Chapter 42 - Nadia's Night

Saturday evening settled over the condo like a deliberate hush. The city lights beyond the windows glowed soft and distant, as if the skyline itself was giving the night space to breathe. David had cleared the living room earlier—sectional pushed back, coffee table moved aside, leaving only the large area rug and a single low lamp casting warm gold across the floor. No group tonight. No planning spreadsheets. No alibis or referrals discussed. Just one woman.

Nadia.

She arrived at 8:57 p.m.—early, as always when the craving hit hardest. Black lace bra and thong set under a simple trench coat, heels clicking softly as she stepped inside. The moment the door closed she dropped the coat, standing there in the lace, hair loose in dark waves, eyes already glassy with need.

"Ethan's retreat photos are still up online," she whispered, walking straight to him. "He looks happy in them. I looked at them today and felt nothing. Only you."
