"Three days," Nyx said, voice rough like he'd been screaming. Maybe he had been. "We have three days to figure out how to win."
"Not enough time to bring reinforcements from the villages," Kyren said quietly from where he sat checking his wounds. "Even if we sent runners now, they wouldn't arrive in time. Four days minimum travel, and that's pushing hard."
"And we don't have enough warriors to fight through forty defenders plus reinforcements," Darion added, wrapping a gash on his forearm. "We barely made it out today. Won't make it in a second time using the same strategy."
The reality of that hung heavy.
They'd lost three warriors today.
Two leopards who'd fought with everything they had. One panther who'd held a chokepoint so others could retreat.
Good males. Brave males.
Dead now because Roshan had led them into a trap.
And the wolves had barely been scratched by comparison.
