Chapter 62 - Chapter 60: The Shattered Oracle

Lia's boots pounded against the forest floor, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Every second felt like a drop of blood leaking from the world's veins. In her mind, the "Future" was a vivid tapestry of fire and despair—a map she was desperate to redraw.

"In three years," she thought, her heart hammering against her ribs, "the Void-Gates will open. The 'Night-Stalkers' will pour out of the darkness, turning the twelve moons into a graveyard. In my past life, we were too slow. We didn't have a leader. We didn't have the Sword."

She remembered the screams. She remembered the Silver City burning until the marble turned to ash. But in that timeline, Kaelen had found the Blade of Dawn too late, after his spirit had already been broken.

"This time, it was supposed to be perfect!" Lia gritted her teeth, leaping over a fallen log. "Kaelen is stronger now because of the elixirs I secretly planted for him. The Blade of Dawn is the only weapon capable of piercing the heart of the Void-Sovereign. It is the 'Keystone' of our survival. If he grasps it today, we have a 70% chance of victory. If he doesn't..."

She reached the edge of the sacred grove, the capital's spires visible in the distance. But suddenly, the world felt... stagnant. The birdsong didn't just stop; it was erased. The wind didn't die; it froze.

A man was leaning against an ancient oak, right in her path. He wasn't breathing. He wasn't moving. He looked like a statue carved from the cold essence of the stars.

"You're running toward a grave, little regressor," a voice resonated inside her skull, cold and vibrating with the weight of a thousand dead suns.

Lia skidded to a halt, her staff glowing with a frantic violet light. "Who are you? Out of my way! The Hero must reach the Crypt! The fate of the twelve moons depends on that blade!"

The man—Fang Yuan—stepped forward. He didn't walk; the distance between them simply vanished, as if the forest floor had folded itself to bring him to her.

"The fate you remember is a child's fairy tale," Fang Yuan said, his eyes Indigo pits of nothingness. "You think the 'Night-Stalkers' are the end? You think that sword is a gift? You've lived through a tragedy, Lia, but you never understood the script. I haven't just changed the sword... I've revealed its true purpose."

Lia's blood ran cold. He knew her name. He knew her secret. "You... you're the 'Variable'. You've tainted the Dawn!"

"I've liberated it," Fang Yuan whispered, his hand reaching out. For a second, Lia saw the "Aetheric Web" behind him—and saw that every golden thread of the future she remembered was being woven into a dark, bottomless knot in his palm. "The Hero will have his sword. But the world he saves... will belong to me."
