After a long day, Hansen collapsed onto his luxurious bed, exhausted and furious. It was forty-five minutes past nine when he glanced at his wristwatch.
"Why does she stay out so late recently?" he muttered to himself. This is exactly why I didn't want her working…
As he brooded, Sunshine entered the room.
"Hi, darling! I'm back," she said cheerfully, setting her bag on the shelf. But there was no response.
She repeated her greeting, still met with silence.
Hansen rolled over, pulling the blanket over his head.
"Han… are you mad at me?" she asked softly, reaching to touch him. He ignored her.
"Han… I'm sorry I came in late again," she said, moving closer. But he pushed her away and, in frustration, got up to sleep on the couch. He pulled the blanket over himself and turned his back at her.
Sunshine's eyes grew heavy, and the tears she had been holding back finally slipped free. "Why are you angry? My phone died… I couldn't call. I even told Ciara to call, but she refused…" She explained but there was no reaction from him.
She sighed. Alright then… I guess I'll have to leave.
Grabbing a blanket, she retreated to her room and cried softly as she wandered inside.
The next morning, her eyes were swollen from sleep and tears. Hansen had already left for work without leaving a note. Disappointed, she sank to the dressing table, her heart heavy.
She dressed quickly. She wore jeans and a tiny black top, pulling on black shades and a scarf to hide her face. The moment she stepped out, Lettie praised her. Sunshine gave a small, fake smile and followed her to work.
She sent a series of text messages to Hansen, but none were replied to.
This is getting too far… she thought, frustrated. She finally called Lucas. On the second ring, he picked up.
"Hi Lucas, has Hansen been busy?"
"No, he just sacked me from the office," Lucas laughed. "He said I was irritating him. Haha… very annoying, that one."
"Oh… okay. Thanks, by the way," she replied, hanging up before he could respond. She exhaled deeply. Phew…
That evening, the same scene repeated. Sunshine drew close to Hansen, hoping for warmth or even acknowledgment, only to be met with silence. I can't let this become his daily routine, she thought, determination settling in her chest.
She slipped into the nightwear he had gifted her, it's soft, flowing, delicate. With a gentle smile, she returned and draped a warm blanket over his shoulders. Slowly, she ran her fingers through his hair, brushing away tension, letting him feel her presence. Soft, melodic music played in the background, wrapping the room in a romantic glow.
Hansen finally lifted his eyes to hers. "Are you seeing someone?" he asked, voice low, almost shy.
Sunshine shook her head, pressing her forehead against his. "Why would I, when you're all I need?"
His lips curved into a small, relieved smile. Without another word, he reached for her. They moved together, hearts beating in unison. She rested against his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her, holding her as though letting go would break them both.
The rain outside tapped softly against the windows, a gentle rhythm that mirrored the quiet intimacy in the room. Sunshine tilted her head up to kiss him softly not urgent, but full of tenderness and longing. He returned it slowly, savoring the moment, his hands tracing the gentle curve of her back.
"I've missed this… us," she whispered, voice barely audible.
"I've missed you," he murmured back, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Being close to you, feeling you here with me… it's all I want."
They sank onto the bed together, wrapped in blankets, and simply held each other. Their breaths synchronized, their whispered words filling the quiet. He pressed his forehead to hers, eyes closed, feeling her warmth, her heartbeat.
"I want us… always," he said softly, voice full of emotion.
"Always," she echoed, resting her head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart. "No matter what comes, we face it together."
Time seemed to stand still. They laughed softly, exchanged gentle kisses, and held each other in silence. Every touch, every glance, every heartbeat spoke volumes, a promise that they were no longer alone, that their love could weather anything.
The rain continued to fall outside, but inside, they had found their own shelter, their own world, a place of trust, closeness, and endless intimacy.
Hansen smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair from Sunshine's face. "How is the little thing doing in your belly?" he whispered, pressing gentle kisses on his belly.
Sunshine's heart fluttered, her lips curving into a shy smile.
"I want you to know something," he continued, his voice low and full of emotion. "I want to marry you, Sunshine. I want you to be my wife… my partner… my everything. I want a family with you, kids, laughter, all of it. I get lost in you every time I see you."
Sunshine felt tears prick at her eyes, touched by the raw honesty in his words. She leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Hansen… I feel the same," she whispered. "Every time I see you, I can't help myself. I love you… completely."
He held her close, forehead against hers, breathing her in. "You're my home, Sunshine. My safe place. No matter what happens, I promise, I'll always be here for you."
Sunshine rested her head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. "And I'll always be here for you," she whispered, fingers tracing soft patterns along his arm.
For a long moment, they simply held each other, hearts entwined, letting the world outside fade away. Every gentle touch, every soft word, every shared breath was a silent promise that they were in this together, completely and forever.
In that quiet, glowing room, wrapped in each other's arms, they found a love deeper than words, a love full of trust, tenderness, and intimacy that needed no other expression than their closeness.
Hansen held her close, his hands warm on her back. "I can't get enough of you, Sunshine," he murmured, his voice low and tender.
Sunshine wrapped her arms around him, pressing her cheek against his chest. "I feel the same," she whispered. "Being with you… it's everything I've ever wanted."
He pulled her closer, and they swayed gently together, letting the music and the soft rain outside guide them. Every brush of skin, every heartbeat, every quiet word was electric, a closeness that made them forget the world outside.
"I want us to be together… always," Hansen said, his lips brushing her hair, soft kisses trailing along her forehead and shoulders.
Sunshine tilted her face up to meet his gaze, eyes shining. "Always," she whispered. "No matter what comes, I'll be by your side."
They held each other through the night, talking softly, laughing quietly, sharing dreams and secrets, and letting the warmth between them grow.
Every touch, every embrace was a promise that they were completely, wholly, and endlessly in love. By the time they finally rested, wrapped in blankets and each other's arms, they felt closer than ever. No words were needed; their hearts had already spoken everything.
