Chapter 88 - Chapter 86: The First Thread of Decit

The pressure from the Abyssal Overlord was immense, trying to force Fang Yuan to his knees. But Fang Yuan knew that showing weakness to a Demon was a death sentence. Instead, he channeled his Space-Time Weaving not outward, but inward.

He used his indigo threads to re-stitch the frequency of his own mana, mimicking the dark, acidic resonance of the Obsidian Demons. It was an excruciating process, like drinking acid to pretend to be a poisonous serpent.

"We are pilgrims of the Void, Lord of Obsidian," Fang Yuan replied, his voice calm, but distorted by the acidic mana he was now channeling. He didn't speak with his mouth; he projected the thought directly back at the Overlord.

He raised a hand, pointing at the altered forms of Kaelen and Zane. "We come from the sector that was just incinerated by the Galactic Overlord. He sought to erase us, but we embraced the Void and became... something new."

Fang Yuan knew that the Abyssal Overlord of Rank 3 would naturally hate the Galactic Overlord of the rival sector.

"We bring a gift," Fang Yuan lied, his mind weaving the intricate threads of his deception. "These two 'Void-Sentinels' we created are immune to the Galactic Overlord's 'Absolute Order'. They can be your weapons, your assassins. We ask only for asylum and the chance to serve the Abyss."

The Abyssal Overlord remained silent, his ocular-suns burning with contemplation. The thousands of Rank 2 Demon Weavers around the plaza hissed, waiting for the order to tear the intruders apart and feast on their Void-tainted souls.

Fang Yuan waited. This was a gamble. If the Overlord detected a single Indigo Thread out of place, or recognized Kaelen's lingering "Heroic" signature, the game was over before it began.
