Ganesha was the first among the siblings to step forward, and unlike the other guests who had presented Devara with weapons, jewels, rare fruits and divine artifacts, he approached carrying nothing that appeared particularly extraordinary at first glance.
In his hands was a book bound in a deep, dark material, its cover decorated with several intricate symbols that seemed to shift slightly whenever the light from the surrounding lamps fell upon them.
There was no golden crown upon it, no precious stones embedded into its cover and no elaborate ornamentation that would immediately announce its divine origin, yet there was something about the book that made Devara instinctively look at it with curiosity.
Ganesha extended it toward him with a warm smile.
