Chapter 47 - Sophia's Night

Tuesday evening settled over Atlanta with a quiet weight—the rain from earlier had cleared, leaving the streets glistening under streetlights and the air carrying the clean, sharp scent of wet pavement mixed with blooming jasmine from the parks below. David had kept the condo deliberately simple for the night: lights low, a single lamp casting a warm golden pool over the bedroom, fresh sheets on the king bed, and the balcony doors cracked just enough to let in the faint night breeze. No group. No planning spreadsheets. No empire talk until afterward.

Just Sophia.

She arrived at 8:03 p.m.—red lace teddy under a short black dress, garters clipped to sheer stockings, heels clicking softly as she stepped inside. The moment the door closed she let the dress fall to the floor, standing there in the red lace, freckles flushed with anticipation, eyes already dark with that mix of devotion and quiet hunger that had only deepened since her last solo night.
