The brilliant light surrounding Maha Kali had only just begun to fade when she stopped.
For a moment, the five kings thought the goddess had already decided to leave them behind and return to Trivenivrata.
They remained kneeling where they were, their clothes covered in mud and dust, their faces still carrying the shock of everything they had witnessed.
None of them dared to raise their heads too much after seeing their entire army destroyed before them.
Then a voice came from behind them.
"Devi[1] Maha Kali..."
The tone wasn't arrogant.
It wasn't challenging either.
There was genuine respect in it.
Maha Kali paused.
Her expression changed almost immediately.
She slowly turned her head toward the source of the voice, her eyes narrowing as she looked past the five kings.
