Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Collision

The world bent around them.

Not visibly—

But undeniably.

The air felt heavier.

Thicker.

Like reality itself was resisting what was about to happen.

Kael stood his ground.

Energy surged through him—

Wild.

But controlled.

"…Aetherion."

"…Stabilizing."

Across from him—

The entity stepped forward.

Each movement cracked the ground beneath it.

Its presence alone—

Was overwhelming.

"…You carry incomplete resonance…"

Its voice was calm.

Too calm.

"…You should not exist like this."

Kael's eyes sharpened.

"…Then I'll prove you wrong."

The entity tilted its head slightly.

"…No."

A pause.

"…You will complete me."

It moved.

Instantly.

Faster than anything before.

Kael barely reacted—

BOOM.

A direct clash.

Energy exploded between them.

Kael slid back—

Feet grinding against the ground.

"…Fast…" he muttered.

The entity didn't stop.

It pressed forward—

Relentless.

Another strike—

Kael blocked—

But the force sent shockwaves through his arms.

"…It's stronger than the others…"

"…Of course it is."

The man's voice echoed from behind.

"…This one evolved."

The entity's hand pulsed with energy—

Then—

It fired.

A concentrated blast.

Kael dodged—

Barely.

The blast tore through the street behind him.

Exploding on impact.

People screamed in the distance.

Kael froze for half a second.

"…There are people here—"

That moment—

Was enough.

The entity was already in front of him.

A strike—

Direct.

Kael took the hit.

CRACK.

He was sent flying—

Crashing through a wall.

Dust filled the air.

Silence—

Then movement.

Kael pushed himself up slowly.

Blood at the corner of his mouth.

"…I felt that…"

The entity stepped through the debris.

Unstoppable.

"…Your hesitation…"

A pause.

"…Is inefficient."

Kael wiped the blood away.

His eyes hardened.

"…They're not part of this."

"…Everything is part of this."

The entity raised its hand again.

Energy gathered—

Larger this time.

More dangerous.

"…Then I'll end it before they get hurt."

Kael stood.

Straight.

Still.

He closed his eyes.

The world faded.

The noise disappeared.

Everything—

Except the energy inside him.

"…Aetherion…"

"…Synchronizing at higher output."

The pulse grew.

Stronger.

Deeper.

Different.

Kael opened his eyes.

They glowed brighter than before.

"…Let's try this."

The entity attacked again—

But this time—

Kael moved first.

Faster.

Cleaner.

He slipped past the strike—

Closed the distance—

And struck.

A direct hit to the core.

The entity staggered.

"…Impossible—"

Kael didn't stop.

Another strike—

Then another.

Each one more precise.

More controlled.

The entity's form began to crack.

"…Your resonance—"

"…Is mine to control."

Kael grabbed its arm—

Energy surged between them.

Not chaotic—

Dominant.

The entity struggled.

Its form destabilizing rapidly.

"…No—this is not—"

Kael tightened his grip.

"…End."

A final surge—

Then—

Silence.

The entity shattered into fragments of light—

And vanished.

The air returned to normal.

Slowly.

Kael stood still.

Breathing steady.

But heavier than before.

"…That felt… different…"

The man approached.

Watching him closely.

"…It should have."

Kael looked at him.

"…What do you mean?"

A pause.

"…You didn't just fight it."

The man's voice lowered.

"…You overpowered its evolution."

Kael frowned.

"…Isn't that good?"

Silence.

"…For now."

Kael's expression hardened.

"…You keep saying that."

The man looked at the space where the entity vanished.

"…Because every time you grow…"

A pause.

"…something else notices."

Kael felt it again.

That presence.

Faint—

But watching.

Waiting.

"…Let them watch."

His energy flickered.

Stronger than before.

Unstable.

But his.
