Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 - Bleeding is too pedestrian

"Now… what the fuck do I do?"

A tan boy muttered with a sigh as his purple hair swayed in the humid, misty wind.

He took a deep breath and stood up on the black cube.

"Fuck, my leg"

Let's analyse what just happened… the river disappeared when I first saw it..

The river had disappeared when he first saw it. Why would it disappear? If the river is a kind of Requim beast, then it could be a defence mechanism, but there is also one more possibility.

It would be so funny if this were a false treasury of a crazed priest!

He had heard many stories of combat warriors becoming absolutely unhinged after the ritual; some even say that to become a priest one has to eat other combat warriors. Stories of priests becoming mad after the ritual and torturing men were as common as the folktales of the faceless boy.

Elias also considered the mind attack of the river and the mist as he sat on the cube, his toes barely grazing the water.

If this is a false treasury of a priest, then can rebuild my tribe; the resources gained would also help me become stronger!

False treasuries are essentially man-made copies of true treasury or treasuries, true treasuries or treasuries were not made by Chinenkind, some called them gifts from gods, while some argued that they were treasuries of long lost civilizations.

Treasuries introduced Chinenkind to Requim and mystical lights, while false treasuries were of Chinen priests who wanted to pass off their inheritances.

An immense wave washed over Elias; his covering were washed away long before when he was swimming earlier so he didn't mind.

it feels nice though; if not for this fuckass cut along my leg it would have been almost relaxing... wait

"What?"

His wound did not get wet at all!

Elias eyebrows furrowed as he bended over after hesitating for a bit. He scooped some water and threw it on his injured thigh

"It got absorbed?"

The water from the river disappeared on his wound, seemingly absorbed by it; Elias thought for a moment and bit his tongue.

He tried to bleed a little from his tongue, but he couldn't, disappointed he looked at the river and laughed, "River boy… I am going to swallow you whole, bitch"

He lowered himself into the river as he gripped the black cube. His chiseled body dipped into the river and adjusted to the flow.

I don't feel hunger or thirst; this river is probably feeding me or something

His lean body had a thin layer of fat — essential for keeping him warm and helping him survive, but that layer did not hide his muscles. His upper body glistened brightly as it worked hard to keep himself from flowing away with the current.

Sweat rolled onto his tan skin as his third eye widened.

"I knew it! It is a damned false treasury"

Words written with the same mystic as the pond's glow were finally visible to Elias now that he was not exhausted and on the verge of collapsing!

Elias read them intently, his eyes widening with surprise as he felt something touch his submerged leg.

"This is a Requim creation technique? Blood tributary?"

A young girl with pale skin was panting heavily as she held onto a crack. She was on the bark of a humongous tree, covered in a thin layer of leaves which made her tremble with cold. A slightly older man was just behind her, climbing too.

She gritted her teeth as she felt her hold slip; instantly she started floating towards the small group of black leaves at an astonishing speed.

"What the fuck!" Flieday cursed as she noticed that the gravitational pull of the creature was much more potent now. It was ten times stronger, leading her to miscalculate and start to fly towards the Bedrock leaves.

So Flieday tried to grab the small outgrowing bark near her only for her arm to be riddled by cuts. She hissed as her nails flew off; she looked around with a pained expression and checked her covering, trying to find some resources. She looked up towards the leaves, calculating the time she has to live before she crashes into the branch and dies.

30 seconds

She did not find any trees near her, no animals around her either. She herself had some leaves and vines as covering and nothing else.

25 seconds left, damn it!

She quickly unwrapped the vines which held black leaves on her; Using one hand to keep the leaves with her and other to save the vines.

20 seconds! Fuck fuck fuck fuck

She tried to make some sort of cushion with the leaves, folding them in ways to have huge air pockets. Thankfully, she was wearing bedrock leaves, which were not only huge but extremely durable too.

Flieday had stopped thinking about time and panicking, fully focused on trying to survive.

Making the airtight contraption, she used one vine which was once keeping leaves bound to her chest to bind the airtight leaves to her legs.

She knew that the contraption would burst on impact, but that was its job.

She quickly brought her legs [1]towards her chest and head to protect them as she started to make something out of the vine which once helped her cover her waist.

Before she could use the other vine to slow herself down, however, she crashed onto the branch.

Snap!

The vine snapped in an instant, then her legs snapped too. Broken fragments of bone punctured her muscles and skin, forming huge wounds. Her legs made an unnatural shape, causing her skin to peel off her knees as the impact reached her torso.

Her pelvis cracked as blood vessels erupted, causing mass internal bleeding and internal ruptures. Her spine twisted unnaturally as she felt the world becoming dark instantly.

If she were conscious for a few more seconds, she would have heard another person getting destroyed by the impact on the same branch.

Before Flieday could be minced by the branch though, a pale hand emerged from the tree and dragged Flieday into it, the tree bark rippled like water as the blond girl disappeared into it.

[1] she has the contraption bound to her legs
