killed them…"

He stopped. Completely.

"...."

The casual air vanished.

"What did you say?"

His voice sharpened.

The guards hesitated—Then explained.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Everything.

From the attack—To the garden—To the boy.

Shakuni didn't wait. Didn't question further.

He turned—And ran.

Through corridors. Through shadows.

Straight to—Gandhari's Chamber.

Gandhari's Chamber...

The doors opened.

Inside—Gandhari sat—Held tightly by her mother.

King Subala stood nearby.

Her brothers surrounded her.

The air—Heavy. Protective.

Shakuni stepped forward quickly.

Eyes scanning. Checking.

Every detail. Every sign.

Then—He exhaled.

-Sigh!

"…You're okay."

Soft. Almost a whisper.

One of his elder brothers spoke—

"Where were you?"

A pause.

"On her birthday?"

The tone—Not angry. But questioning.

Shakuni turned. And gestured the guards.

"Bring it."

The guards stepped forward—Placing the large pot before Gandhari.

The cloth was removed.

Golden light shimmered inside.

Which caught everyone's attention.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Mountain honey.

Rich. Thick. Pure.

Shakuni grinned seeing everyone's reaction.

-Grin!

"I went to steal sweetness from a mountain…"

A pause.

"…for someone who deserves more than this palace can give."

He didn't stop there. He acted. Dramatically.

"Do you know how hard it is? Bees! Thousands!"

He waved his arms.

"I fought bravely! I ran strategically! I screamed internally!"

A pause. Then—

"But I won finally."

Gandhari blinked hearing how Shakuni described his little adventure.

-Blink!

"...."

Then—A small smile appeared.

Fragile. But real.

The room shifted. Just slightly.

The tension—Eased.

The fear—Loosened its grip.

King Subala watched quietly.

"...."

His sons relaxed.

Because sometimes—Strength protects one's love.

But laughter—Heals one's mind.

But behind the smile—Shakuni's eyes moved.

Sharp. Calculating.

Seeing his efforts were paid off.

Because one thought remained—

'…A child …killed two rakshasas…'

He was curious very curious about this boy the guards mentioned.
